Pikmin
I'm saving up to get a Xbox 360(I own a Wii), and was wondering which one would be best to get. All recomendations welcome.
Stream
I'd say just go for the standard edition with hard drive, the elite really isn't worth the extra unless you want to watch HD DVD's. --Stream
Pikmin
That does seem to be the best value, Only 10 dollars more than my Wii...
GeneralPloKoon
Just get the 60GB one, no need for 120GB Elite unless you save alot of music, movies, and other content.
Boba Rhett
Whatever you do, for the love of God, wait a month and get a Jasper build. They run much cooler than even the falcon builds. Price wise, I'd go for the 60GB version if you think you won't be needing a HUGE drive. I heard that the fall update is going to enable throwing games onto the hard drive for much faster load times. Anyone hear more on this? That's where a 120gb may come in handy but really, 60 should probably be plenty unless you want 15 games on there. Just something to think about. Da_man
I'd say don't go with the Arcade version if you want to put a lot of music, videos, or anything else on it, or if you want to play Xbox Originals.
Pikmin
I'll probably use a combo of my Wii and a 360 for storing music and stuff. And I probably won't be getting my 360 until late 08- early 09. The only original xbox games i'll probably wan are: Halo/2 and battlefront 2(unless i find some other good ones.) Will the Jasper build be available with the 20GB drive instead of the 60gb one?
Robespierre
I'd say just go for the standard edition with hard drive, the elite really isn't worth the extra unless you want to watch HD DVD's. Did they ever use HD DVDs for games? Or was it just an optional added extra which is now totally defunct and useless? The only original xbox games i'll probably wan are: Halo/2 and battlefront 2(unless i find some other good ones.) Always keep the backwards compatibility issues in mind when talking about Xbox games. Halo 1 and 2 are obviously going to run fine, and Battlefront 2 is apparently relatively fine, but I've heard many complaints about the inadequacy of the 360's backwards-compatibility emulation. Boba Rhett
The Jasper builds will eventually be in all the models but I was under the impression that the 20gb bundles were being phased out and replaced with 60s. Maybe not, I'm not sure. The 60gb bundle is only $299 anyways. No, Microsoft never put games on HD DVDs. The add on is now only useful if you have a lot of HD DVD movies. Q
I second waiting for Jasper. It will have a 65nm GPU as well as the 65nm CPU of the Falcon. It will most certainly be the coolest-running 360 available until the Valhalla chipset with its CPU and GPU combined into a single 65nm chip is released sometime in the distant future. Rev7
I just recently got the Pro Bundle at Best Buy for $299. I did have the choice of getting a 20GB Pro Bundle, for $259, so why not pay the extra $40 for 40GB of memory. I thought that it was the best deal So yeah, I recommend that you get the 60GB Bundle. It will cost extra if you want Xbox Live (if so you will most likely need a much longer ethernet cable. The one that they give to you is really short. ), and a game. Good Luck! Pikmin
so the 60GB Jasper Pro bundle? I plan on setting up wireless acess to live, and I think i'll probably only be using for downloading stuff from the marketplace.
GeneralPloKoon
The 60 GB and 20 Gb are the same thing... the 120GB Elite looks nice, and buying the 120 Hard Drive by itself is more expensive than getting it with the Elite. The 120 will last a long time with downlaods, if you plan on donwloaded loads, get an Elite.
Pikmin
I do like the black look, nice contrast to my white Wii. I'll most likely end up getting that as after looking around it seems to be the best one. And I plan on getting a lot of downloads.
General Dragon
Don't get any one of them, reliability issues, silly Microsoft restrictions, instability, that's what you'll get. Many of my friends made the mistake of buying a XBox 360 and all of them ended up dissapointed and without a console. Buy a Playstation 3 or a PC. urluckyday
Here's what I tell people who ask the same things: If you are looking for a system where you just wanna play both casual and any of the games that are in the 360's library without downloading too much...the Arcade Bundle will do you fine. Good for families, but I would only get it if you're not much of a hardcore gamer. If you are looking for the best of both worlds by being able to download games (and other stuff) along with playing all the games for the 360, this is the best deal for you...and I think it's the best deal of all the 360's. Go for the Pro/Premium 360. If you are as hardcore as they come, you plan to download everything you can get your hands on, and you plan to show your "elite" status by showing off your consoles...the Elite 360 is what you want. Definitely a good choice if you want to spend the money (comes in a slick black paint job unlike the white if you want that as well) In any case, I find it to be the best console out there with the best game library, and no matter what you choose, you can upgrade it later. Also, if you are planning on playing online, you do have to pay, but it's not that expensive, and it's the best online gaming service available. Hope this helps!
