Who's seen the HHGTTG movie yet? Did you like it? I heard it was fantasticular.

I haven't seen it yet, and I can't think of when I'll have a chance to see it. Maybe if it's still out in theaters by the beginning of summer...

Saw it, it was great, and true enought to the book so that it wasn't a bad knockoff. The sequences animated within the actual guide were quite hilarious: ". . .as controversial as his previous books: God's Mistakes, More of God's Mistakes, and Who is this God Person Anyway?"

I Guess I'm gonna be the only thorn here then. Yeah, it was good, and for the most part stuck to the book (especially in the humour part although it wavered a bit towards the end) but...

Yeah but Joshi, don't ya think they did those things because there won't be a sequal? If there isn't a sequal then they gotta tie up the ends in the first film haven't they? :atat:

I loved it. Great film, great entertainment... everyone should see it, even if they haven't read the books. I heard the critics were a little divided on this, but I don't tend to follow critics anyway (I'm not a sheep like Remi is ;D)

I heard Disney confirmed two sequels, but don't quote me on that...

I liked it, and would see it again, but I have a few small complaints, mostly the same as Joshi... I.E.: the love story and dumbing-down Zaphod.

I honestly tried to watch it with a totally open mind, and not as someone who has read each of the books about 500 times, watched the BBC TV series dozens of times, and who has memorized practically every line of the radio scripts.

All in all, it really could have been a LOT worse... and that's something I really feared.

The books are still the greatest part of the H2G2 multiverse, however.

Brighty you're right! its so good to have a proper good british film for once... it didnt last as long as i expected, but then maybe i was just really indulged in it... i havent read the book(s) but i know someone that has, and they said it kept all the same lines et cetera... (well, you know, the narrator and all...)

...Yeah, it's always good to have a good british film... And with only american actors as well!

Yeah, plus the fact that it's set in Britian, filmed in Britain, made by Brits, directed by Brits, written by a British author... need I go on? :)

And if anything having some of the actors as American kinda makes it more British. ;)

That is true, but the radio series was at first a nice success and people didn't really know there was going to be a sequel then (as far as I know).

I suppose I'm biased because I've read the books and think the book ending is better, but it could have worked as the book had it. But I guess that's Hollywood for you (or as close to Hollywood as Disney can get).

I'd still suggest the movie to anyone, whether you've read the books or not, just s you can say you've seen it and make up your own mind about it.
