Lantzen
Like the thread is named, are they illegal? Another thread brought it up, but was closed, so i coulden't ask there. It shouldent be if you have bought the game
90SK
Yes, of course it's illegal. Why do you think that thread got closed?
EnderWiggin
Yes, of course it's highly illegal. Why do you think the thread got closed? And why do you think they are called 'cracks'? They are done by [sARCASM]1337 h4x0rs[/sARCASM] so that way all of their friends can play the game off of one (or one set of) disks. _EW_ EDIT: And in the other thread, where this was brought up, it was even illegal by your definition. You said it wouldn't be illegal if they bought the game, but he was trying to get it so his friend could play off of his disks.... and his friend hadn't bought the game. Don't beat a dead horse. Det. Bart Lasiter
Cracks are, official no-CD "patches" aren't. For instance, some companies that have used SecuROM (which causes a lot of bugs in the games it's used with) often release fixed versions of the game's executable file which disable SecuROM. Although the use of these to play a game with no CD usually involves the use of a disk emulator.

This is why you received the warning, Zat. _EW_
PoiuyWired
Well, using Disc Emulators and such are not illegal, and actually even some CD "cracks" are not illegal. That having said, you are still required to own a copy of the CD, or whatever lisense it requires. So yeah if you can't SecuROM(a lousy annoying check) cause your CD is scretched, like my BF2 CD, its ok to emulate and bypass it. Its just a kind of "Backup" Cause I own the real CD and is not spreading around. BTW, its not that expensive to buy a game really, be nice and buy a good game. Its a good way to tell companies what to produce (and what not to)
Pavlos
STARWARSKOTOR2 and Zat: You should both consider yourself warned for posting stuff in direct violation of this Forum's rules against piracy. Further such posts will not be tolerated. I really don't think you should be persuing this, Zat. Unofficial No-CD cracks are a no, no. If the company were to release an official patch for it then it would be fine, as others have stated, but most developers do not. I really think you should let this drop.
