Dont worry Ed, there are PLENTY of pet loving people out there to take up the slack.

I for one plan on going down to the local pet shelter next monday and coming home with a kitty

Good luck with it. I hope you come across a better one than this last one I had to deal with.

I mean: I've had a lot of cats in my life. A LOT. Probably well over a hundred.

There was one point before I started college that my mom was taking care of over 20 cats at once. And that wasn't the only time in my life I've been around felines in those numbers. When I moved in this house I had 3. Now we are feeding about a half dozen strays outside too.

But this was really the very first cat I have ever had THIS much trouble with. She was a real piece of work.

But all that said, I never had any desire to see her come to any harm or ill end.

All I wanted when I entered into this thing was a cat who would behave pretty much every other one I've ever encountered: use the litter... let me pet it once in a while...

And you all know I wouldn't mind a woman in my life now... but as Keyan has implied: That can very well be it's own set of complications, headaches,.. and heartaches.

I'm sure I'll keep trying for it though... simply because I am biologically driven to do so, if for no other reason.

But, at least for the time being, I am done with pets.

Someday, I'm sure I'll break down and give it another shot... but I truly need to recover from this first.

OK... why does it seem that the universe is out to drive me into a bad mood this week? Bad things don't ever seem to happen to me singularly...

I was just about to go out the door for work, leaving really early, just to get out of the house and not think about the cat and everything.

As I go to wash my glasses off in the kitchen sink, it falls apart in my hands. The short of it is: I now have no hot water in the kitchen. I had to shut it off. Took me about three-quarters of an hour to get to that point and clean up afterwards, however. Now I'll be no earlier than usual.

And my tomorrow morning is shot: Gotta get up early to wait for a plumber. I was going to sleep in and then go get a haircut before work tomorrow. I KNOW one of those is out... and most likely the other is too, now.

Oh goody.

*SIGH*

Not gonna give in to a bad mood, though. At least not yet... We'll see what else life has in store for me first. :dozey:

I'm bored and i have off today...going to put Oblivion in, haven't touched that game in a few months, only because I know how addicted I get once i start...

I gotta fix my room because moved all my stuff out of storage. I now have my weight bench back, so later today I intend to set that up.

If you could make it a hawt lady plumber who strips for me after the kitchen faucet is replaced, and could give me a haircut at the same time, then ALL my problems would be covered.

:joy:

Drove and walked around the neighborhood before heading off to the subway station this morning... looking for the cat, or at least traces of remains.

Not knowing if the cat is dead or alive just feels so unresolved. I'm assuming dead, right now.

All morning I kept looking for her at the outside doors out of habit. I wonder how long that will last?

Crazy orchestra rehearsal tonight. World premier of a new piece... everyone on edge. Plus it's all amplified... something this composer has never done before, so he's extra stressed. He seemed to like the mix I got, though, so that calmed him down in at least that regard.

Show tomorrow night. Wish I could sleep in... but, no. :(

Damn! I'm tired!

Less than 6 hours sleep last night... on top of a week of already not-so-great rest.

Left early from work last night... but the almost 2-hour commute home from Boston undid any advantages I might have got because of it. I was on the train with all the Bruins fans from the game too... most of them drunk. Made a long ride all that much longer.

At least I had a seat... originally. As we sat on the platform waiting to move people began filling in all the empty seats around me. First there was a cute young girl on one side of me... but she was drunk and having the most annoying and vapid conversation with her also ****-faced boyfriend who was standing up in front of me. She kept grabbing his... package.

I think I could have tuned it out and dealt with it... but on the other side sat down a HUGE guy (at least 6' 5", 300+ lbs...) with the most amazing B.O. (made my eyes water, it was so potent!) who kinda crushed me between him and stupid, horny drunk chick. (And, probably needless to say: he was mumbling to himself and had a full catalog of OCD type twitches the entire time...)

And hopefully also needless to say, this combination forced me up out of my seat, where I had to stand for the next 20 minutes/ half hour, waiting for the train to move as it got ever more packed with intoxicated sports fans being incredibly loud and obnoxious around me.

You can all probably guess that I was not in the greatest of moods by the time I actually made it home. The universal powers-that-be finally got their way, and pushed me over the edge into a dark, loathing of life emotional state I had been working so diligently to try to avoid getting to.

Oh... and when I did get home? Mom revealed that she had taken a really bad sneezing fit while laying down in the living-room, and lost a bit of bladder control, and that I probably shouldn't sit on the couch.

I now have to wash all the cushion covers before work today if I want to sit on the couch later.

I swear: When crappy things start to happen to me: They just begin to multiply and escalate. This can't all just be in my imagination, right?

Oy vey...

oh man ed, you got it bad. you go from a cat with urinary probs, to a mom with ones.

The problem with Cushions, is the urine often gets soaked into the foam, and you are NEVER going to get that smell out unless you take care of it pronto or use some special cleaner on them

Hmmm... bittersweet farewells... I know the feeling.

Plumbers are here. Gonna cost me 450 clams to replace the faucet. At least I'll get some new shut-off valves under the sink. (There aren't any there now... you have to go down the cellar to shut off the water to the kitchen sink. That will be a real improvement.)

A new faucet will be nice... (a whole new sink would be even better!) but that was a bundle of money I didn't really want to spend right at this moment.

Yeah... well, she is almost 80, so it's something I have to accept as a fact.

Could have been worse... a HELL of a lot worse! :dozey:

She cleaned up after herself immediately. Fortunately: we still have gallons of "Urine Gone!' and other enzyme pet-accident cleaning products on hand, so she was able to attack that right away.

Most of it went on the sleeping-bag she always uses as a blanket on the couch however. That thing is way past time for replacement anyway.

I'll also throw it in the wash before I leave... but I'll pick a new one up as soon as I can get to a department store.

Yesterday: Work was OK. Not much to report. Got home late.

Today: We were off-campus. Work was boring. I don't know why I was there.

Watched new Indy Jones DVD when I got home. While not the best IJ movie... it's certainly not as bad as everybody made it seem.

Now I need to catch up on a week's worth of missed sleep.

how DARE you guys let em triple post!! *shakes fist*

So, i'm in NC right now, with a friend that i've known for like 18yrs. my sister and my niece came down.

yesterday we went to the USS Wisconsin (the iowa class battleship they got in downtown norfolk), it was alright, but it was a drag cus we could only go on the weatherdeck

then we went into the museum part where "she's" docked, it was neat, had some things to play with that my niece liked, and she got to pet a shark ^_^

then later on, we got pizza and played some drunken monolpoly, which for ONCE in ten years when i play with any of my siblings, i won.

I was at Dorkstock... didn't have a good day today even with the convention. The worst part was.. I was hoping to get some nookie, but no bangable single ladies were there.

But the Artist John Kovalic is going to be trapping a feral cat he has befriended, and I am going to be able to get one of the cats 8 week old kittens to take home

Today:

Big birthday bash barbecue for my best buddy!

:D

Spent the day in Dedham, stuffing myself with food and drink, listening to lounge music, watching Office Space and Big Lebowski, and playing Halo 3 death matches against co-workers and students on a giant TV.

Got nothing important done today, and I'm sure as hell gonna be totally exhausted tomorrow... but it was totally worth it.

vacation going alright so far...went clubbing saturday night. it was alright. couple cute girls there, i wasn't in the mood to talk to them though.

i'm pretty broke (worse than ever -_- ) so can't do anything cept stay home and play video games all week. i did set up my weight bench downstairs, so i can at least work out a little. I'm going (not planning, it's going to happen this time.) to pay off all my debts and save my money cause i REALLY want to move out by february.

this means i can't buy lunch at work, can't go out clubbing as much, and need to just chill.

that is my primary objective right now. everything else (hanging out with my friends more, looking for a girlfriend, getting a better job, possibly reenlisting) will follow.
