What to do...

Ok, here's the situation I have...

At the end of the month I get 100 dollars for good grades and attendance. I was going to spend the money on a combination of pimpage for my xbox and a game or a nicer sound system for my tv and games. Well, this morning I woke up and started playing CoD:Finest Hour on xbox and was having fun, until about 17 minutes into the game, my tv crapped out. It gave it this wierd bright orange tint on the bottom part and gradually got whiter as it went to the top. This has happened before and I'd either A)wait about a minute for it to clear, or B)Hit the sumbitch to make it clear. This time both options failed, and it's scrap metal. So now I have to buy a new tv. I have a replacement, but it is ALOT smaller(13" from 27"), and in messed up in the top right corner of the screen. But today my cousin said he was selling he digital drums and he would sell them to me for 400, whihc is good because he bought them for 800. But I only have a week to get the money to him. My mom and grandma are seeing if they can scrimp a bit and get the money, but I fear it won't be enough. And with my luck I believe he wants it all at once. So what should I do? I love drumming almost more than anything else in the world, but I also spend alot of time in my room watching tv or playing games. Of course, if somehow magically I don't have to use it for the drums, I can always buy a new one, but I don't think we'll have enough :(

What would you do if you were in my shoes.

I don't wanna sound like a jerk, but man....

YOU'RE WAITING FOR YOUR MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER TO GIVE YOU MONEY?

No offence to you, but you are relying too much on your mom and grandma. They already gave you 100, and you are asking for 300 more dollars, and apparently, you don't really have the money (taken from some phrases like "we might not have enough". ) When you grow older and have to live away from them, you're not gonna be used to not getting money. =\

I think you should use your money to buy your mother and grandmother something, because even from other threads, I see that they always give you stuff.

Well, according to his profile he's only 15. My mom didn't let me start working for real until I was a little older than that. And before I was working she was the only source of all my funding.

Still, a part-time job could be the solution to all your problems, Bob.

How badly do you want the drums? Are they really something that you know you are going to use all the time, or just something you just feel obligated to buy because they are such a good deal? I've learned that it doesn't always pay to buy something just because it's a good offer.

If you are that into drumming then go for it, and put all the time that you used to play games into practicing and playing... and get your hands on another game system/ TV sometime down the road... after you've been working a bit. ;)

Perhaps you will get so involved with playing music you'll forget about gaming and watching TV! You'll start a band that will go to the top of the charts, make a zillion dollars, and then have a giant wide-screen hi-def TV and XBOX in every room!

Even if that doesn't happen, playing music all day and not watching TV isn't really a bad thing.

Like edlib said, I am only 15, and I can't get a jobn here legally until I turn 16. So they're my only source of income, and it does indeed suck to rely on others for your money. Also, if you read my post carefully, I said I get the 100 at the end of the month. And I didn't ASK them to do this, they VOLUNTEERED.

Dude, I am counting down the days til I turn 16 and can get a job of my own :¬: I don't like relying on others for my income...

They don't buy me stuff as often as it seems, plusI have tried before to buy them stuff, LORD have I tried. But they always tell me no thanks and to return it and get me something nice. So instead I just help them out WHENEVER possible.

No, I have wanted these since he got them. I play them everytime I go over to his house, and I absolutely love them.

That's what I will most likely do.

If only XD

And BTW, I am not mad at you and your post Z, I still think you're cool, but I am just trying to explain myself ;)

Yeh, I didn't mean to sound hostile or anything Bob, it's just I was guessing that you could give your mom and grandma a little break. :D

I know I try to avoid asking for stuff, since we aren't doing so good (Our damn car keeps breaking down and we have to pay to get it fixed! -_-), and I was guessing you were in the same situation (Bunch of problems occuring that are eating up the income) so I told you what I would have done. Sorry for coming out sounding hostile though. ^_^

And if they won't take gifts, get a new TV. My TV broke, luckily my sister was moving and didn't want to bring her giant TV, so I borrowed it from her. :D Have to give it back at the end of the monh tho. :( Anyways, 400 seems like a lot.... maybe you could use the other TV, and buyt cheaper drums, 400 seems like a lot.

Regular drums usually cost over 1000, and these are better, because I can make it sound the way I want with anything. I can have it be a rock drumset, a jazz srum set, and even a hip hop drumset with just the turn of a knob. So I'm sticking with this tv, and getting the drums(hopefully) and am gonna try to let my mom sell some of the stuff I dont' need or want anymore.

I try not to use too much of my parents money, because I know they're always under stress from money problems. Use some of that money and buy stuff for them. ;)

After that you should just save for drums. And the guy is your COUSIN. Pull some family strings, jerk a few tears, bam. early birthday present. or something.

:D

*swears he put this in somewhere*

I already donated five dollars and I'm getting about 25 dollars this week from my dad and I'm donating all of that, plus my parents already are donating some. Plus if I end up not needing to spend any of my money, I'm donating 70 dollars.

And mike, read my posts to Zed above, I've explained why I am not spending it on them ;)

When you buy stuff for your mom and grandma, refuse to return it. Tell them to keep it :D

I really would buy the drums if you're into drumming. I'd rather buy a real drumset :D

If you look in the papers you can easily find used drumsets for 300.

A) They return it themselves and give me the money :¬:

B)Not me, this way I can drum at 3 in the morning and no-one would hear it but me because of the headphones :D

C)Yes, really crappy ones

D)No, you cannot have naked pics of me.

A) How do they know where to go? Buy from some obscure place. And don't give them the receipt.

B) Ah. Things called rubber covers are the solution. (has some for his snare)

C) I found a good one that was in good condition save for the spots where the first drummer hit extremely hard and the cover was semi bumpy. But overall good condition.

D) I did not ask, nor do I wish to receive pictures of your pasty white ass. :p

Okay, donate $5 more, get the drumset, and beg your parents to replace the TV, or take theirs from their room.... or even get it set up so you can play your Xbox through your comp monitor.

Jeez, these things really aren't that hard.

*hugs Xbox, xbox live, Zen Micro and 6600GT and gets shocked* owie

I donated 50 dollars of my last paycheck, it would have been more but I have to pay rent :\

Where did I say it was a bad thing

But it turns out that ******* didn't wait and just sold it to some dude he doesn't even know for 550. Apparently family means s*** to him

So in turn 50 dollars is going towards the flood thing, most likely unicef, and the other 50 I'm gonna try to buy my mom something nice. And if she does what she normally does, then I'm gonna get the high speeed net modem for us. And if not, well then she'll have a nice new piece of jewelry :)
