redrob41
At long last, after many months, I've finally finished my Tusken mod available at DeadlyStream (or FileFront if it ever comes back). This will add a playable Sand Person Male to the game. He will have complete armours for all six classes, Jedi robes, Star Forge robes, and standard clothes. There are a total of seven models and 58 textures. The basis of these models and textures is the Sand People disguise (n_tusken.mdl & N_Tusken04.tga). They have been modified to look as if he is wearing his favourite desert robe and back pack over top of the armour. The armour gauntlets fit over top of the sleeves of his robe, and the chest plate peeks out from the frong opening. For some of the medium and heavy armours, he wears a jet pack, with controls on his chest strap (it is non-functional, but impressive looking). The Jedi robes look like long jacketed versions of the standard robes, without any back pack. The Star Forge armours are similar to the in-game set, but with the cape, belt, & hood all removed, and instead, a Tusken version of Revan's Mask. The LS version has a mask that is inspired by A'Sharrad Hett's helmet ("Emissaries to Malastare" comic). These final two armours are my favourites, because of the masks. I've left out any screenshots of the Star Forge Robes or Revan's Robes, because I think that there should be some surprises. Trust me tho, they're worth it! Edit - I'm now including some Star Forge robes screenshots, because I think they look so cool. There will be more below.

redrob41
Thanks Emperor Devon. I've also released a soundset mod so that when you play as a Tusken, you don't have to sound like a human. Check this thread for all the info.

redrob41
Very good. I'd like to know how you've done all this. The short version of how I did it... first I'd remodel the base tusken in gmax, untill I got the general shape I wanted. Then I'd copy bits of the armour or robe texture onto the Tusken texture. Next I'd edit the uvw map in gmax (going back and forth many times). The important part would be in Photoshop; I used the Actions tab (behind the History tab) to record all the changes I make to the first texture. Then I could insert the next armour and press the play button to duplicate all my original changes. It's a lot more involved than that, but if you use Photoshop, learning how to use the Actions for automating batch processes is a big time saver (there are probably some good tutorials out there on the net). Everything I know about gmax and modifying mdl files (and converting with Taina's replacer tool) I learned through the tutorials here. Basically it took a lot of time and patience. Shem
Though playing this mod will be interesting on Tatooine since you will be attacked by Tusken Raiders and you will also have to get another Tusken disguise just to get in the Sand People Enclave. Yeah, I figure that this is because he is from a different Tribe with different markings and moisture trap (face mask pipes), and maybe these two tribes don't get along. That'd be enough reason to need a disguise.

That'd be enough reason to need a disguise. Yeah but it is not enough reason to have HK-47 as a translator No, I don't pick on you... Any way you did great job And I was wondering if it is possible to make some new Jedi Robes using this models... I mean to replace Tusken's head with human one for Jedi-Tusken model because I like those robes more than original ones
redrob41
Any way you did great job And I was wondering if it is possible to make some new Jedi Robes using this models... I mean to replace Tusken's head with human one for Jedi-Tusken model because I like those robes more than original ones I'm not sure how it would work. The Tusken is a single model for head and body. I supposed you could try to model the head portion down so that it looked like it was not there, but I don't know if the head hook would line up or even attach a separate head model. I also don't know if the animations would work right.
Wookiee Rrudolf
Too bad... This would look good as a robe for humans. But anyway I can at least play as a Tusken

redrob41
THIS IS ASOME IV BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!! GOOD WORK redrob41 !! :D :D Yeah, I know you've been plenty patient while waiting for this, so I hope that the final product is worth it . I think that the first time someone made the request of me, was back in November 2007. I took my time because I wanted to do it right. In the end, I'm highly satisfied with the result (especially the Star Forge Robes, which I worked on last). So, I hope that some of the junior members (like myself) will appreciate just how much time and effort goes into a complete mod. Anyone can knock out a simple mod in a short period of time, but something like this one literally takes months to finish. I'm glad to hear that people are enjoying this mod, since positive feedback just encourages me to do my best on the next mod. I enjoy constructive criticism too, because different points of view help me to improve my work.
SpaceAlex
This must to have taken you a lot of time to make. I know how much time these things can take... especially since they're based on already existing armors, so you had to make sure that your skins resemble those armors. Anyway, while I probably won't use these for the main character (I just can't imagine Revan as a Tusken ), I will definitely use some of these to replace the existing Sand People. Good work! EGJason
Hey, RedRob41 Question!( Although, You've done an Enormous amount of work) Would it be possible to release a Version of this except for Female Revan's, or, is that already in the works? Thanks, EGJason
redrob41
Hey, RedRob41 Question!( Although, You've done an Enormous amount of work) Would it be possible to release a Version of this except for Female Revan's, or, is that already in the works? Thanks, EGJason Originally I wanted to make a female too, but after its taken me about 4 months to do the male, I've reconsidered. If you want to make a quick and simple female, all you have to do is edit your appearance.2da & portraits.2da files: In appearance, copy line #90 (Alien_Sand_Person_Female) to the end of the list (use the next highest number example 671). Rename it to someting unique (like R_FEM_Sand_Person_01) and change column modeltype to "B" (instead of "F"). The other columns to change are all the modela and texa (upto modelj and texj) and replace the fields so they all say "n_tuskenf" instead of ****. Doing this will mean that she will have the same outfit for most clothing (except some will be the n_tuskenf02.tga). Then in portraits.2da, copy line #1 to the end and rename baseresref to "po_RTuskF01". Change appearancenumber & appearance_s & appearance_l all to the Row Label number from appearance.2da (example 671). You can also change the other baseresref values (just follow the same naming sceme as the other characters). The final step is to make portraits. She seems to have all the combat animations, The first person view has some clipping issues, but I didn't do a play through to see how she reacts to the various cinematics (I suspect she'd be the same as the male). Thanks, EGJason You can submit it to FileFront on your own if you like. All the files I mentioned are included in the game (except for the portraits that you'd make), so there isn't anything that I've done. It shouldn't be too hard to set up with TSLPatcher. If you were feeling ambitious, you could even do some extra skins for it, just so there'd be a little variety (6 more simple re-colours should be enough). Have fun
redrob41
A few people here and at FileFront have asked if the Tusken Jedi robes could be used to replace the standard Jedi robe (tunic) for K1. I gave it a try yesterday, and had mixed results. I was able to model the Tusken head out of the way, and get the PMHC01 head to show up on it. That worked fine, but all his animations were the same as the Tusken (mostly the hunched over resting body position). It would look strange to go from standing tall in a suit of heavy armour, then put on a robe and suddenly look like he's carrying a piano on his back. If I can figure out a way to change the animation set, then I'll go ahead with it. Settoken seems to have recently come up with a way to do it, but he's still working out the method, and hasn't released a tutorial yet. I'll keep an eye out for it tho, so hopefully one day (in the future) I'll be able to make a long Jedi robe for K1.
Wookiee Rrudolf
That sounds promising I'm looking forward for it. Good luck with making long robes (even if it will be made in undefined future )
redrob41
Well, it's been awhile, but I think that I should show some screenshots of the Star Forge robes. I originally left those shots out, because I wanted people to have a surprise. I've changed my mind, and now I just want people to see them, because they're my favourite out of the bunch. The light side mask is based loosely on A'Sharad Hett's Tusken mask. I even went so far as to incorporate the Star Forge station logo (slightly modified because of the mirror effect) on the back. That area of the back would normally be covered by the hood or cape, so I figured that it would be a good place for it.
