Thrawn Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Hi all, Just thought I'd drop by and see what was going on around these parts:) How is everybody? I hope all is well. I'm getting ready for my junior year of college. A few hundred dropped on books and I'm all set.
edlib Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 You're still alive?!?? *(Memo to all forces: THIS is a mistake not to be tolerated!!! Whoever is responsible for this error will be summarily executed! That is all. Supreme commander out...)* Oh, the usual... you, know: new forum software, one active thread, a tiny handful of hardcore hanger's-on, and Nute's having problems with the female gender. So what's up with you? Good to see an old face in these parts again. Stick around and keep us company!
Keyan Farlander Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Hey Thrawn. I'm surprised you're still alive. I just assumed the profs at UMCP drove you to suicide. Good to see you're still hanging in there.
Admiral Odin Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Hey Thrawn, been a long time. Next week I have to go buy books for classes, this was paying the tuition. Lets see learning the Hammered Dulcimer and the Bodhran. Otherwise nothing much.
Ikhnaton Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 always try to buy your books online. I usually use half.com.
Cmdr. Cracken Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Not much, about to start at a real university this fall, work, new car, and noting how i'm about to be 1.3 million dollars poorer now that you're ali.... i mean... >.> <.< ^^
Commander 598 Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 What the...? He's alive...?! *Mental Note: Execute two Lieutenants and move on to Plan B. They can't miss with this one...*
Thrawn Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 This quick reply feature is nice. No, the professors have not forced me to violent action...yet. Other than class related stuff, I'll be a full staff writer this semester for the humor paper, the Maryland Cow Nipple. Glad to see the fleet coming back together, and as long as Cracken continues to be poor, all is well in the world:)
Keyan Farlander Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 No, the professors have not forced me to violent action...yet. Other than class related stuff, I'll be a full staff writer this semester for the humor paper, the Maryland Cow Nipple. Is that what that was? A humor paper? I thought they were running some kind of experiment where they just let chimps type randomly and then publish it and put it in my mailbox whether I wanted it or not.
Cmdr. Cracken Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 How does my being continually poor have to do with the world being in a state of "Allrighty-ness"? It's not like even if i had the money i could afford the giant death-ray..... well... actually... there is eBay.....
Commander 598 Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 Well, time to see if Nine's credit card(s) still work...
Thrawn Posted August 21, 2005 Author Posted August 21, 2005 Well, the chimps still write, but they've been regulated to their own page. Oh and don't worry, if we find out where you live I'll make sure it gets to you whether you really want it or not;)
Nute Gunray Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Its a scientific fact that the "Terrapin" is a terrible mascot.
Nitro Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Ah, but at least our mascot is know. All our base are belong to you?
Nute Gunray Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Ah, but at least our mascot is know. I'd wager my mascot is even more widely known. Something on the order of one in every 720 people in the US went to Penn State. One in every 1800 is actually a member of the alumni association.
Cmdr. Cracken Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 wierd...... Penn State is that popular, eh?
Nute Gunray Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Its one of the biggest universities around. The main campus used to be one of the top five largest student bodies in the world, but its slipped a little (still huge) and the entire system is still one of the largest. There's 42,000 students in State College and about 40,000 spread out through out the other 20+ campuses. Three of them are in the 3000-3500 student range. The football stadium is the largest physical structure of a sports arena (non-raceway) in the US and is the second largest in capacity (101,262). For comparison, on gameday, the stadium would constitute the fifth largest city in Pennsylvania.
Gold leader Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 Back to the what's shaking; I'm alive, kicking and busy trying to become an Aerospace engineering MSc. Interesting topic I'm dealing with btw: sling loads under a CH-47 Chinook helicopter.
Nute Gunray Posted August 26, 2005 Posted August 26, 2005 There. I summed my recent vacation in three pictures.
Nute Gunray Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 That was down at Cape Hatteras itself. Avon's sand wasn't that bad, but it was still pretty lousy. Almost like small gravel.
Thrawn Posted August 27, 2005 Author Posted August 27, 2005 Ah, the Outer Banks. I was down there last year myself all the way down at the end of Hatteras. It was early June so I literally had the beach to myself, except for the seagulls that is. I know more than I ever wanted to about the Wright Brothers since I now work at the College Park Aviation Museum, where Wilbur came to teach the first U.S. Army officers to fly. (end advertisment)
