Playstation 3 Japanese price cut.

There are no plans to lower prices in the U.S. or other markets, Sony spokeswoman Nanako Kato said. In Japan, the game will hit stores on Nov. 11.

Don't expect a price drop here, unless Sony FINALLY realizes how ridiculously overpriced it is.

Enjoy your watered down PS3 that's $100 more than a good 360. And enjoy the possibly $70 or more games.

I don't get why people complain of this, if you're an avid online player for the 360 you're eventually gonna pay up the difference by paying for xbox live within 1-2 years time. Hell, you'll end up paying more in in the long run.

As for the $70 games, I can't complain seeing as how here in Canada that's normally what new games are priced at.

You're also forgetting that extra $100 is paying for the capability to play in HDMI, and for a new format - the blu-ray which is capable of playing BRD's and BRD games. Unlike the 360, you'll have to fork over 100+ (or whatever the cost maybe) to watch HD-DVD movies ONLY.

If sony's online is as good as xbox live, then ok. But since we won't know until later this year, we can't say s*** about sonys online. But I will say this, I love xbox live. Connect your xbox to your router or modem, and you're on (there are of course exceptions, but for me it was this easy). Then you just press a button to sign in, and then select quickmatch or optimatch, and you're in a game. And Voice chat rocks.

As for the Blu-Ray thing, I buy consoles to play games. I don't have an HDTV, and I don't plan on getting one within the next couple of years. Thus, I don't give 2 s***s about HDMI, HD-DVD, or Blu Ray. And yes, I know Blu Ray with the PS3 allows you to play games with 134636MILLION GBs, but from what I've heard, the load times suck ass. Another thing we won't be able to see for ourselves until the end of the year.

Thats just my two cents. And I do agree that they missed their aim here. If they had dropped the US price, it would have been better for them, because the Japanese would have bought it no matter what the price (which is why I don't see the PS3 failing everywhere). If they had dropped the price to $400 and $500 in the US, they would have given Xbox 360 a run for its money.

Also, why the hell is sony allocating 400,000 units for North America, while allocating only 100,000 in Japan :eyeraise:

Developers can cache data on the HDD to reduce load times. BOTH systems will come with a HDD. Unlike the Xbox 360 and the Wii. You will get a HDD with every ps3, which means that developers can optimize loadtimes for both systems. You wil not see a difference in loadtimes between the two because both systems will have cacheing, that is from what i've read.

Seriously, what kind of a question is that? It's nice knowing that all PS3 models are HDMI equipped.

What was wrong with my question?

I'm just curious if anyone that plans on buying a PS 3 and was initially going to buy the more expensive model is now considering going with the cheaper model because it will have an HDMI port.

If you were trying to be funny, I gotta say, you came off kind of like a jerk.
