Char Ell
Uh-oh. Tour de France winner Floyd Landis has reportedly failed a doping test he submitted to during the course of the world's most prestigious bicycling race. Foxsports.com article I've heard reports on the radio this morning that Landis tested positive for high levels of testosterone. If true then he deserves the shame. This year's Tour de France was already marred by the doping scandal that occurred just before the race began with big name riders like Jan Ullrich and Ivan Basso being forced to withdraw from the tour. Darth333
Somehow I'm not surprised. I'd rather be surprised to learn that those guys aren't doped. The Tour de France is such an endurance event and there's always doping allegations surrounding it and this since its creation in the early 20th century. It was just a matter of time before we saw another Festina like scandal (1998 "Tour de la Honte" as they called it). I'm also among those who will never believe that Armstrong wasn't doped in the past years. It's more of a matter of who gets caught and who doesn't to me. Jae Onasi
Humor mode way on: Doping in sports? I'm stunned that this is happening. /sarcasm]
Commander Obi-Wan
Well, I wouldn't be suprised if any of hte riders don't turn up positive. Plus, the doping tests for the TdF are so strict compared to the ones in other major sports.
RedHawke
This doesn't surprise me either...
Mav
It's a sad thing that doping in sports has become a matter of who can get away with it and who can't...
Char Ell
Wow! The LF judge and jury have spoken and the verdict is... Landis was doping! Now for the executioner...
Ztalker
I started wondering after his 'pwnage mountain-ride' the day after his humiliating race. And guess what? His urine was doped at the 'pwnage' -race...
Mav
Well, after watching ESPN and finding out a bit more about the whole situation, it appears that the testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio was out of sync, with the epitestosterone being extremely low, not the testosterone being high. So, it's not like he took a shot of testosterone to pump himself up for the next day, however it doesn't mean he didn't do something. Even if he did dope himself up with testosterone the night before the big stage, it's not like it would kick in right away, it's not nitrous oxide in a car, it doesn't give him the big vroom vroom with a shot in the bum. With all that said, I'm not defending him, heck I don't even follow cycling, I didn't know Lance Armstrong until he won his 7th race. Anyway, something is obviously whacky with his tests, but I actually don't really care what happens to the guy, oh well.
MachineCult
Yeah, I thought it was funny when they said that he had failed the drug test because he had high levels of testosterone, maybe he had been in a fight just before the race or something...
