Admiral Sith Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 So if they dont put Venator in, are you guys going to? Even though it doesnt refer to your mod at all
xSiri_Tachix Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Empire at War is between the prequel trilogy and the old trilogy, so it stands to reason that they would include the “transition” ships between both universes? I hope so. I still think that the Venator will be in the game. I really like that ship, and I hope that it is still in. If you go to the main site the x-wing movie is now up on the list. Just before the x-wing movie was posted it wasn’t on the list, but we all knew that the x-wing would be in the game, so the Venator will probably be next in a video.
Jan Gaarni Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Yes, but the game does start 4 years before ANH and 16 years after RotS. Roughly.
shadowsfm Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 and the reb version is the morador corvette
Jan Gaarni Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Rebs version to what?!? The Venator? The Marauder Corvette isn't big enough to hold that many fighters as the Ventator can. It's barely 200 meters long. The Venator is alittle over 1100. If that was indeed what you were getting at.
xSiri_Tachix Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Yes, but the game does start 4 years before ANH and 16 years after RotS. Roughly. The Correlian Corvette is in ROTS and ANH, so maybe the Venator is still in?
xhh2a Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 I hope its a screw up and that it's not removed because of balancing, release, or expansion reasons. Venators wouldn't remove the rebels advantage because remember, it's less powerful(why in a fleet you need small and big isd's to win), and easily destoryed.

I think that the Venator might at least be one of the ships you start out with, and then maybe you research other classes of ships that make it obsolete eventually?
gamefreak Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Star Destroyer Tech goes: Victory Venator Imperator (renamed) Imperial shotly after the transition Not including misc. star destroyers or improved star destroyer ex: Victory II So as you can see if there going to include the Vic not to mention the acclamator(I know its not a star destroyer just so no one asks) then they would have to include the Venator
nisomer Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 actually im pretty sure that the venator comes before the victory. just compare the way the 2 ships look and its obvious that the victory looks more like the imperator, and the venator would probably be the predecessor of the 2.
Jan Gaarni Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Well, the Corellian Corvette had a much broader customer base compared to the Venator which was a contracted deal for the Republic Starfleet only.
gamefreak Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 I know it seems likely that its Ven then Vic but Ive read lots of places thats its Vic then Ven... I think Starwars.com said it... Ill check
Logain Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 arent they designed around the same time, the ven was designed more as a carrier, and the Vic as a battleship?
gamefreak Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 I looked on starwars.com and they dont say exactly but they say that the vic was disgned by Blissex (dont know first name) and after he died (mid clonewar) his daughter Designes the Ven then marries Denn Wessex and designes the imperial Class. edit:Yes logain the vic is a battle criuser and the Ven is a carrier criuser
Logain Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 exactly, so it doesnt matter the order they were made in, their different types of ship, and really shouldnt be compared
Jan Gaarni Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 They were designed roughly at the same time. Walex Blissex designed the Victory-Class for Rendili StarDrive. His daughter, Lira Blissex, was part of the group that designed the Venator-Class for Rhothana Heavy Engineering, a subsidiary of Kuat Drive Yards. She later took her fathers work and her own, and created the Imperator-Class.
nisomer Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 explain the diff between battle cruiser and carrier cruiser? because seriously i dont see the different uses of a venator compared to a imperator star destroyer. they both seem like they would be a battle cruiser and a carrier, both with the same uses.
gamefreak Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 The Vic held low amounts of fighters but big guns, the Ven holds tons of fighters smaller guns, and the Imperial is more of a highbrid holding madium amounts of fighters and large guns. I just used battle criuser and carrier criuser to show a differnce. I dont think it is the "official" clasification.
zeni Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 i hope they put it back ingame..... its my favourite destroyer/carryer class..... :-(
Darth_Extas Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Currently with the recent update is showing the venator not in? but we still cannot be sure.
arkodeon Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Well. Can anyone tell me what the hell a Broadside-Class Cruiser is? Perhaps they have renamed the Venator into Broadside?
shadowsfm Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 http://img.gamespot.com/gamespot/images/2005/333/reviews/925180_20051130_screen005.jpg the one by the green triangle. its a missle boat
