News Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 In the latest Developer Dispatch, The Old Republic developers take us behind the scenes to see what went in to the development of the newest announced class, the Trooper. Watch the video above, or check it out at the official site! Read the full story at starwarsmmo.net...
jrrtoken Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 The trooper designs aren't half-bad, actually. Sure, there were several scout and snowtrooper clones, or "homages", but the armor isn't aesthetically bad to look at. The animations are also pretty decent, especially if they're using motion capture.

I don't like that they chose to resemble the armor of the Republic Trooper on the Clone Trooper, but the design itself is pretty good. And that goes for the animations even more, I think.
True_Avery Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Hopefully I'll be able to play the demo in 4 days at E3, its shaping up well. I'll reserve my complaints until I see more.

Rathoris Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 the 'death' animations look a whee bit static to me but otherwise an ok-ish video.
Rinku Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 That was pretty cool ...This is making up for the horrible comic imo.
Hallucination Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 the 'death' animations look a whee bit static to me but otherwise an ok-ish video. I was thinking the same thing, hopefully they add more than one per model.
Rathoris Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 i think heroengine already has physics technology integrated in it so having some rag-doll stuff to make it look less lame shouldn't be too hard.

That's assuming the way combat is designed is physics-friendly, but from the videos it looks like it'll be a lot like kotor, which would make the attacks almost exclusively animated.
