Since black holes and whit holes are basically the same I have to wonder about this as well. I suspect either, yes it's the source, or it's just some kind of cosmic engine here and there. GarfieldJL Posted January 20, 2009 Share Posted January 20, 2009 Part of the reason that it is believed that black holes are essential to the formation of a Galaxy is that the stars in the Galaxy have to be orbiting something that is extremely massive at the center. There is more to it than that, it is believed space-time is curved and the gravitational distortion in the fabric of space-time is so strong it is believed that it punches a hole in it and thus the idea of a white hole, because the matter has to go somewhere.
