Sabretooth
You cant save where you are, so if you die, you have to go all the way back to the last area you started in (I think). Nope, there is a save feature in Dungeon Siege, it's just that the game is so freakin' easy, many people don't think of saving and when they get crapped, they have to start all over again. And I can't believe I missed Deus Ex. It is not only one of the greatest RPGs ever, It's also one of the greatest PC games ever. Deus Ex: Invisible War isn't as good in gameplay, but has excellent graphics and replay value.
Lantzen
Fallout 1 and 2, 2 is better than the first one i think. Fallout 2 was the RPG that made me start like RPG.
Aash Li
I never found it lol. I looked and looked for one, couldnt find the save... and yes, the game is ridiculously easy.. partly why I got bored of it, even with the amount of mods I used. lol
igyman
Well how about these: Diablo Diablo 2 (and exp Lord of Destruction) Nox Deus Ex (not a straight RPG, but still a great game) Deus Ex Invisible War (same as above) Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines (same as above)
stoffe
Diablo 2 (and exp Lord of Destruction) Deus Ex (not a straight RPG, but still a great game) Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines (same as above) Out of curiosity, what makes Diablo(2) a "straight RPG", unlike Deus Ex and VtM:Bloodlines? (Personally I'd say that DeusEx and VtM:Bloodlines are a lot more RPG-ish than Diablo is in most respects...)
RedHawke
Out of curiosity, what makes Diablo(2) a "straight RPG", unlike Deus Ex and VtM:Bloodlines? Diablo II an RPG? Well I guess the fact you can choose a character and their powers this indicates it is an RPG... not! I consider Diablo II to be a real-time hack and slash game... (Personally I'd say that DeusEx and VtM:Bloodlines are a lot more RPG-ish than Diablo is in most respects...) Well, I'd say that a straight RPG is a game where you simply get quests, kill enemies and level up your hero, so that's why Diablo (2), Nox and similar games are straight RPGs, this doesn't mean they're better than Deus Ex, or Bloodlines, but these two games to me are more like mixtures of multiple genres, for example Deus Ex is a mixture of FPS, RPG and Adventure genres and it's great. VTM Bloodlines is a TPS, RPG and Adventure mixture and also great.
Sable Phoenix
Planescape:Torment is the best computer RPG ever. Yes, even better thank KOTOR. Story, characters, and especially setting, it all really has to be experienced. Trying to tell about it just doesn't do it justice. It may be tough to find, it's many years old now, but it's definitely worth it.
Rogue Nine
How is there no mention of Chrono Trigger in this thread? I should ban you all. Chrono Trigger > you.

Rogue Nine
Uh, Chrono Trigger isn't anime. It's an RPG for the SNES, created by Squaresoft in the early 90's. It's widely considered to be one of the best games of all time.
Sable Phoenix
Well, I stand (or sit, as the case may be) corrected. Shows what I know. Still, I was aware that SquareSoft made it, and it's surprising that SquareSoft made a non-anime game. They're a Japanese company and everything I've ever seen from them is anime. I've obviously never played it. But then, I don't like consoles either; don't own one and don't plan to.

Eh? Square Enix and its previous incarnation as Square Co. Ltd, never made anime. They're a game company. The games themselves may look anime-inspired, but even so, it's still incorrect to say that they make anime games, since most of the games they produce have no anime counterparts. Sable Phoenix
Ahhh, I see where the miscommunication is. I mean anime as an art style, not as a noun. I suppose describing it as manga might be more accurate in this case, but computer games are, usually, animated, hence I tend to think of Japanese games as "anime". Anyway! Sorry for the sidetrack. Rogue Nine
I dunno if you can find the cartridge in a used-game store, since they're pretty uncommon nowadays. eBay would probably be a better bet. Alternatively, if you have a PSX or a PS2, you can get Final Fantasy Chronicles, which includes FFIV and Chrono Trigger. I personally prefer the SNES version, but that's just me. Ztalker
You could try and get it Final Fantasy 7 using the 'alternative' way. (download) I've played it on Pc too, and it rocked. Of course the graphics...kind of suck, but the story is so intense... My list of recomendations: Fable: Short game, but it has an amazing style and world. You will be amazed.. ES 4: Oblivion: The interface has been improved a lot compared to Morrowind. You now know where you need to go Neverwinter nights: A more difficult version of Kotor realy. Kotor 1&2: Combined graphics and gameplay. One of the best SW games ever. About the prices: Oblivion comes in 2 version: -Collectors Edition: I bough this one, just because if got a discount. it features several interesting stuff for 5 Euro. You'll get a cool lore booklet that discribes the storys of the previous ES games, so it adds more background. You'll also get a poster of the world map(Hung it above my pc ^^ ). You'll also get an DvD with a very large making of. It;s very, very cool to see. Also, you'll get a bronze Imperial coin. It looks quit gimmicky, but it also comes with a muc, much cooler casing. =55 Euro -Normal Edition: Just the game, realy = 50 Euro Fable: In many gameshops, they lowered it's price. It's about 45 Euro's now, if i'm correct. Neverwinter Nights: I think they released a big pack recently (Diamond Edition). It features the original Game (60 hours of gameplay) plus the two expansion, wich are about 20-30 hours each. You'll need to invest much time if you want to reach the end (Isn't here yet, so i don't know the price) Kotor 1&2: Kotor 1 can be hard to get, since they don't make them anymore. Some sites could offer assistance though. It should be around 30 Euro's. Kotor 2, like Fable, has been lowered in price as well. It should be around 45 Euro's now. (Prices are in Euro's, so might turn out to be higher.)

RaV™
Diablo 2 online play owns..I find fighting the monsters on my own in singleplayer a little bit..lonely..
igyman
Lonely? Well, I guess it depends on the class you chose - I didn't think it was lonely with an army of Skeleton Warriors and Skeleton Mages at my side!
RaV™
True, but skeleton's become rather weak in the later parts of the game. The Revival summoning PWNZ, but some of the monsters won't listen -_-. I think Diablo is one of the better games of the era, feel free to disagree. That's just my honest opinion.
