edlib
I probably would have enjoyed Yngwie a lot more if he hadn't been so loud, and had a different singer (or no vocalist at all and just went instrumental.) I'm not a fan of most of his vocal songs. Out of the 3 of them Eric Johnson is the player I like the best, and the one I would most like to sound like. I like Steve Morse even better than him, but he's tied up with Deep Purple these days, and doesn't do much solo or Dixie Dregs tours anymore. Jem
I'm not a fan of most of his vocal songs. So isn't the rest of the world, excluding some asian countries...
edlib
"I am a Viking!..." Yeah, his lyrics are a bit... weak. Why he never released a strictly instrumental album, I'll never know... although someone suggested to me just today that he would have to do a lot more over the top guitar playing all the time, and couldn't just sit back and chill with rhythm work. He'd have to be "on" a lot more in that case... but it doesn't seem like it would be that big a change. Of course, Vai, Satriani, and Johnson all have tried their hands at vocal songs too... with about the same results in every case. Eric Johnson's vocal songs are actually alright, for the most part... I just wish he could get a real singer to do them. He sounds like a chick... and a wimpy one at that. I make a lot of instrumental-only mix CDs. Jem
"I am a Viking!..." Please, there's worse: "I will never die, 'cause I will fly, to the other side!" Does he actually write these himself? Personally, I've compiled all of Yngwie's instrumental pieces together and that's the only thing I listen from him. But he did release a strictly instrumental album, it was called "Concerto Suite". I really like it, actually. Some very nice compositions in there.
edlib
Shows you how closely I've been paying attention... though I did see a thing on cable TV with him playing in front of an orchestra. Is that part of the same thing? It was pretty good... although a couple of the violin players closest to him looked as if they were in pain. edlib
Worked from 8am until midnight yesterday. I'm back in at 11 this morning to do it all again. At least it's the same show... Ugandan music. I can't figure out why I had to be in at 8 yesterday morning though... I could have done everything I did just the same if I had arrived at work at 4:30 or 5. Nothing like getting out of bed before dawn to rush into work and do absolutely nothing for 8 hours to sap any energy you may have had (which wasn't much, since I had only gotten about 2 or 3 hours sleep the night before,) when you began the day. Oh well... it's overtime, so I really shouldn't complain. But I'm a total waste product today, and probably will be all week. I've got a long, long week ahead of me too. Ugh. Nitro
Gave AOL my two weeks notice today... Damn, that felt good. My last shift is May 5th, and I'm moving to Fredericton on May 8th... Subletting the ex's old place 'till the lease is up in August, which will give me time to get used to the city before I start university in the fall, and hopefully find a decent job that'll keep me part time come September. Keyan Farlander
Curse you, Windows XP. Why must you not play all my DOS and Windows 95 games perfectly? Fortunately, I've been able to get pretty much every game working fine in XP. I tried Rebel Assault and Rebel Assault II last night. They worked perfectly except they wouldn't see my joystick. So I had to resort to DOSBox. That works, but it's kind of annoying to have to do it that way.
edlib
Jus' you wait 'till Vista. Been trying to buy a Dell laptop for my mom all morning. It's on a super special deal ($399, with a free wireless card) that ends today. Haven't been able to get through... so I might just miss out this time. Oh well... I offered to order it for her last week, but she refused... until everybody she works with told her she was crazy not to (she's been wanting a laptop for years now.) So this morning she asked me to get it for her after all. Doesn't look at all hopeful. Especially since I've got to leave for work soon. Bummer... but after all: You snooze you lose. Nitro
Mmmm... Weirdness. Why is is that the one time I can't afford to miss work, I get a nasty cold bug and completely lose my voice? I work in a call center, so no voice means no work... ARRGGGGGG!!!
edlib
Use sign language... Mom finally got to order the compy. She did it through work, so she got an additional business discount, as well as speedier shipping. So I guess it all worked out in the end. Now I guess I'm gonna have to set up a wireless network for her...

Rogue15
today was an interesting day, being that it has been about 2 years since stepping foot on fort leonardwood....had the day off so had my dad take a look at my car's transmission fluid, and as i thought, it was empty...stupid leak. -_- so we went to home depot and got some stuff for that. then we went out to go fishing, didn't catch anything though, but had a great time, i got a good sunburn on my arms can't wait til it peels. my mom got back from a women's retreat in new york, where we used to live, and she ran into my old best friend and got his contact information (we were best friends before i moved to fl from ny...) that i've known since 2nd grade, and he's like 3 hours from where i live, he's also in the air force. so i called him up and he lives in new jersey which isnt too far....so i may meet up w/him this month. so i'm a little excited about that, I haven't seen him for about 7 freakin years!! edlib
Yeah... it's been a good weekend to stay in and play games. Sort of... Man, do I feel dumb right about now... I was playing Halo 2 multiplayer on an XBox 360 the other day, and it inspired me to dredge up my copy of Halo for the PC and relive the good ol' days. Well, some of the buttons on my mouse didn't work the way they were supposed to... so after patching the game, and trying a few different configurations, it still didn't obey. So I started playing with my mouse settings... somehow I reset the driver to something utterly incompatible with my hardware. That was fun... ever try to download and reinstall your mouse drivers when the mouse isn't working? It's a bit of a challenge, let me tell you. Go ahead and give it a try sometime... here's a hint: the "Tab" button is your friend. And about your ONLY friend. It's working again now... I haven't tried playing Halo again since that incident. Maybe I have to reinstall the game... but that doesn't make sense, since the same settings seem to work properly in the demo version, which has been on the computer a lot longer than the full version. Oh well... I think a nap is in order. Maybe when I wake up the rain will be gone, and all will be right with my PC. Yeah, right! Well, if nothing else, I might be in a better state of mind. Rogue15
my car is dying. transmission fluid leak ftw! ugh.. and just when i get in touch w/my old buddy, so guess i'll have to cancel my grade school reunion, well i guess i can call it that i dont think anybody else from gradeschool remmebers me. and we were best friends too. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.........gotta look into picking myself up a vehicle....my parents say they will help me get a car (whereas, they pay and i pay them back) so that should be fun, especially with my reckless driving ticket -____- that my insurance company is going to squeel in joy over once i go to switch to up here, plus the fact i've been in a good accident within a year should make them extra happy. o well at least i am in contact w/my old-time friend now.
