Da_Man_2423
Thread title pretty much says it all. Another was wounded, and then the attacker committed suicide. My condolences go out to all those involved with this tragic event, on the world's highest stage. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/08/09/earlyshow/main4335177.shtml
Rabish Bini
Terrible, and at the Olympics too, when everyone should be celebrating, people are doing things like that.

Rabish Bini
If only it could've been avoided, something like this always seems to happen at big events...
Marius Fett
It really is sad and PATHETIC that we can't get together and have a good time, without someone doing something like this.
Burnseyy
Something bad always happens during the Olypmics... It's pathetic, because it's supposed to bring people together, but there's selfish people who take it too seriously. Urgh.
tk102
Not that unexpected, and I doubt these will be the last. Actually it is pretty unexpected. The state has a very tight grip over the population and the Chinese are quite proud of their accomplishments on display. This random act is not just against America, but against China as well. Ascendant_Justice
Oh..I just mentioned this in the other Olympic thread :\. It's pretty sad, but I'm honestly not surprised. I was a little relieved when I learned he jumped off a Chinese landmark afterwards. At least he had some class when choosing how to end his pathetic life forever -,-. Was it random, though? The Chinese are indeed proud of what they have done, but a handful of gold's also looks great. This is a generalization, but I wonder if he was sent to attack that coach's relatives to stir them up and give them an advantage in the games. A gold means a lot more to the Chinese than it does the Americans, as Americans aren't seen as failures in the eyes of their nation if they come home with anything less. The fact that he attacked two relatives of a coach competing against them, then killed himself, gives me a feeling that this was either planned before hand, or the man felt it was his honorable obligation to his nation to do so. Or he might have just been insane. *shrug*
GodsillY
I hope it was random because China has enough problems and these Olympics were starting to show the world China can be nice and whatever. It just sucks, especially since the Opening Ceremony was so beautiful and I was getting excited to see Micheal Phelps (sp?) make history, than something like this happens and you forget about all the good and go back to thinking about all the bad and it ruins the whole moment. While we are on the subject my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the American who died. May the american who died R.I.P.
