if any of you swampies care about NASCAR....Jeff Gordon has snagged his 3rd Nextel Cup win at the Daytona 500 today! I watched it at my bro's house in HDTV and surround. The last thirty or so laps were the best of the 200. I am a big Gordon fan...and this is a great way to start off the year of racing!

GO 24!!!

if any of you care...

It's so that their cars don't get tired. It's like running a marathon, if they went all out after like, 4 laps they'd have to stop and drink some water and get the cramps out of their legs...

Or....something like that.

I don't get racing either....

Gordon did a bump and pass on him...sent him to finish third

i just like to watch the racing to see if there are any big wrecks...like when Scott Wimmer was in the 11 car pile up. He rolled twice, then on the third roll he flipped up and spun twice on his nose! He walked away from that one! But thats mostly why i watch racing, to see accidents that you know the driver will walk away 96% or so.

I really don't get watching a Nascar race. A buncha silly people in Viagra sponsored cars do laps.

200 Laps.

Then finally at the end, they all jack up the speed and actually race each other.

They could save us about 190 laps (and time) if they would just...do 10 laps full out. That would be more interesting than a needless amount of hours watching Zambini in the back catch a flat and having Johnson replace him. Woo, 129th place! You're getting somewhere! :p

There was a time when I liked Nascar (before I actually tried to watch a Nascar race). I had my little Jeff Gordon toy car vrooming around the kitchen.

After trying to watch 10 minutes of Nascar, I became disillusioned :indif:

WTF was this and where did the super cool really fast races go?

That being said, every time I went to a race around here when I was young (my city has a motosports track or something), I always waited for crashes. Other than that the races were boring unless there was some competition and pushing around..

Good to see that Jeff is still on top. *shrugs*

That said, I hope he enjoys his victory, and atleast he speaks properly unlike most nascar drivers.

driving fast to win millions of dollars > driving fast to get to work, school wherever else thats not at the checkered flag.

I don't really have the patience to watch a nascar race on the TV. But its a different story when I actually go to races, I live real close to the Lowes Speedway.

Bernie Ecclestone crapped on the F1 with so many crazy rules. Those cars are better protected then a secret american super fighter airplane.

Rally is really fun. But Nascar is not...I don't get...200 laps...going around, around and around...
