Trex
Im interested to see what role John Simm will play. He was ace in Mars. Agreed. I believe he's officially playing the enigmatic Harold Saxon as mentioned with so far in the series with clues : - In the christmas bride episode. Before opening fire on the Empresses ship the soldiers say they have permission/orders from him to do so. - On the front of a newspaper read by Peter Kay last series. - On posters displayed around at the theater at end of the Torchwood series. - and of course, the end of the last weekends episode. The big question is, who is he really and what is his agenda? There's lots of guesses, but I'll avoid too many spoilers.

The Doctor
Yes Steven, I read the Wiki article too. I didn't think I would be, but I'm actually getting excited to see him back. I still wish they had gotten Patrick Stewart to play him, but... meh.
xmovingpicturesx
I don't know... this whole Master thing, that can't really be the big surprise for this season right? That's what the Face of Boe referred to? Kind of a disappointment, although I love the Master, great character. I've never actually gotten a chance to see Simm in action, so I'm not hoping for too much. I just can't help but think they'll screw this up for some reason. Aash Li
Maybe they will completely surprise fans and not bring in the Master... thats what everyone is expecting I think. And if I was the one running the show, Id do the opposite of what people expected.
Trex
His name gives it away. Check my previous post. Why six? I revised my Dr. who history on wiki and he'd be either the seventh actor to play him, or the thirteenth character incarnation. If people are going to go with anagrams, I find the first name of Harold to be more suspicious. If he wanted an over typical human name, why not John or James. Maybe it's because Harold comes in very handy if you want something involving the word Lord, as in 'time lord' (with the H and A left over). You can get time easily from mister as well if you go for the whole 'Mister Harold Saxon', although in all honesty I only have gobbledygook left over. Maybe someones better at this than I am. steven
Harold is the first name of some Saxon(from History) general dude. I think it's got something to do with that.
The Doctor
Trex, are you including the Shalka Master (from Scream of the Shalka)? Because he's not canon. And to be honest, I personally wouldn't include the TV Movie in canon. Paul McGann's Doctor is only in my canon because of Big Finish.

And to be honest, I personally wouldn't include the TV Movie in canon. Paul McGann's Doctor is only in my canon because of Big Finish. I bought the Doctor Movie a while ago and it isn't that bad. My only problems with it is when both the Doctor and the Master say that the Doctor is half-human. Also if John Simm is the Master, then I doubt he will be in the role long, since he is one of those type of people who don't like to be known for just one role. It was one of the reasons why the great Life on Mars ended early.

My only problems with it is when both the Doctor and the Master say that the Doctor is half-human. Yeah, that kind of sucked. I thought the movie was too americanised. For me its the kind of movie I can't bring myself to watch for a second time, and I did try. I thought the Lazarus Experiment was ok, although I preferred Gridlock out of the stand alone episodes I've seen so far in this series. I like Brannigan, he cracked me up for some reason It's a good thing I'm too busy to be forced to watch Eurovision this weekend. I don't know why they just don't put it on BBC3 or something? Apart from Confidential, we aren't missing alot.
HerbieZ
I love the way spoilers have gone out the window :/ I think there will definately be more to this though i mean if the guy is on earth plotting to be prime minister, i doubt it's due to the fact that he really wants global domination when galactic is far more up his alley. Il watch eurovision though, only for Wogans commentary on everything.

And to be honest, I personally wouldn't include the TV Movie in canon. Paul McGann's Doctor is only in my canon because of Big Finish. I wasn't, but I think a lot of what's canon can be debated unless it's categorically stated by Russell T. Davis & co. I was only going on wikipedia who list the actors as: Roger Delgado Peter Pratt Geoffrey Beevers Anthony Ainley Gordon Tipple Eric Roberts (Derek Jacobi, who was the master in SOTS (and also incidentally is in the very next Dr. Who episode) isn't officially listed, only as a footnote.) ...and stating his last incarnation as the thirteenth, then finding a way to shift to other people's bodies. Oh, and I believe the old history Harold Saxon is from 1066 battle of Hastings. Guy who an arrow in his eye/trampled by a horse. I don't why they just don't put it on BBC3 or something?[/Quote] Definitely agreed. If they can't do that, what about friday night instead? King Dando
Whatever happened to the times when everyone kept their mouth shut, and people were geniunely surprised when they saw something, because they hadn't heard, or seen, or read about it previously? What I mean is, if they do bring back the Master, its hardly going to be surprising, for me anyway
xmovingpicturesx
It'd be surprising for me, only because through all of this speculation, statements in interviews, and... anagrams, I just don't see it happening. They hyped this Face of Boe message for quite some time, if he is referring to the Master it'll all be lost. So upon further consideration I now think that... John Simm/Mister Saxon is the Master. BUT... let's no forget about the Professor?
King Dando
I remember hearing something about the Prof turning out to be a Time Lord when we see him regenerate?
kotor_freak
Well i've been away for a while, and i just caught up with the Doctor and Martha on BBC Three Now the Daleks was alright, not as exciting i would thought it would be, i never jumped behind the couch when they shouted "Exterminate" The last episode, gah whats it called can't remember, was more like a thriller, although i enjoyed it, especially when the professor mutated, sort of. I've also been thinking about what the Face of Boe said, and i've got a really big hunch about what he meant when the Doctor wasn't alone. Except i don't want to reveal it unless people want mer to Another thing is.... I HATE YOU EUROVISON! Gah!!!!!!!! .............. grrrrrrrrrrr I mean come on? You really gonna think we'll win with a rejected 90s pop band named "SCOOCH"?! Gah! ( No offence to SCOOCH fans or the actual group ) Anyway.... Trex
According to the BBC : "To fit Doctor Who into the schedule, it would require an earlier than usual start. Past evidence shows that the earlier the start time of the programme the lower the ratings, and it is thought the BBC wish to keep Doctor Who at 7pm in future to maximise the number watching." Apparently the last trailer was also a preview for the entire remainder of the rest of the series. If anyone wants to see it again...
King Dando
Saturday nights on BBC1 sort of revolve around Doctor Who in a way... I was annoyed that for the last few weeks they put it on earlier just so that Any Dream Will Do can be shown at the same time as ITV's Grease Is The Word. I wish other channels would just come up with their own ideas.
Diego Varen
Any Dream Will Do and Grease Is The Word is pointless TV, in my opinion. Why can't the BBC take off Any Dream Will Do and keep Doctor Who on? Or I suppose it is the ratings, but go BBC, the best channel in the UK.

Astrotoy7
nope nope nope..... John Pertwee owns all your souls. And you call yourself DW fans If you didnt start watching DW in glorius Black & White then you may be missing the point..... The 'effects' were crap....but no one cared ...because the storyline and actors were so cool !! RIP Dr3 mtfbwya
Diego Varen
You mean season right? You must be American since here in England and the UK, we call it series. Also, I've only seen Jon Pertwee once and that is in The Three Doctors, which I own on DVD.

Actually, my introduction to Doctor Who was with "Spearhead from Space", the first Pertwee serial. I saw it when I was about 9 I think, scary as hell! You mean season right? Like Topsite said, here in the UK, a season is referred to as "a series", and generally, if we are referring to the show as a whole, we normally call it "the series", because we're insane. Also a "season" in the UK usually only lasts for perhaps 8 episodes, although it be sometimes as low as 6.
