Shadow_015
Since there is going to be a second expansion I think it would definitely be awesome if the developers could add in some more civilian activity. While the Zann Consortium was a good addition along with the super-huge capital ships, I think the middle-element was missing. Petroglyph already added some middle-of-the-range ships such as Acclamators, Assault Frigates, Nebulon-B Frigates, Tartan Patrol Cruisers, Victory Star Destroyers, Corellian Corvettes/Gunships etc, but if more were added then it would definitely spice up the gameplay. I remember playing X-Wing Alliance and having civilian space stations and vessels around added much more to the Star Wars feel - it made the game just that much better. If there was an option to add civilian activity for users of higher-end PCs (so lower PCs could still run the game but without the extras) then that would be awesome. Possible vessels include: Bulk Cruisers Assault Frigates Cargo Haulers (Like XW:A) Lancer-class Frigates Carrack-class Frigates Dreadnoughts! Strike Cruisers Hopefully the developers can look into it...
wedge2211
Since there is going to be a second expansion Where did you hear that? Bulk Cruisers Assault Frigates Cargo Haulers (Like XW:A) Lancer-class Frigates Carrack-class Frigates Dreadnoughts! Strike Cruisers Are you calling for civilian ships, or just calling for more units? Of the ships you listed, only cargo haulers are civilian. The rest are warships that would not be found in the hands of a civilian organization. mattwild
Perhaps a space fight in a civilian shipping lane, and any civilian ships that you hit cost you credits. Just a thought, would be quite cool to see TIE Interceptors and X-wings chasing each other through the traffic. Bulk freighters would be good, as well as cruise liners and cargo tugs near civilian stations.
Shadow_015
Actually Wedge, while those ships were warships indeed there were quite a number in the hands of civilians used as escorts against space pirates. Shipping companies had their own security detail. Of course i'm definitely asking for more units, and an increase in the units cap (option?) for those who can handle it on their computers. I think it would definitely liven up the gameplay if you had your battles but nearby you had other ships doing their own thing e.g running away, passing through the system, docking at civilian stations if you guys catch my drift. Rust_Lord
I think he is only assuming there will be another expansion given the ending of the campaign. It would be nice imagery to have all sorts of liners and freighters etc but they will only be used on some maps and considering they would be even crappier than the standard pirate frigate they wont be much good in action. darthcarth
I agree but i think he means is that they would be attackable and tehy wouldnt attack you unhless you attacked them and they would be all over the place to help with realism. Shadow_015
Yeah what darthcarth said. It would also be cool if at certain planets you also got side missions for those civilians e.g. Empire has to destroy them and Rebels have to save them and you can get a bonus, but that they don't actually fight for either side and only retaliate or run away when attacked. Shadow_015
ImpElite, if you look on IGN and Gamespot when they are reviewing the expansion they both mention that the ending hints at a very likely expansion. And if you've played the game you'd know that too seeing as from what everyone is saying about how it ended...
ImpElite
Ooooh, okay, no I don't have the expansion (yet) so that would explain it.
jedi jim 1989
it all hints to another expansion but there isnt any official word, so we just have to wait and see
Rust_Lord
Yeah what darthcarth said. Yeah I knew he meant they would be NPCs but they still wont be very good in action. Definately a use for them in objective driven scenarios. The Empire could even need to save civilians from pirates/consortium too, after all they are supposed to be the order in the galaxy. There's plenty of variations. It would be good just to have them in as human/alien shields but you would prolly have to have a large number of ships on screen to pull this off and then you have to start thinking about performance. No doubt there would follow some crazy mods with passenger liners with more firepower than ISDs
TearsOfIsha
Ooooh, okay, no I don't have the expansion (yet) so that would explain it. I would take what they are saying with a pinch of salt. No-one has actually said that an 2nd expansion is on the way, merely hinting that there's going to be a sequel is meaningless. Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries also 'hinted' at a sequel that never arrived on the PC. Quake 4 too.
PoiuyWired
Well, even if an expansion is not coming, it is a matter of time some other media took in and continue the story.
