How do I beat the Sith Govenor?

Well, if you have T3, you probably should just keep using the flamethrower even if it runs out, it will give him massive damage. Oh, and by the way, you might want to put this in the Padawan's Lounge instead of the Unknown Regions, which is about rumors of KIII. The Padawan's Lounge is the Forum for hints and tips, where you will get a lot of help if you are stuck.

Vibro weapons.

One of the first things that he does is sheild up. Blasters are pretty much useless against him and there aren't too many disruptors around at that point. I usually take T3 with me long enough to open the door and hack the system, then turn around, leave, and swap him out for Zaalbar. Load everyone up with stims and vibro weapons take him out ASAP.

t3 is a big help in the base...especially because if you use him to attack the sith governor, he'll draw the governor's attacks while your character and whoever else you dragged along (i always use bastila) can smack the crap out of the governor.

@ Sprinkle: T3 ALWAYS draws his attention? Interestingly enough I quit using T3 because he was usually the last one standing. Isn't "drawing" very many attacks if everyone else ends up dead before him.

@Venom750: *wonders how Carth's blaster fire fairs against the Governor's personal sheilds*

Yeah, Bastila (with the force powers) is a given, but I have to question your use of Carth. Zaalbar or even Mission with her Sneak Attack seem more prudent than a ranged fighter.

achilles, t3 draws the attacks *if* you use t3 to attack him, i.e., switch to controlling t3 and continue using him until he's completely worn down, using shields and repair kits to sustain him if you have them. in my experience the governor tends to focus his attention on whichever character the player is controlling, and ignores the other characters while they smack him around.

That's a good theory, but I don't think I've ever observed anything that supports it. The Governor usually activates his shield, casts some force powers, and starts whomping on whomever's closest. If you're telling me that you lead the charge with T3, then I have to question your sanity, as T3 only needs one or two hits to be taken out completely. He doesn't have that many hit points due to class and a low constitution. His DEX modifier is nice but it's not enought to make him a superhero.

Plus, he's a ranged fighter which the Governor's shields completely negate (unless you have some melee fighters whoopin' up on him with some vibro weapons). He has some fun gadgets, but as you point out, you really have to be on top of your party managment for it to work. Not worth the trouble (IMHO) when you could just have melee fighters doing the dirty work.

To each their own, and you're obviously committed to having T3 in your party. With all due respect to that though, using either T3 or Carth doesn't make much sense. Zaalbar and Bastila are much better choices for ending the fight quickly and cleanly.

How do I get t3 to have the flamethrower? I don't think he can do that yet.

You can find the flamethrower in the armory at the sith base I think, also with some nice ion weapons to destroy that big droid guarding the elevator. Just give T3 the flamethrower, have a sheild ready for him to equip and give Bastila a lightsaber and give your character your best vibro-sword weapons and have them upgraded. Make sure all the characters are completely leveled up before you face the govenor and he will go down in very short order. Then you can get the launch codes, go get Canderous, break into Davik's estate, grab his ship and get the hell outta there!

Yeah, Achilles. You don't know what you're talking about man. I mean, you've only created walk-thru guides and created some kick-a$$ mods for both KotOR and TSL, not to mention breaking down all the influence points for TSL. [cowboy drawl] Shee-oot, what do you know about successful strategy for beating the Sith Governor on Taris anyway??!! These here whippersnappers have already got it all figgered out! [/cowboy drawl] [/sarcasm]

Feel free to question my sanity, Achilles...i do constantly. =)

But I do know that the method worked, at least for me. The mileage of others may of course vary.

You're right, though, it's definitely Bastila doing the real work (for me) during that fight.

HaiWan: i didn't feel any disrespect was explicit or implied in my original post or my follow-up, but you're welcome to disagree.

!?!?!?! No one mentioned the big bang theory? What you do is you bring Zaalbar and Bastila. When you get to the govenor DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR . Get Zaalbar (or you if you want) to lay all your mines (except gas mines) in front of the door. Switch to solo mode and move Zaalbar and Bastila to the far wall. Open the door and go through the dialogue however you want. Then when the chat is over run back and he'll run over allthem mines. Big bang will happen, and then a nice little framerate drop may happen. It usually kills him on easy/normal mode, but only takes him down to half on difficult.

@ Hallucination - having Zaalbar set mines definitely sounds like an effective method for dispatching the Gub'ner but while effective I personally wouldn't find much satisfaction using it. I'm an anti-mine kind of guy...

@ spinkle - If T3 works for you in this particular situation then more power to ya. I haven't tried it though and may decide to test it out one of these days to see if you're right. ;) At present though I am inclined to think that T3 wouldn't last more than 2-3 rounds at which point I would be left with two party members and a somewhat weakened Sith Governor. Of course I may still be able to win the fight with Bastila and the PC but I think Achilles was simply outlining what he believes the most effective way to defeat the Sith Governor on Taris, which simply put is use your best melee fighters and forget about the ranged weapons. While you're method may work I personally wouldn't consider it the most effective. If you believe otherwise though I would welcome the presentation of your case.

In regards to your references about disrespect, it's all a matter of one's personal view on the matter. I feel fairly confident that Achilles won't post in this thread again so read whatever you may into that. My take is that he made his case, other posters didn't really seem to accept his arguments, so he decided not to waste any more of his time and said hasta la vista, baby.

My perception of this thread was one forum member who made a case and supported his argument with strong reasons while everyone else pretty much stated "this is the way I do it" and that was it. Personally I would take the advice of the one who made the stronger argument and who has also taken the time to make a complete walk-thru of the game. My initial post in this thread was my way of expressing my support for Achilles argument. Unfortunately I can't seem to grasp the concept :fist: that I can't successfully emote in writing so I really shouldn't have said anything about it to begin with. :(

hai wan, the best people (that haven't written walkthroughs) can offer is their personal experience (i.e., "this is the way I do it") which may prove valuable--at the very least as an alternative method for people who will play through the game multiple times with multiple strategies and a willingness to explore the available options. i just wanted to make it clear that i was not attempting to undermine Achilles while in the process of justifying my own strategy (or lack thereof).

Understood. :) It's your strategy and you have every right to state it here. This is a discussion board and members aren't expected to agree on everything all the time. I'm one that believes there is always more than one way to skin the proverbial cat.

Take Halluciation's method as an example. To me his strategy sounds like it would be fairly effective but I personally wouldn't use it because I don't like to use mines. So I'm not saying his strategy is "wrong" just that I wouldn't use it because of my personal playing preferences.

my most brilliant idea ever.

@ hai wanwhat are gonna use all those low leved landmines for and besides its quit funny watching him explode also when you put down all 15 mines it truns into a white ball without the sweeps.

P.S for best results don't use gas mines they are a waste of mine space

Most of the people that write those walkthroughs seem to think you need some big elaborate strategy to kill some character in the game. Many times you just need to use common sense and youll end up defeating the character. Most areint that hard to beat if you just keep up on leveling up your character and upgrading your best weapons.

I died a couple times when I went through that just now, my character was level four. Consequently, I didn't know that saving levels was as good not getting experience until just then, when it didn't really matter because I couldn't go anywhere. Since I had hardly done anything, Bastila hadn't even leveled up enough to have Cure. I had to go back, do some more things, and use that Arena thing, where you let yourself die and keep getting medpacks from the first aid bin.
