Tyrion Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 /stupid. Well dang. I told my dad about this, inquiring about if I had any deafness problems when I was a child; he had pretty sensitive hearing, so I wanted him to see if it was just the computer or my own hearing. So I plugged my Sennheiser headphones into his computer: I went to test it it, to see if I could still not hear at 17000khz. I could. Infact, I checked them all and I could hear quite well up to 25000khz. About all I could say then, with a completely dumbfounded look, was "well, dang." Huh. I went from going deaf to above average hearing. That's quite a leap, I think. I also now want to set my M-Audio Fast Track box on fire and never look back for playing such a cruel trick on me.
ZBomber Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 I can hear 19,000. And I always blast my music and I've been to high volumed concerts too.
edlib Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Now, the thing that scares me is that so far I can only hear up to about 15,000khz That could be a lot of factors. A problem with the speakers or headphones you are using... or even the soundcard. Do you have any EQ enabled in your sound settings? Background noise can also be a masking factor... computer fans, air conditioners running in the next room... Retake the test in a more controlled environment sometime. EDIT: I couldn't hear above 15K on my headphones, but I could hear 18K on my speakers. I'm kinda surprised I can hear that high at all.
Dagobahn Eagle Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 15 000 was loud and clear. 20 000 herz I could barely hear. 21 000 herz was apparently just above my treshold. Nice to know:). (oh, and rhyme not intended:p)
Nerd_Annhilator Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 I could hear 21000 perfectly well, and I -think- I could -sort of- hear 25000
MrWally Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 ... but what about 22000-24000, you could hear those...right?
