Rogue15
ok just broke my 2 mile time record!!! last record was 18:26, today i ran it in 17:55. in below 40 degree temperature.... i love running this early in the morning when the birds are still sleeping (or have they gone south already?) and the sun is not out. considering getting this mp3 player i saw at walmart that is embedded in headphones (no annoying wire or earbuds), that should help considerably. now it's almost 7am and i'm bored!!! i'll probably be tired at work....bleh..maybe i should go pick up a box to ship the 360 in and get that taken care of today. i got about 5 hours to kill... edlib
Yeah, the newest one is called "Snow Leopard." It's pretty much the same crap, though.Hmm... Yeah, that sounds about right. The Apple snobs I have to deal with every day make each new OS release sound slightly more important and exciting than the the return of the messiah... when they are generally just very minor refreshes and updates (though always EXPENSIVE!!!) As an OS, it's fine. Does the job... though it doesn't give much in the way of options for customization, tweaking, and personalization. I guess that's because Steve Jobs got it so right the first time. (Makes one wonder why the need to update ever in the first place...) Does the built-in camera and everything work seamlessly with Windows?
Keyan Farlander
Hmm... Yeah, that sounds about right. Does the built-in camera and everything work seamlessly with Windows? Everything does except the camera. Or at least that used to be the case - the camera might work now. I have never cared about it, so I've never bothered to see if they fixed that. Zargon
yeah, a new VERSION of OS X is like a Service Pack for a Windows Release but SP's are free from MS. You pay more upfront but none in the long run. OS X costs ALOT to stay up to date
Wildstar
It's closing in on 48 hours until my 25th reunion as I write this. Can't wait to see my old friends there. Sort of wish I had a laptop, though, so I could put up photos from the event that night using the hotel's wifi. I shot a 237 third game last night, so I definitely have something to talk about...too bad I needed that 237 just to save average. hehehehehe This may not be the last reunion for 5 years for me, however: in high school, I was a member of the Commonwealth's State Student Advisory Council and have found a few other members of that on Facebook (including, recently, one of my favorite people from that). I'd like to get a reunion of my year's group together for next summer.
edlib
Blood, Sweat & Tears here tonight. Pretty awesome. The opener was some former Major League baseball player: Ben Broussard. Tony Levin on bass. Pretty smokin'. Someone laid a pair of BSO tickets on me for Saturday night. Kinda random... but I've actually never been to a Boston Symphony show... so I took them. Now I just have to find someone to go with. I called M. immediately... but she already had something. Oh well... You lose some, you lose some. (It seemed like she was disappointed she couldn't go, however...) I'm not sure I know any other single ladies who would like to attend the symphony, and won't already have plans for Saturday night at this point. I'll probably end up going alone... or asking some musician buddy I know if he wants to go. If worse comes to worse, my mom might want to go... but I doubt it. But maybe I could give her both tickets so maybe she and my aunt could go together... That might be a nice gesture.

Keyan Farlander
Nice, ed - what music is being played?
edlib
MARTINŮ -The Frescoes of Piero della Francesca STRAVINSKY - Capriccio for piano and orchestra THOMAS - Helios Choros II (Sun God Dancers) (American premiere; BSO co-commission) TCHAIKOVSKY - Francesca da Rimini No music that I really know. I've heard the Stravinsky... totally unfamiliar with the rest. For free... it's worth a trip. I was supposed to work that night... but I swapped shifts with someone earlier in the week, so now the night is open. I really wish I could find a single attractive female who is an avid music fan to share the experience with... but it's probably way too late to make that happen now. Well... Maybe I'll meet someone there.

So there is a new piece being played, huh? Hm. Did I ever tell you guys about the time I was at our own BSO (Baltimore Symphony Orchestra), and there was a new piece being played at the concert? As soon as it was over I turned to my mother who was there with me and none too quietly remarked what an utter piece of crap it was. They then invited the composer up to say a few words. He was sitting right behind me. Yeah, that was good times...
edlib
Yeah... probably the reason there were free tickets to give away.

edlib
What... You want applause, too? I thought the whole point of "getting lucky" was that it is it's own reward. For what it's worth: good job. I, myself, have pretty much lost all hope at this point that it will ever happen for me again in my lifetime. Without money exchanging hands, that is... Or my having to lower what few standards I now have to the point where I will need to learn to live with whatever social diseases I contract in the process. Or both. Most likely, both. Rogue15
ouch. taking 2 days off of running...shin splints are so damn annoying. ran 18:28 today...think with 2 days rest, i'll be able to run 17:30. hoping. probably got them because i didn't get any rest on them since i forget when. i hiked about 7 miles wednesday, ran 2 miles thursday, ran 11 miles yesterday (which had alot of hills) and then the 2 miles today i didn't want to but said hell with the pain i'm already awake, and went for it. 2 days rest should avoid stress fracturing. then again, i'm working and standing on concrete floor for hours at a time which really sucks but i got work shoes so it won't be as bad. making some eggs n toast for 2nd breakfast. edlib
I've had those days... Never found anyone to go to the symphony with me... but someone who could use both tix... so I gave them away. I doubt I would have made it all the way through: I've been up since 4am, and working since 7:30. Wiped out. At least I know someone will use them. Off to take a nap. Then if I have any energy later, I might go buy an iPod.
Keyan Farlander
I did eventually succeed in replacing the smoke detector. So I guess I'm only a 50% failure. However, the door is not really my fault. It's just too wide for the opening. So I have to get a friend with a table saw to cut it down some for me. Rogue15
considering going running tomorrow morning, even though i told my feet i'd give them 2 days of rest. the shoes i got for work definitely helped alleviate the pain i've been getting in my heels. i'm going to stay the hell off the roads for a week and hope running the track alone will help my speed. my friend got all mad at me for not making any moves on the new girl. i told him i don't really give a damn, that i'm not all that interested in her anyway. we only seem to share one thing in common, which is drinking, something i'm trying not to do as much, as after this summer it got boring as hell, the hangovers are annoying, and it's just too damn expensive considering nobody ever pitches in for the gas. she said she goes running sometimes, i guess i'll invite her sometime and see what happens. i still gotta get to know her, maybe there's more than a few things we have in common. not that it matters, but maybe i can hook her up with my friend, since i don't really care to have a girlfriend that is also my coworker.
