Will there be a unit/population cap?

Yes, there are pop caps, and they are a part of the strategic and tactical elements of gameplay. Galactic mode has a large pop cap that you can increase based on the strength of your space stations and how many planets you have under your control. In space combat, the pop cap is a set to 20 and cannot be increased

Before i begin, i what u to take close attation to the Words that i have Highlighted. Because is seem to me that alot of you might have got the wrong end of the stick, with ethier not reading it properly or going on want other ppl have said.

The 20 pop cap is not the maximum units/companys that you can contol though out the SW galaxy.

The 20 pop cap, is the max size of any of your fleets that are about to start in combat.

This has been done, because of 2 reasons:-

1) This game is set b4 A new hope, there wasn't large space battles as the Empire was recoving from the Clone Wars and the Rebs were just starting to form up.

2) Star Wars cap ships are not very manuverable, so the if there was a large space battle, a Star Destroyer could not manuver as good to Attack its target because it would be trapped between its allys.

Lastly, for those of you who relased this or take offance i am sorry.

if that was the case then fighters would be free? cause there are those also

hope someone can ask petro about the pop cap soon so we can have a good idea on how big the space battle's can actually get (although that picture looks nice)

In galactic conquest mode, can you set the amount of planets to play with in the galactic map?

The number of planets in the campaigns is locked. However, in Galactic Conquest play, the number of planets is based on the particular scenario you are playing. Some are large galaxies with over 40 planets, some are only 10 planets, and others are in between.

Will there be a galactic map with two planets and space in-between? How many players will be supported? 1v1, 2v2, 3v3?

Will there be a unit/population cap?

My prediction is that most units will be created in groups but act as one unit except for large units like capital ships.

Will the capital ship and fighter relationship in EAW resemble that of Protoss carriers in Star Craft? In Star Craft Protoss carriers build fighters, which don’t add to the population cap, however each carrier can only hold and support so many fighters.

In land combat, the pop cap is related to which and how many reinforcement points you have under your control as an invader. The defender is restricted to a limit of 10 units but has defenses, garrisons and other means of increasing the number of units on the field without affecting the pop cap. In land Skirmish play, the pop cap is based on which and how many reinforcement points are under your control.

I am curious as to how the defender can increase the number of units on the field without affecting the pop cap? What does that mean? Other then that it seems like the attacker will have to capture control points to gain population sort of like settlements in Age of Mythology.

Reinforcement points increase your pop cap by different amounts, and it is important to think about which reinforcement points will benefit you the most. Unit size is also an important factor when strategizing your pop caps; larger units take up more space than smaller units and also use up more of your pop cap points than smaller units.

That is interesting. Maybe hard to defend control points will add more pop slots?

How much you want to bet that the limit is how many fighters your ships can carry.

Yeah. Thats what I was thinking at least for the Tie fighters :tie:

:x-wing: X-wings might work different because they can jump into hyperspace on their own.

Hopefully we will find out soon :)

that's proboably it but if your fighters blow up will they allow you to get more?

Yeah. You will probably have a cap based on how many capital ships you have. I think I read somewhere that you can build more Ties in your Star Destroyers. I don’t remember anything about the Rebels though.

If I'm wrong or missing something feel free to jump in and let me know. Anyone?
