DasFlo Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Hey, I was just wondering if anyone associated with petro might give us any idea as to when we should start geting our hopes up for another patch. Also a bit of feedback as to which of the issues the various users have mentioned here you are looking into, and which of them you're regarding minor or even a misunderstood feature I'm geting a bit nervous about the patch since I feel the "keeping in touch with the comunity on the official boards" has worn a bit thin lately p.s: Yes, I know, when it's done edit: oh, and before I forget it... I can't quite wait to have a long deep look at the editing tools (that's what I will do with them, look at them in awe, but others are waiting for them to get their awesome sounding mods going) AND to see other people's replays
Thrawn Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Patience, for the jedi there is time to wait as well. Think of it this way: they could either chat us all up on the boards or work on a patch.
DasFlo Posted March 6, 2006 Author Posted March 6, 2006 I didn't mean to seem impatient. It's just that I'm convinced more open information politics (a little "heads up" from time to time) won't delay anything.
Guest DarthMaulUK Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Ive burnt my fingers so having to type this with my left hand...pah! Petroglyph are checking all feedback but their priority is to get the online side of EaW working. I've been told that they are testing and trying to figure out a patch that will allow players with different firewall settings etc to actually play, without these dis-connections. These things do take time. DMUK (not bad, 8 minutes to type this)
DasFlo Posted March 6, 2006 Author Posted March 6, 2006 Concentrating on the online portion of the game for now is alright. It's what will decide wether this game will be played in a year. Hope they look into the sp-gamebreakers not too far after that, too, though. fix mp - fix sp - hand out sdk and rep-function it is then... I hope! Any informations regarding how they're progressing? Well, thanks for the effort. 8 mins is tough
Foshjedi2004 Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 You Alright DM? Looks Like we won't be playing EAW for a little while....
Kurgan Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Ah well, so it's just as well that I don't have my own copy of this game yet, if it's not really playable online yet. I can wait then.
Jmaster3265 Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Ah well, so it's just as well that I don't have my own copy of this game yet, if it's not really playable online yet. I can wait then. No, it is playable online.
Heavyarms Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 It is playable, but for some reason when I host I get the most success.
DasFlo Posted March 7, 2006 Author Posted March 7, 2006 That reason would be that your firewall is either non-existant or configured well enough to accept incoming connections. Outgoing cons are less of a problem for most configurations. In short you're less dependant on other people having their firewalls/routers/whatever set up propperly Well, just (semi-)educated guesses, though. Also, the SP is still keeping me busy, a lot of time to be spent in there... MP therefore isn't realy an issue for me yet. What WILL be an issue, of course, are those guys who started multiplaying right away without geting everything out of the sp first... guess I'll better get used to "omgz get owned more plz k thx"
Kurgan Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 No, it is playable online. I figured that, I just gathered people were having problems getting it to work or getting frequent disconnections, something a patch might be able to fix (increased stability, reduced latency). Sort of like SWBF2's beta that disconnected you after every match, or Jedi Academy only displaying 30 servers before the patch (even though there were hundreds).
Darth_Torpid-PG Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 It's coming as soon as possible. From what I understand the next patch will be pretty sizable (content-wise) so it's taking longer than the last one. I'll let you know as soon as I know something official, but I'm not really in the loop for the patch stuff these days.
Spiralarchitech Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Pretty sizeable, thats good to hear. I hope the patch sorts out the problems people have been having, though i haven't had too many problems, i know some people have and then some are using the problems to beat up on petroglyph/empire at war especially over at Lucasarts game discussion forums. A good patch will continue to keep this game growing and the community also. (oh and the modders too)
gswift Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Thanks for the info Darth_Torpid-PG. I keep seeing references to surprises, sizable patches, etc... You guys are better at keeping secrets than the Pentagon. Darn. The fixes are a given. What I'm REALLY anxious to see is the afore mentioned 'surprises' that we've been teased about even before release day. You know, I wouldn't tease my dog like this. "wanna treat?, wanna treat?" (dog wags tail) ..."it's coming soon and it's a really good treat!, good dog" (dog is sad and sleeps in other room) hehehe lol
Sithman1138 Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Good pint gswift! LOL! I think this patch will need to have a program to extract and pack model files.
gates1026 Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Has anyone heard of any fixes to the "An Exception has Occured" errors that are out there? This error has rendered my online play practically useless as it crashes my game about 85 - 90% of the time. I could get along with some of the other bugs, but this is killing me.
Admiral Sith Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Will it include a fix for the MISSING Error, and some of the errors with creating a new account?
Slocket Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 I heard it was alot towards MP fixes..such as was patch 1.02. I really wish they release the scripting tools for LUA. We can add alot of content and new behavior, modders have the time to dink around with this stuff. XML changes are great, but much of it that really counts needs to go hand in hand with changes to the LUA script to work proper (and not have the AI confused). I am playign anothe game called Galactic Civilizations II. A spiritual successor to Master of Orion with a 3-D combat battle engine. Can we say 'Star Wars Total Conversion'?
Sithman1138 Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Hells yea! And yeah. mp changes would be good, but...I'd tke modding first. Just my 2 cents.
kaboom1701 Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Looking forward to the next patch. Game play fine for me But I would like some of the "locked" units in the game to be playable. KaBoom
Guest DarthMaulUK Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 i cant comment on release dates but but as soon as its all ready for release, we will be one of the first to have it on lucasfiles.com DMUK
Admiral Sith Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Do you ever get tired of shameless advertising?
Sithman1138 Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 LOL! I do hope m issues are fixed. Esepically with clan wars in progress. It's a hassle.
