Tyrion
Goddamnit, I bought A Piper On the Gates of Dawn on Saturday, a day after his death. Couldn't even listen to it while he's alive... I didn't know he had such a big affect on David Bowie, though.

MrWally
Dude that's so sad... He was a great musician. I have Piper at the Gates of Dawn and it's a great album. And while he was pretty weird...and a little missed up (only member of pink floyd who could be called a druggie...) everyone has to admit he's a great singer and should always be remembered. ^^^ A moment of silence of Syd
Datheus
I seem to be the only fan who thinks post-Syd Floyd beats the crap out of the earlier incarnations. Meh.

Oh of course (in my opinion) "Pink Floyd" was infinately better than "The Pink Floyd" but "The Pink Floyd" was still really good and unique, specifically Syd. But Gilmour is a legend on guitar and in singing, and he would beat Syd any day.

Some of the songs that hung over from his era and were given a more "modern" Floyd feel are quite good. I guess I just have trouble with rock before 1968 (just kinda plucked that number from the air). It can seem terribly minimalistic sometimes.
