stingerhs
since i'll be heading out to a theme park later today to ride some roller coasters, i'm feeling kinda inspired. anyways, the questions are: how much do you like roller coasters, do you prefer wood or steel, and can you name your top five favorite roller coasters??? to get us started, i would like to say that my name is stingerhs, and i am a coaster addict. i prefer wooden coasters over steel because they have that really out of control feel to them, but i still love my steel coasters. my top 5 coasters: The Kraken - Sea World, Orlando, Florida Kumba - Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay, Florida Georgia Cyclone - Six Flags Over Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia The Incredible Hulk - Islands of Adventure, Orlando, Florida Thunder Road - Carowinds, Charlotte, North Carolina well, now its your turn. Jeff
I've only ever been to Kings Island in Ohio, but we go every year. I'm a wooden coaster fan and my favorite one there is The Beast. Naming top 5 is like naming them all from there but I also like the Racer, the Vortex, and the Flight of Fear. Most of the other rides I go on there aren't coasters. The Son of Beast is also there, which is the only wooden roller coaster in the world with a loop, but I don't particularly care for it. I don't mind the loop at all, but the ride in general is just too rough.
Jae Onasi
I hate the long drops, but the coasters with twists, turns, and some speed are fun. My favorites: 1. Willard's Whizzer--Six Flags Great America (near Chicago) 2. Fire in the Hole--Silver Dollar City near Branson, MO. It's not terribly exciting, but it is fun. 3. Space Mountain--DisneyWorld--just because it's spacey-sci-fi-cool.
Ztalker
I've been searching the thrill of a good coaster for some time now...welcome to the club My favourites: 1. Rocking Rollercoaster - Disney Land Paris (Movie studio) Sick launch. You are just..rocketed away, into this dark emptyness, with Aerosmith rock songs playing from your seat. Several blinding green lights pop up, giving it a spooky feeling. 2. Space Mountain - Disney Land Paris Just rocks. The whole theme, the launch towards the moon... 3. MP Xpress - Movie Park Germany (former Warner Bros Park) Just...super. You actually hang in there, your feeet touch no ground, the rail's above your head. Then you're lifted up to a...peek hight. At which point you can see what's coming up: corckscrews at 30 meter hights, loopings, and some very nast turns. Brilliant. 4. Golitah - Walibi World (former Six Flags Holland) Ehm..hard to explain. 20 of these in a row, with exellerating speed: 5. The Tornado - Hellendoorn (Holland) For it's simplicity: You are lifted to a hight, after which you go through everal absurd corners, a corckscrew, and a looping. That's all. Short, cool, and intense Sorry..kind of a coaster-addict
REDJOHNNYMIKE
I love coaster, but honestly, I've never really rode that many. I live in a family of people who either have heart conditions or get sick easily, so I didn't go to many parks growing up, and couldn't stand the lines for more than one or two rides when I was around some. None of them ever really satisfied me though, I still have not found a woody that is hardcore enough. I get them mixed up, but I'm pretty sure I rode beast and it's offspring when I went to kings island (most of the coasters were either packed or down for repairs), they were almost...adequate, the cars sucked though, I didn't have enough room to stretch my legs out, the floor was to skinny for my feet, and at the time I was a little heavier so the safety stuff was both too short and to tight, okay coasters, but uncomfortable in the wrong way. My favorite woody was one I can't even remember the name of, but it was at busch gardens in florida, wasn't really big or spectacular, but it had the roughest ride I'd been on, and it was quite pleasant. @Stinger, I've been on the Kraken, I liked it, but I'm not sure how it made top on your list??? The day my family went there on vacation (we always go during the off season) there weren't many people there so my little sister and I rode it about 20 times in a row, and kept coming back as we realized that there wasn't much to do in the rest of sea world. The only thing it really had going for it was that it was so smooth you could practically sleep on it, while not the ride intensity I prefer, it worked for it. I don't mind the loop at all, but the ride in general is just too rough. Are you absolutely sure your a football player? A coaster isn't a coaster without a concussion. stingerhs
I've only ever been to Kings Island in Ohio, but we go every year.see, that's just one reason why i need to make a vacation trip to Ohio. you have Kings Island and Cedar Point, and i really want to visit both of them. i have a Season Pass to Carowinds, but since the guys that own Cedar Point also own Kings Island and Carowinds, i'm very tempted to upgrade for about an extra $10 so i can go to all the parks. Cedar Point is the big one, though, since it has a lot of world class coasters. Carowinds doesn't have much, but its close by. Kings Island, of course, has the Beast, and that's one coaster i've really been wanting to ride ever since i heard of it. @Stinger, I've been on the Kraken, I liked it, but I'm not sure how it made top on your list???what can i say?? its a great coaster that's just simply a lot of fun. the first section is all about the speed from the tall lift hill, and then the rest (after the brake section) is just some fantastic twists, turns, and inversions. the smoothness and the speed is what puts that coaster on top for me. yeah, there are other coasters with similar qualities, but this one just always seems to come out on top for me.My favorite woody was one I can't even remember the name of, but it was at busch gardens in florida, wasn't really big or spectacular, but it had the roughest ride I'd been on, and it was quite pleasant.your thinking of Gwazi. good coaster, and the dueling element was done quite nicely. its not my favorite, but its still a fun coaster. Commander Obi-Wan
I used to be scared ****less when it came to going on roller coasters, but I got over my fear of them this past summer. So, it's all good. The roller coaster worth mentioning is the "Mindblender" at Galaxyland in West Edmonton Mall. It's enjoyable, but it could be better. Though, it is an indoor roller coaster. This is the best picture I could get of it.
MacTavish
Roller coasters are amazing! I have only been to Busch Gardens, Six Flags in Maryland, Islands of Adventure in Orlando, and Hershey Park. Superman - Six Flags 5. Hulk - IoA Orlando
