[RP]Obake Blade

Recommended Posts

Takara leaned forward slightly at the words 'Obake Blade'. It was something she had only ever heard described as legend. She supposed it wasn't a great surprise to find a group willing to search for a mythical or legendary item, especially with the peculiar events recently coming to light. Her right hand absently stroked at Akkan's head as he slept on her lap as she listened, but she said nothing as she considered what she might do if asked to join.

Kai nodded to Kyo at his words, he had already said he would aid in the search. He had no uses for blades himself, but anything involving legend and mystery was sure to come with a fair bit of fighting and bloodshed. He let a large grin crease his lips as he looked at the others, wondering who would join them. He had never traveled with many people, and the prospect of it was both a little frightening and very intersting.

"Kai hopes that you would all come, mancer's, rangers, healers, swordsmen, and attractive women should always be welcome on any journet."

Akira was taken by surprise of Kyo's question, making him nearly spill his beverage, but he simply swallowed it and then with a serious face, he started thinking. He seemed to have no reaseon for it. But what else then? He had nothing to do. He had many friends made there. And the reason of this trip for him was revenge. Revenge, yes...

"You are going through the North, right?" Akira asked Kyo, "If you are, you have my support."

He then lifted his necklace, kissed it and put it back in.

Kyo nodded in assent. Both of them were able fighters and Kyo knew that the task ahead wouldn't be a simple, peaceful journey. They weren't traveling in a caravan this time, and it would seem that there was someone out there - a group of bandits or otherwise - that are intent on stealing at least one of the Keys. It was also apparent that they knew who Kyo was, and was looking for him.

The more the merrier.

"Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Spirit..." he murmured to himself, looking now to the two 'mancers. "It would seem that I'm in need of a pyromancer and an aeromancer. Where were you two planning on heading after Ryuu Tokai? I'm not sure yet what direction we're headed in." he said, pulling out the puzzle, "I haven't figured it out yet."

Carwyn took a long swig from his flagon, then stared semi-blearily over at the two 'mancers. "Hey Hosh, hey Toa," he said, giving them a small wave. "I'd ask what you kids have been up to, but I saw them in the sky." He grinned and pointed upward, then took another pull. "Pretty dragon thingies, they were." He hiccuped.

Aya took another sip of ale, then smacked her lips. "Whish I was immune to alholcol," she said to Akira, grinning.

Her eyes then narrowed with interest as she looked across the table at Kyo's puzzle--the one with 'her' coin stuck in one end of it. "Ok, let's see this 'puzzle,' Kyo," she said, beckoning with a finger for him to let her see it. "Maybe between all of us we can figure it out. Or, at the least, have some fun guessing." She looked at Akira. "You did say earlier that you wanted to play a drinking game, right? How about, we each take a guess, and if we get it wrong, we take a drink?"

Kyo sighed. "As long as water counts, I'm in."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out the riddle, folding it over so that only the important part was visible.

"Though heav'n oft defeat me, The more there is, the less you see." he read, tapping the parchment. "Whatever the answer is to this has to have...eight letters, else it won't fit in correctly. However, that's as much help as we're getting - every one of these rings has the full alphabet written on them."

"Though heav'n oft defeat me, The more there is, the less you see," Aya repeated thoughtfully. The corner of her mouth twisted upwards as she thought. "Maybe... the horizon? The place where heaven and earth meet?" she guessed. She frowned, calculating something in her head. "No... horizon only has seven letters. 'A' horizon," she said with finality. "That's my guess. Try that, Kyo."

He nodded and looked down to the puzzle in his hands as he twirled the ringlets so that the letters A, H, O, R, I, Z, O, N matched up on the arrows. Kyo then moved to tug on the end of the cylinder...but nothing happened. The cap didn't budge.

"It would seem that you need to take a drink, Aya." he said with a smirk.

About halfway done with his third flagon of ale, Carwyn was well on his way to inebriation. Like dancing, drinking wasn't something the ranger did very well. Like dancing, drinking wasn't something he wasn't going to try just because he wasn't good at it. Unfortunately, like dancing, the fact that he was no good at it was immediately obvious to everyone around him.

"'Hokay, sho," Carwyn began. "Th' more ye see, the less there isss." He took another swig, accidentally spilling a little ale onto his tunic. "Uhmmmm, I would have to guess...uh..." He scrunched his face up in concentration, blowing a stray wisp of his hair out of his face. "I knowz!" he declared after a moment. "It's a ice-BUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRP." The forcefulness of the burp took him by surprise and he was unable to control it as it escaped his mouth loudly. He covered his mouth quickly and looked around sheepishly.

Kyo sighed, shaking his head at Carwyn. "Iceberg only has seven letters." the swordsman murmured, but he tried it anyway, substituting an A in the front. A ICEBERG. The case didn't click and the cap still didn't move.

"I'd tell you to take a drink..." he muttered, but it seems that you don't need one..."

Carwyn giggled inanely. "Rules is rulez," he slurred, raising his flagon in salute. He took another long swig from it, then slammed it back down on the table. "Hooooooo-weeeee!" he exclaimed as he put his chin on the table. "I think I'mma need ta slow dowrn. M'head's a swimming."

Aya's eyes widened with surprise and she quickly looked down at her hands which were both on the table. "Pulling it? I'm not even touching your leg yet!" she said adamantly. She took a sip, or rather a gulp, of her ale, then paused. "That didn't come out right, did it?" she asked the others. She shook her head. "Oh, bother," she muttered quietly, and consoled herself with another few swallows of ale.

Toa laughed at the antics that took place. He was a bit disappointed that he wasn't able to finish his fight with Hosh, but that was paid for with the dance that dragged them out of it. Toa was about at good at dancing as Carwyn was, simply because the western dance was different. It normally involved dancing to avoid lava or fire balls and therefore was very hectic, which was not what the dance out here was like.

The only thing that felt... strange about all this was the chill going slowly down his spine, taking its time to slowly make Toa more and more uneasy. That was give nbit of relief though at Aya's tongue twist.

"Unless you have spent all this time trying to flirt with him ever since I said it, I would say that it did. And you're not even freaking out like the last time." Toa replied merrily to Aya's question.

"Elements?" Toa asked out of pure guessing for Kyo's little riddle. The mention of the Obake Blade brought up the memory of the dream, causing the chill to escalate to the point where he visibly let out a shiver.

The demented scythe was now almost complete at its task, being the heart of a giant dragon of bone that had yet to be awakened.

Kyo turned the letters again. D-A-R-K-N-E-S-S. He felt a soft vibration from inside the case, and frowned faintly, though his eyes sparked. He reached for the cap and tugged at it gently. It gave way, giving leave to an opening in the side of the cylinder.

"Hey, Akira..." he said, a smile creeping to his lips, "Remind me to buy you another ale, sometime."

Dropping the cap, he reached in and pulled out a small sheet of worn parchment, which was folded into quarters. Pulling it out, he unfolded it with nimble fingers and looked at the words that were written there in an elegant scrawl.

"Return to where it all began..." he read, "Go'North." he looked up at the others. "Looks like we're going North after all."

"We're goin' where?" Carwyn asked, lifting his head from the table. At the open puzzle in Kyo's hands, he made a move for another flagon of ale. "Well, since th' drinkin' game is over, we'll need ta get these finished up anywayz." He grabbed for a flagon, but his arm fell at bit short and thudded into the table, his fingers still making grabbing motions. "Awww..."

Tellis gave him an amused smirk, then pushed the flagon into his hand. "Be careful what you wish for, Carwyn."

Carwyn grinned stupidly at her. "Thanks sho much, Tel," he said, clutching at his new mug of ale.
