jedispy
So with Star Wars' sextology (yuck..that sounds dirty) coming to an end, and Star Trek dying, where do we Sci Fi nerds go from here? Stargate TV shows I've never been much of a Stargate fan. I loved the movie, but I always felt like it had something crucial that is missing from the TV shows: non-suckiness. I'm not kidding. In the movie we had Kurt Russel playing an awesome kick@$$ character. So we replace him with...Mac Guyver?!?!?! Please tell me this is a sick joke!! Battlestar Galactica on Sci Fi channel A potential replacement. It does a little better than the original BSG (which was nothing more than a sick star wars rip off) Rumored SW tv show. Eh...still iffy on this one. I don't know if we should intentionally try to ruin a good thing. Any other ideas?

jedispy
Well even then they had the hopes of one day getting a prequel trilogy. The rumors were always around.
Kurgan
Fandom doesn't die just because new content isn't coming out for that fandom. Sides, there's plenty of other sci fi out there. 'Nuff said.
jedispy
Fandom doesn't die just because new content isn't coming out for that fandom. Certainly. That's proven in that people still love Shakespeare & Mozart. My point is that 2005 will be a major turning point in Science Fiction/Fantasy. With ST dead like a smelly rotting dog carcass, and SW ending (with dignity intact), it's the end of a huge era.

Sivy
star wars will be continue as long as people want it to. I believe that’s what the head of lucasfilm said before confirming that there will be two star wars TV shows (one live, one animated) plus we’ll still have books, comics, computer games to look forward to

Lieutenant_kettch
it'll be the same thing you all did between films, not just between trilogies, but even between episodes. looking forward to another film doesn't really give you something to do. so what do we do? play the games, read the books, do what we've always done

Cheech Marin
You obviously still have a lot to learn if you think Richard Dean Anderson is a bad actor and that BSG sounds "promising." BSG had a grand total of only 2 space battles in its entire first season!
jedispy
Don't get me wrong. Richard Dean Anderson is a good actor, but he's no Kurt Russel. The character from the movie is so different in the TV show that's it's a sick joke. They might as well had Halle Berry or Michelle Yeoh play the part. It would have been just as close. I think Anthony Hopkins is a good actor. However, put him in a martial arts movie with Stephen Segal or Jean Claude Van Damme and....well...see my point? RD Anderson is not the right person for this part. BSG only looks promising. I haven't watched much of it though. Too much standing around and talking about stuff. It's as bad as ST the motion picture. "Hey let's stand around all day and talk about how V-Ger's gonna tell us to turn our heads and cough." That's not good sci-fi. In my opinion (and yes, that's exactly what it is, my opinion), shows like Stargate SG1/Atlantis and the modern BSG are PULP sci-fi. They are joined by Earth Final Conflict and Andromeda. Pulp.
