  • In KOTOR the LS or DS ending was decided by one huge decision near the end of the game.
  • In KOTOR II the ending was decided by predominately your alignment and to a lesser extent, what you did during the game.

So my question is, which option do you want for KOTOR III?

I'd probably prefer the former because it makes for a better story, more dramatic (Anakin in SWIII) but the K2 option adds more replay value to the game.

As you say, the first makes the game more dramatic.

Second it allows more freedom, since even when you play DS you could select a LS choice that allows a LS ending, and vice versa.

Plus, it's more realistic- the ending should be a consequence of a decision I made but not a consequence of whether I play a good or bad guy.

But, alignment could play a role in supplementing the general ending. Like in K1, if Revan was more gray than light in the end, he could be on his own instead of returning to the Order.

So I'd say a mixture of both.

I think a series of decisions should allow for a variety of different endings...

Well put.

In HotU, there were more than two endings the PC could choose. I'd like to have something similar - it would add a lot to the replay value, and the decisions made throughout the game. It bothered me how in KotOR I you could go about enslaving a planet, wiping out families, etc, and have it make no impact at all upon the ending. I wouldn't want every little side quest to affect it, but I wouldn't want them to be as pointless.

QFE

I think the choices you make, your alignment, AND one major decision near the end of the game should all play a role in the way the end of the game unfolds. That way, multiple endings, multiple play throughs, lots of happy role players like me.

In K2, they did had both. The alignment ending and the one desicion ending.

The major desicion happened before the Final Levels...which is, Do you want to save the Jedi Masters or kill them all? A LSer can kill off all the Jedi, while a DSer can save the Jedi (only to figure out the secret, and have a temp. ally against the Sith). Both the Save Jedi ending and the Kill Jedi ending are really interesting and transfers you to the Final Levels...

The final ending deterimines what you do after the game ends. If you are a Dark Sider, you'll keep Malachor alive, and if you are a Light Sider, you'll blow it up. I see that also as a good thing, as it would reflect what the character would choose...which is good.

So, both.
