What games would you like to be made in the KotOR time period?

What games or type of games would you like to see made about the KotOR time period? I would like to see a flight simulator, like one where you are a Republic/Sith fighter pilot, and perhaps a Strategy game for KotOR. I think it would be cool if there was a Battlefront type game that was set in that time period, you could have Bastila Shan as a Republic hero and Darth Bandon as a Sith hero etc., different units for each, and so on.

I would like it if they made other rpgs that weren't in the KotOR saga, but just around it, where you are someone else, or you can just be a pirate, or a merchant, or a Soldier fighting against that Sith on your own quest. What do you think would be cool to play?

Mandalore Quest. Whom ever can find Mandalore's helmet becomes leader of the Mandalorians. Players will engage in battles with treacherous Mandalorians, the deadly beasts of the Dxun moon, outwit Jedi and Dark Jedi alike, all to gain the respect of the Mandalorian Clans and succeed the the former Leader of The Clans. And in doing so, you shall gain the title and rank of Mandalore.

Mandalore Quest II: Conquer the Galaxy! Currently unfinished. Wait for Mandalore Quest 3 to complete the trilogy. :D

You know what game I think they should make ASAP?

Knights of the Old Republic III

I agree...BUT, the longer they take, the less (hopefully) glitches there will be.

Better safe, than sorry.

I mean...DO YOU WANT to experience massive amounts of glitches like in KOTOR 2 The Sith Lords?

No? Then...DON'T RUSH IT. (I'm just as anxious as you, but, I also don't want to experience stupid a$$ glitches.)

I would like to see...

Bounty Hunters of the Old Republic

Have the games mixed a little, when you are on a planet or a station the gameplay is like the KOTOR series, scrap the D20 system though and go back to the D6 system, when you go to space it plays like the game Freelancer. Including being able to buy new ships.

This would allow for you to be able to upgrade/equip both your ship and your character, you travel around collecting bounties, or other such work along with having your main and side quests.

You get a mission to go out to the Zagross Asteroid field and bring back the criminal Gouru... you fly out in your ship, you encounter Gouru blast his ship to kingdom come, tractor in his lifepod along with some other goodies, what are they? 2 Heavy Blaster Cannons, you get back to where you recieved the bounty, collect your reward and then mount those 2 Cannons on the 2 free weapon mounts you had, or you sell them for even more credits.

Sounds cool to me! :) That could be one huge game! :D

EDIT:

The bounty hunter game also looks interesting, maybe even add a trading part to the game, just for extra credits. And some smuggling would be nice.

That would be a given, having some cargo survive after you vaporise someone is a needed function (Free Loot = Good Thing!), even being able to go out to asteroid belts and mine ores. Or earn credits hauling cargo between places, or smuggling spice.

Though I called it Bounty Hunters of the Old Republic, I was thinking the 3 Starting Classes would be Bounty Hunter, Smuggler, and Scout. Bounty Hunters typically would start with and typically use a Patrol Craft, Smugglers would start with and typically use a Light Freighter, and Scouts would start with and typically use a Scout Craft.

Being able to buy new ships would give you the ability to own whichever class of ship you wanted no matter your character. Each type of ship would have it's specialty, Patrol Craft would exel at combat and have the most weapon mounts, Light Freighters could mount smuggling compartments and external cargo pods for maximum hauling capability, Scout Craft would have the capability to mount the most powerful of engines and have the advantage of speed.

Of course as you progress through the game you get the ability to purchase more powerful ships, IE ones that can take more powerful upgrades.

Kind of the best of both games from Freelancer and KOTOR. ;)

Personally I ahve these ideas:

*A Jedi Knight "prequel". A game set in the kotor era, but with the tag and mechanics of the Jedi Knight series.

*A strategy game, involving the Sith and Mandalorian wars.

*A high-quality shooter game of a gangster, maybe Canderous or Calo.

Maybe a prequel to KotOR where you play as a padawan who is sent on a mission by the Jedi Council to follow Revan into the war and try to get them to come home. If you go Light Side, you abandon them to go back to the Jedi. If you go Dark Side, you stay with them and find the Star Forge.

Nice ideas you guys got. I like the strategy game, preferably one with both space and ground combat, however NOT the space combat of SW:GB, I'm talking big ships, really big ships and 'look at the size of that thing' ships. Perhaps some missions following KOTOR, but the main part before KOTOR (so we can play with the Mandalorians).

How about a space simulator where you play as a Sith pilot. These can even be set during KOTOR, possibly even defending the SF (but you will have to use the DS ending).

Another RPG could be nice, but this time start as a Sith, and maybe around the same time as KOTOR. Ending in perhaps boarding the Endar Spire, where you just see Carth leave. Could also be for a shooter.

I generally like the idea of 'starting as a Sith for a change'.

The bounty hunter game also looks interesting, maybe even add a trading part to the game, just for extra credits. And some smuggling would be nice. Maybe even some illegal upgrades for your ship, or upgrades that the Republic considers illegal, but the Sith don't. Being outlawed on some planets, because of a few too many shootouts in the cantina, or with the authorities who discovered your illegal cargo of disruptors. Or even in entire systems or the Republic or Sith, because you blew up too many of their ships during your getaway. Add torpedo launchers to your ship, but you have to pay for the torps themselves, whereas you don't have to pay for firing your lasers (but you do need a better reactor for the energy).

why not go for a 'Republic Commando' type deal, except use Mandalorians?? a squad of elite Mandalorians wouldn't exactly be out of place, and if you can get the gameplay done right, it could end up being a lot of fun. and it would give you another perspective on the Mandalorian Wars, kinda like the way 'TIE Fighter' did way back in the day.... ;)

and i'm liking RH's idea as well. :)

I would like too see a fighting game based on SW...

There was SW Masters of Teras Kasi on PS, but it sucked near the best fighting games on SONY...

It would be funny to play a REALISTIC fight simulator, like Bushido Blade was, but with Lightsabers and Force powers... =)

About the plot => I want to see the corruption of Revan and the Mandalorian Wars, 'bout which we heard alot in KOTOR One and TSL, but doesn't take part in them... (Except, maybe, Exile's glitches on Korriban) =)

P.S. And, about KOTOR 3 => I wish, that guys at LucasArts better COMPLETE the game before releasing it... TSL was a little... umm... unfinished?

P.P.S. And I want more Tatooine! =)))

The bounty hunter game also looks interesting,

I added a little to that post, FYI! :D

Maybe even some illegal upgrades for your ship, or upgrades that the Republic considers illegal, but the Sith don't.

Technically all the most powerful of upgrades would be illegal, but fortunately there is no way to regulate these.

The only thing you could get nailed for would be having an Illegal Cargo that isn't shielded by a Smuggling Compartment. ;)

And yes you would have to purchase ammo for your Warhead Launchers, Proton Torpedo Launchers, Concussion Launchers, etc. :D

I also had something in mind about your life before you became a a spacer. Perhaps a sub class to your class, or that you have 2 classes. One could be former Jedi (like Jolee tels you he was, could give you the ability to gain slightly more money using the Force), an orphin/stowaway (used to living in harsh environments), a former slave (perhaps looking for revenge on the slavers), escaped prisoner.

Another thing is how you got your ship, you stole/boarded it, you won it in a game of Pazaak, you simply and legally bought it (boring).

Technically all the most powerful of upgrades would be illegal, but fortunately there is no way to regulate these.

Another thing to implement being outlawed is that you could have a different status with every group. Your status with the Sith will increase when you complete jobs for them, such as spying on the Republic, capturing some high Republic scumbag, assasination missions, delevering supplies to a blockaded Sith planet. If you complete these missions without crossing the Republic fleet the Republic wouldn't know you were helping the Sith, but if they catch you while you're on your mission, they wouldn't be too pleased.

The Republic in turn could offer you the same jobs as the Sith, however when working for the Republic you won't have as many assasination missions,on the other hand you would have a bit more supply missions, or even delivering medical supplies to the population of a random planet, as that would fit on what the Republic stands for.

The Sith missions don't always have to anger the Republic, and the Republic missions also don't always have to anger the Sith. The Sith don't care if some unisolated Republic planets need food, and you bring it to them. The republic doesn't care if you supply Sith forces on some remote planet that isn't involved in the war.

There could also be an area of lawless space, such as Hutt space (Tatooine), where you don't have the protection of either group, but you can shoot every ship you see. Off course when you actually do fire on the wrong ship (a powerfull pirate group or smuggling group) you can still end up in trouble. On the other hand you can also become a part of one or more of the groups (just don't let any group find out you're also working with other groups).

These space territories can also be used to regulate the kind of equipment you may carry. If for example you have a high status with the Sith, they wouldn't mind you using overly powerfull guns. However if your status with the Sith is somewhat low they would shoot you down if you so much as look at their ships. The Sith also generally wouldn't care about shootouts near their planets (this also goes both ways). However if the like you, you may have earned their protection.

The Republic would mostly be the same, if something is illegal, it's also illegal for you, so no turning blind eyes. Also the Republic will always protect you, unless you attack/have attacked them. However if you attack any other vessel the Republic will come after you (so if you need to kill somebody and they're in Republic space, stalk them untill they're out and than blast them to bits).

Actually jedi3112 a faction system like in Freelancer would alleviate the problems of alliances, to get in good with one faction reduces your popularity with others. Otherwise it could easily work as you said.

Also a game like I stated needs no Jedi in it so no Jedi or the Force, they are not necissary. Remember it is not Knights of the Old Republic.

This game would be made for playing a PC as either a Bounty Hunter, Smuggler, or Scout... being you are at the start of your career we don't need to fill in any background. Though one could easily be set by the initial game dialogues. By a strict RPG sense all PC's were something before they became what they are so you cannot benefit from anything like the subclass idea. So no additional skills, powers, etc.

The best start would be you have a freind on this planet, that freind says he has a job for you, so you spend most all of your credits getting there, only to find your freind dead, piecing together his killing would be your first game quest. Your freinds very dealings and background that you find out about him could get your character involved with the main plot as well. :)

How you get your first ship is easy. And would be the main quest point of the first planet you start the game on, on it you would have to find a way to aquire a ship, this would be different for each class.

Remember the starting vessels gotten on this world would be the cheapest ones in the game and just be meant as starter ships, as they should be. As you progress through the game you would gain access to purchasing stronger base hulls and equipment. The most powerful equipment you will have to find, just like personal items. ;)

I really like the BHotOR idea, I think that if they do it right it would be cool. Fly around in your ship, make deals, do quests, and go down on land, maybe if you are a scout you could explore new planets and get minerals and materials from them. Then perhaps engage Sith or Republic fighters, you could become a mercenary for either side. Maybe a smaller party, or none at all if you want. You could just fly in a modified Republic A-Wing/Jedi Inter. look-alikes. And then, you could get a host of droids or whatever and assault a Capital Ship.

I think it would be cool if they made a "Generals of the Old Republic" (well, maybe not the name, just what it would be), a strategy game. You would be able to construct space stations, and from there build the Republic Hammerheads/Sith Destroyers, and progress as in technology and ships. Then you could assault a planet, using Jedi, who would be built from a Jedi Temple, and Republic Soldiers, vehicles, droid units, anything. Perhaps they could have specific story missions that you could do, like controlling Bastila and her Jedi, along with the ships while she was boarding Revan's flagship. Or you could be General Dodonna fighting the Star Forge. Or the fight at Malachor V. Or play as the Wookiees/Sand People/Rakata/Selkath/Mandalorians/Exchange/Czerka etc., all doing there own story driven missions.

And then heroes, with roles in story missions. You may have to protect them, or get them somewhere. Like Bastila is a hero when you are boarding Revans flagship, or Freyyr/Chuundar/Zaalbar fighting Trandoshans or Czerka. The Tusken storyteller, or the cheiftan when fighting Czerka on Tattooine. The One when fighting amongst the Rakata, or Mandalore during the Mandalorian wars. It could turn out really good.

Oh, and about making a Mandalorian Commando or whatever, actually that is what RC is; They are clones from a Mandalorian, and they are wearing armor that was based on Mandalorians. So, in a sense, you already are playing that.
