Chicago Cub fans, I feel your pain of 99 years of frustration. Well, just a little I suppose. But I can't be too sympathetic when your playing my D-Backs who have endured 6 years of frustration! :xp:
I am so depressed!!!

Hope they get it together this weekend or our October run is going to be very short.

And the networks are mourning already at the ad revenue drop. :D

Absolutely. I love seeing new blood mix it up. Baseball, true baseball isn't hinged on ad campaigns.

That's why I love this game. Besides the umps, it can't be depicted by anyone other than the players on the field.

Let them lose their billions, the quality of TV ads IMO has dropped dramatically in the last decade anyway.

Indians/Rockies would be the most boring World Series ever.

And yeah, you can say 'it's all about baseball' and to a certain extent, you might be right. But baseball is also a financial enterprise, and like all others, it seeks to bring in the most revenue it can. Indians/Rockies would not only be incredibly boring, it would also generate meager profits and shoddy TV ratings, primarily since the markets for those two teams aren't all that great. Look at the past two WS. White Sox/Astros in 2005 got only an 11.1 Nielsen rating, while Tigers/Cardinals in 2006 got even less at 10.1. Out of the nearly 115 million TV sets watching in the country, only about 10% of them were tuned into the WS. I'd wager if Indians/Rockies were to happen, the ratings would be comparable, if not lower, especially given the new fall lineups of all the major networks.

In short, baseball is pretty much over this season. :xp:

Maybe from your point of view, but I'll bet a dollar to a donut the people in Cleveland and Denver differ with you.

Many of the truths we cling to depends greatly on our point of view.

Obviously, in your point of view, which is depicted by what others watch, you'd be bored watching two of the best teams in baseball go at it.

I cannot concur.

I could give a rats ass what the rest of America or the world deems worthy of watching. I don't trust the networks rating system anyway.

I don't watch programs because of their supposed ratings. I watch things according to MY interest level.

How bad do you think the ratings will be next year when the lowly Brewers are in the mix? :)

...and do you really think I'll care?

You're right. I won't.

I know that this is going to get me flamed. Know what? I don't care. Flame me all you want, but you know I am right. So here goes:

These "Nielson ratings" you keep mentioning are all fine and dandy, but you are forgetting something very important: What were the Nielson Ratings for the 2004 World Series?? You seem eager to insult baseball by mentioning the 2005 and 2006 World Series. I know. Chicago White Sox Vs. Houston Astros?? Detroit Tigers Vs. St. Louis Cardinals?? BORING! and MORE BORING! But Red Sox Vs. St. Louis Cardinals?? Hecks yeah!!! I bet 90% of Red Sox Nation was tuned into AT LEAST one of the four games, and 90% of Red Sox Nation (and Yankee fans) were watching AT LEAST one of the seven games of that 2004 ALCS. So, yeah, baseball's World Series ratings have dropped because relatively bad teams made it in, but in the bigger scheme of things, as long as the World Series of Major League Baseball is on, SOMEONE is going to watch it, even if the Nielson Ratings (which is a poor indicator of popularity) are low.

Spoken like a true New Yorker. You are just sour because your local team (which, deny it all you want, you DO like to see well. Anyone, even non-baseball fans, will admit that seeing their home team do well is nice.) got knocked out in the first round. The Indians, a

boring
team as you put it, knocked out your local team and its $296 Million plus payroll. How sad for you.

Now, let the worthless flaming begin.

(Congratulations, if you are reading this, you either read my ENTIRE post, or skipped down. IF you did the latter, then I will restate my opening statement - I know I'm gonna get flamed for this post. IF you chose the former, then hats off to you, Whoop-de-do, and all that.)

Well, I hope people don't start flaming, since that's against the rules here. ;) --Jae

Fine. Please don't flame me...thanks.

(I apologize for encouraging others to break the rules -- Calo)

Hell, it won't be the great World Series, but...

Who says it won't? Regardless of which team they play, the Rocks will make it a great WS.

...and those whom are watching Dancing w/the Stars because they heard it was getting better ratings will miss some really good post-season baseball action. History will be made right before our eyes.

Holliday for MVP, could he get any better?

Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox!

More bad news for the New York Yankees as they watch their biggest rival not only win another title, but A-Rod opted out of his contract and the Yankees have stated they will not negotiate with him if he did. A-Rod's playing somewhere else next season unless the Yankees decide to contradict what they've stated.
