lukeiamyourdad
Yep, the season is over. We know who's going to the playoffs. Eastern: Buffalo New Jersey Atlanta Ottawa Pittsburgh NY Rangers Tampa Bay NY Islanders Western: Detroit Anaheim Vancouver Nashville San Jose Dallas Minnesota Calgary Any thoughts? Predictions? First, shame on both Carolina and Edmonton. The both of them should be ashamed of their counter-performance during this season. Big shame. Second, Pittsburgh has done really well. If they can keep their big guns healthy, they certainly can go far, especially since no one believed that they could get to the playoffs this year. Finally, in your face Toronto! If Montréal doesn't get to go, you don't too! Bwahaha! Feel the pain Toronto! Feel it! I hope it hurts! I hope you scream about it at night! Praise the New York Islanders! Oh and go Buffalo. REDJOHNNYMIKE
Hockey? I can get in a fight anywhere uptown. Why do I need hockey? If they gave them points for jabs and haymakers I might be more inclined to view the events.
Commander Obi-Wan
Damn, I was just goin' to make this thread. Yes, shame to the Hurricanes for not making it. Same for the Oilers. Pesky injuries and trades didn't help. Plus, we lost Pronger and Spacek. Ah well... Too bad Colorado couldn't beat the Nashville Predators last night. We were doing them a favour for defeating the Flames. I have mixed reactions about the Islanders making it. I want them to make it, but I also wanted to see the Maple Leafs face the Sabres and get the **** kicked out of them. Though, I'm happy the Islanders made it. Smyth is on the team... and I guess Beregron. Now for the picks... In the East: Buffalo, New Jersey, Atlanta, and Pittsburgh. Then, Buffalo and New Jersey. Finally Buffalo. In the West: Detroit, Anaheim, Vancouver, and San Jose. Followed by San Jose, and Anaheim. Lastly, San Jose in the finals. Buffalo for the Stanley Cup. My wild card would be Atlanta versus Vancouver. To help with the pattern. (Kudos to those who get that)
Mace MacLeod
1) To Habs and Leafs fans: BWA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! 2) Vancouver vs Dallas. Okay, I think my boys have managed to sew up the best possible opening series opponent. Don't get me wrong, I'm not doing anything silly like planning the Stanley Cup Parade Route here, but if Luongo can get hot, the Sedins can stay dominant, Cooke and Linden can shut down Modano, aliens return the real Markus Naslund, and the PK still clicks, I can see Dallas enjoying a nice, early round of golf. Do the Canuckleheads have the depth and toughness to grind it out all the way? Erm...less sure about that one. Would love to see them do it, but against the *shudder* Ducks or Red Wings... 3) In the east, I'm really liking Pittsburgh as a dark horse. Sid the kid, Staal, Malkin; if they get steady goaltending, they could be a real threat to go deep. 4) I think both Nashville and Buffalo are overrated. I predict neither will get to the final four. 5) After Ottawa does its traditional playoff swandive, look for mass suicides in the CBC Sports Division upon the realization that they'll have to pay attention to teams west of Manitoba. lukeiamyourdad
And so it has started... Yep, the Senators thrashed the Penguins 6-3. So much for the Senators being crushed in the first round. I'd still like to see them crash and burn...it's so funny. 10 years in a row in the playoffs, only once through the second round. Prime
The buzz is crazy here in Ottawa right now. Go Sens! As for the Oil, I cry myself to sleep every night...

Commander Obi-Wan
Anybody catch a glimpse of that Vancouver v. Dallas game? Quadruple overtime. Equivalent to playing two games in one night. Though, I was sound asleep when the game ended like at 2:30 AM here. EDIT: I know something was wrong in the post. I also know it was 4 OTs. Thanks for correcting me, coupes. coupes.
It was actually quadruple OT, one of the longest game in NHL history. I hope the Sens crash and burn like they do every year, shouldn't be too long with their nut job between the pipes.
MTV2
well, this is the worst possible situation for me to be in. I live in Vancouver, so i root for the Canucks, but I have money on the Stars to win the Cup.

He is just a regular season goalie.

It was actually quadruple OT, one of the longest game in NHL history.Sixth-longest in NHL history, longest game in Canucks history. Luongo broke a record for most shots faced by a goalie and came within two saves of setting a new NHL record for most saves in one game. Yep, the Senators thrashed the Penguins 6-3. So much for the Senators being crushed in the first round. I'd still like to see them crash and burn...it's so funny. 10 years in a row in the playoffs, only once through the second round. It's only game 1. The younglings on the Pens' bench are just waking up to the enormity of playoff hockey. And even if they don't go anywhere this year, Sid the kid and co. have decades ahead of them to figure out the playoffs. I still think the Sens won't make it out of round 2 even if they get past round 1. Anybody catch a glimpse of that Vancouver v. Dallas game?Saw the last...what, 5 periods? The bar was standing room only at the beginning of the third when I got there, and I was one of about 10 soldiers left at the end. It was worth it, though. We rule. At least today. In about 2 hours from now, will be heading back to the same bar for game 2. GO CANUCKS GO!!

Commander Obi-Wan
The Canucks lost! and so did the Sharks. To be honest, I cheering for the Canucks, and even though, I am an Oilers fan, I'd rather have the Canucks win, and the Flames lose. And I despise the Dallas Stars. Mace MacLeod
Man, I hope we get Cooke and Burrows back in the lineup and soon. Like bloody yesterday. They were really missing that edge they bring to the team; Pyatt was trying to forecheck, but the Dallas passing game had the Canucks running in circles in game 2. There was even one time I saw Mitchell (I think) going for a puck in the Dallas zone, Turco was out behind the net fiddling with the puck, and Mitchell just slammed into the boards beside him and let Turco out-stickhandle him. Man, if that'd been Cooke, Turco would've become one with the advertising on the end boards. The Canucks are badly missing their nasty streak, and it hurts. Commander Obi-Wan
Bah. Flippin' Thrashers can't do jack all in the playoffs. Mind you it is there first year. But, theire division was relatively weak. The Lightning should have been in first. I just hope San Jose and Vancouver can finish off their series respectably. As for Ottawa, I think they'll beat Pittsburgh.
lukeiamyourdad
They did beat Pittsburgh. Oh well, always next year for the young Penguins and the Senators will crash and burn as usual, if not now, then in the next round. Sad really, I would have liked to see two Canadian teams in the finals to max the chances of the Cup coming back to a country which cares about it. Then we would sing: It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming! Stanley's coming home!
Mace MacLeod
Yikes...not a good week for Thrashers fans (assuming there's such a thing). Out in four games and absolutely molested 7-0 in game 3. Meh. Basically a series where I cheered for the team I hated least. Someone please kill the Rangers in round 2. Well, so much for my dark horse Pens. Team of the future with players of the future, though. The search for a goalie and competent defence begins. Look out in the playoffs from '08 onward. Later Nashville. Hahahahaha! At least one of my picks proved right so far. Back to Dallas. *sigh* Oh well, at least I won't be working so I can watch the game. But honestly, I really didn't think the Canucks would get rid of the Stars in only five games. They do however need to get the job done tonight; got a really bad feeling if they screw up and come back to Vancouver with a series tied 3-3 and Dallas having won two straight. Offence? Hell-ooo...? Where aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaare you..? Screw secondary scoring. They need to get primary scoring. With Bobby Lou in net, at least the back end is secure, but he can't win games all on his own. Dammit, someone has to put the biscuit in the basket.
MTV2
hopefully Dallas can win in Game 7. they seemed to have soo many chances in Game 6, but they didn't take 'em. like they'd have a clear shot in front, but they'd just pass it to someone else and just keep passing. Mace MacLeod
##@$!!!! Canucks...? WTF? 2 games. 0 goals. Sedins=0 shots in game 6. A sad and sorry spectacle to be sure. Luongo can't win by himself...this is a recording... Damn, I don't get to watch game 7, but if it winds up anything like games 5 and 6, I'm glad I'm working through it. Look up "Piss Poor" in the dictionary, and you'll find a recap of the Canucks' performance in games 5 and 6. Vignault...leave your f!cking lines alone for more than one or two shifts, willya? Little thing called chemistry. Try finding it instead of announcing to the Stars that you're so desperate you'll just throw any junk you can think of on the ice in hopes that something will happen. And bench the Sedins when they can't even produce a single shot on net through two periods, you knob. God, Morrison looked like he was on smack or something out there, and there he is on the ice in the third. I said this somewhere before, but OFFENCE?! HELL-O...?!! Oh well, I guess it could be worse. I could be an Oilers fan...
