Axe Windu Posted November 11, 2005 Share Posted November 11, 2005 Ok now I thought these new star wars movies were awesome but mostly because Obiwon was cool, Mace Windu is the man, Yoda is amazing, and I love lightsabor fighting. The storyline though... no... besides for listening to the metachlorian concieved masia wine about his mom and his respect and all that bull in the second movie, crying about it, the way this third movie made anikan made me wanna vomit. Palpatine: "Hi Im Senator Palpatine, Im a sith lord, my race is known for lying and deception, could I offer you a dubius sollution to all your problems?" Anikan: "Sure! Even though I have no reason to believe you I'm compelled to deny a lifetime of hard work, training, and benevolance in exchange for a vagure promise about a cure for a potentual ailment my wife my have based on a premonition from a 20 second dream sequence" Senator Palpatine seduces Anakin to the dark side in about as much time as it takes for you to finish reading this sentence. Nevermind the fact that Anakin knows Palpatine is a Sith lord before accepting his offer, or that Sith lords are known for doing things like KILLING MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. Anakin is on a mission to save his wife, Padme, from certain death! Or at least likely death. Okay, it was a dream. But it seemed pretty real during the flashback sequence, so Anakin has no reason not to believe this dream will come true, as is the tendency of dreams. Now Anikan went from defending the galaxy from evil to saying I will do anything for you master to a very evil looking palpatine in a matter of days. He went from respecting and taking orders from the Jedi council to attacking Mace Windu. Loving Obiwon to hating him. Literally in like a week he went from upholding the values of a Jedi to killing younglings. Why did all this happen? Because he loves Padme. He did this to save her. Thats why the first thing he does when he turns evil is literally chokes her with the force. Though I was waiting for someone to choke padme this single act unravels the entire plot of the movie. Now one would argue he was corrupted by the force at this point right... wrong... if that was the case then the first thing he asked as the DARk lord of the siTH Vader wouldnt have been is padme safe? Not only did it take away Vaders bad ass image but it also contridicted him choking padme which contridicted the plot. Another thing... I know the dark side clouded them whatever but how stupid are the Jedi. Yoda can sense subtle emotions in someone like fear and anger but he cant sense a giant conspiracy involving millions of storm troopers and almost the entire republic. Seroiusly... lets look at this... big evil... unauthorized clone trooper production... crazy dictator who put himself in power... at the same time the dark side blinds there powers... hmmm this is tough real tough whats going on here. There retarded... totally stupid. Also Anikan was supposed to bring balance to the force. At the time they thought the Sith were extinct and it was like thousands of Jedi. It isn't like he's here to defend his basis. Are you implying that this is your opinion on the matter, and you're simply using his review to express your opinion? The reason Anakin gave himself so willingly was because he feared losing Padme, he would do anything for her to live, and that means ANYTHING. Plus the fact that Palpy was influencing Anakin since he was just a boy means that he was on the path to the dark side long before anyone realised. If I were Anakin, I would've done exactly the same things he did do. If killing billions of people could bring back the one I loved or save the one I loved, I'd so do it, no matter how wrong it is. Of course it's easy to rationalise when you're detached from the emotion and simply watching. But for anyone who does understand what Anakin was going through, it's very easy to see why he did everything he did. So you make a pact with the devil... what happens next? You become the devil. That's why Anakin ended up choking Padme. He lost who he was and became an agent of evil, at that point he was no longer Anakin Skywalker. The thing about the Sith are that they are quick to anger, they use their passion and this can lead them to do hasty things. But like Padme and Luke said, there is still good in him. The thing is, when Vader woke up in that suit he he thought he had lost every thing, his wife, his child, nothing mattered, at least until Luke showed up in A New Hope. Anakin does bring balance to the Force, he destroyed the Sith (Palpy and himself). By the end of Jedi the Sith may be destroyed but that doesn't mean all evil has been destroyed, it just means that the good isn't clouded by evil anymore, it's a balance. Regarding this article, though, I'd say that he's focusing only on the supreme negative aspect of the movie. If you killed an innocent man, would you just live on, and face your friends and family? I think he was twisted beyond all recognition. His love for Padme was the only thing that remained, but when she brought in obi-Wan,In his state Anakin couldn't possibly know that it wasn't on purpose, that was gone too. Also, in the licensed (so it's true) books, he sends people to investigate Padme's death. In my opinion: He's like scyzophrenic. (hope is spelled it right) and he has two sides: Anakin (the lovely little guy) and Darth Vader. When eh choked Padme, it was vader. Not Anakin.
