Star Wars: The Sith Resurrection Part VI: Death to the Sith

Tyrannus suddenly appeared after the dust settled. He said, "Broken? Really Kaltas did you think that it ends with Virul? Have you forgotten the lesson about the darkness?"

"I haven't forgotten," Andros spoke up. "Yet you have no army."

"You think so?"

The dust then cleared to reveal hundred, thousands, probably millions of hordesmen and other kinds of demon like creatures. The Blood King then appeared to stand right beside Tyrannus. Tyrannus then said, "You are welcome to try."

The Blood King roared, "Attack!"

All of a sudden there appeared old friends led by Riyusaan. He thumped his staff and said, "Your time has come. Here we will settle this."

Tavaryn grinned then looked straight ahead. "We gotta get faster." With an extra burst of energy he shot forward. At the same time he with drew his shuriken. "The battle may not be in our favor."

(@JM12 and Chev: You seem to have forgotten about the Republic Dropships, so I decided to pick up that little loose thread)

"You have an army? Well, so do we." Komad replied, looking up at the sky as the Republic Dropships descended on the planet.

Spotting the dropships, Reyvan opened a commlink with one of them. "Destroy their ship, they can't be allowed to escape!"

Tyrannus then grinned, "This'll be fun then."

Then the artillery from his side began to fire and the armies began to charge. It was like a tidal wave crashing on a beachhead.

Karaka was circling with Jun-la before launchign an attack. Jun-la deftly dodged it and leaped in the air to rain down a strike of her own. Karaka blocked and swiped at her. He barely scratched her but the sight of her blood was enough to spur him on.

Jun-la used the speed she had and added just a little more so that she would disappear and then reappear somewhere else in the blink of an eye. She did it so fast and often that it looked like there were multiple versions of her. When Karaka managed to land a body shot, she skidded backwards to a stop.

"So you've learned the flash step. I would have thought that you would be more reliant on your Force," Karaka taunted in an effort to keep her from knowing how tired he really was.

"Sometimes you release something when it is the right time," Jun-la replied. She was panting herself but it was not as heavy. Damn! It's been awhile since I've practiced and it shows. He landed some hard ones but he is tiring and fast. Just a little longer.

"Then you are a fool. Warriors like you and me need to be tested. What is the purpose of locking away a skill if you intend to fight?"

"There are more things than fighting but the fight is a driving force," Jun-la replied, "It is in all of us. The powerful are driven to battle to test themselves and to gain strength. Yet to do so without a purpose means nothing."

"And what is your purpose?"

The words were barely ot of Karaka's mouth when Jun-la flashed forward into the air and strike with all her might. The force of the blow broke Karaka'a blades and sent him howling in pain. Upon landing, Jun-la finished him off by bringing her ups upwards and slicing him open. As Karaka looked at her with death in his eyes, she said, "I get stronger because it's what I am and I use it to protect."

Karaka fell down dead. Jun-la was still panting, unaware that a figure flashed right behind her.

The Blood King had been seeking her out as he smacked the Republic soldiers that landed aside with huge force. When he saw her, he flashed forward to right behind her and had raised his huge blade to strike her down.

Matton was in the middle of fixing something when he sensed it. Then an image flased in his mind and he saw Jun-la and behind her...

He dropped his hydrospanner and told R4 to stay with the ship and jumped on one of the swoops that happened to be in the garage section of the ship and took off. He had to save her.

Tonatius managed to give his cousin a quick hug and gave a peck to Kalla when they were surrounded by the enemy. Andorra needed to be kept away and watched as the Republic soldier carried her away. He realised though that he needed help and said, "Kalla, we need to by time for Andorra to make it to the ship. Let's cover Iyav's flank."

Wrath had just finished impaling his foe when he turned to see Tyrannus with an even larger army. He backed up to get closer to where Andorra was only to see she was being taken away by a republic soldier. He looked over at Kalla and Tonatius who were planning to help the the soldier. He made his was over to them as quickly as he could.

"I'll help you cover him."

"Thanks." Kalla replied, and she started to follow Iyav, using her lightsaber to deflect stray blaster blots, and cut down any Hordesmen who got too close. "So, who is she, anyway?" Iyav asked. "My ex-girlfriend, among other things." Kalla explained.

"Destroy their ship, they can't be allowed to escape!"

Lead pilot Hira nodded in response even though no one could see him do it. "You heard him. Alpha squadron you'll be coming with me to destroy the ship. Beta squadron will land the remainder of the troops to aid the jedi."

Three of the troopships took off toward the ship and the remaining troopships settled to the ground and troops began to pour out of them and headed for the battle site.

"The battle may not be in our favor."

Alriana turned to him and smiled when she saw where Garja was. He was steadily falling behind now.

"We will meet up with you at the battle site." She called back at him and he nodded in response as he fell further behind.

She then turned her attention back to Tavaryn and frowned. "Why didn't you tell me that earlier? We could have brought more troops or weapons with us."

Tavaryn thought for a moment before answering, "We didn't have a chance but Admiral Belina has our back. She would have sent dropships to our location." He paused to check to see the distance. "Besides, it is difficult to ascertain numbers when it is difficult to infiltrate enemy ranks."

**********

Tonatius was on point as he held Iyav and Kalla get Andorra out of the battle. The hordesmen were fairly easy but as he noticed they were lower level. In the back of his mind, he worried that there was something greater than these guys. He caught sight of the former assassin and signalled him to take point and he would guard the side. He said, "Take point. I'll take right flank." Then to Kalla, "Shift left."

**********

The Blood King thought it would be an easy kill. To kill a descendant of his mortal enemy was nothing sort of an aphrodisiac of sorts. He swung down with all his might intent on cleaving her in half. His sword came down, down and it stopped. A shudder rang up his arms. He looked down and saw...

Jun-la may have been out of breath but she was still connected to the Force. It was warning her that something was behind her and putting her in danger. In an instant, she spun around and brought her sword up and put all her resolve into blocking the blow. It worked for she hardly felt the strength of the blow but that didn't make her let up. She looked ip at the Blood King who was staring down at her with surprise on his face. "Trying to cheap shot me?"

The Blood King contorted his face into a menacing scowl, "Take what you can and give nothing back. That is the way of it."

Jun-la moved her sword to swing off the enemy's blade and it slid off with a clang. She pointed it straight at the Blood King in a defensive posture. "Then it is clear you have no shou."

"A waste of time to think about shou in battle. When you're at war, you're at war."

"Then let us get going with our business of war," Jun-la replied knowing that talk was wasted on this foul creature whose spirit had inhabited those willing to sucumb to hate.

"My pleasure,' the Blood King replied smiling. He brought his sword back and then flashed forward in attack.

**********

Tyrannus made his way through the battle, killing the enemy as he made his way towards Kaltas. When he was behind him, he said, "Funny how battle can distract one to the point where they aren't aware of who's coming and going."

...wounded, scattered. Virul...gone...how can it be? I don't hear his voice in my head anymore...Carried. On a ship? Where am I...my poor skull, it burns like the molten lava on Mustafar...Kalla? Is that you? I love you. Kalla?...

Lost...I have lost. No longer powerful. Must rest...Am I saved, or damned? Body so weak, so cold, insensitive...Love. Who will love me now? Forsaken...

Andorra Evenstar plunged back into the merciful depths of unconsciousness.

"Oh, I was aware the whole time." Komad replied, revealing that he was holding his lightsabers backwards in his hands. "If you're going stab someone in the back, the trick is to do it quietly." He drove them back and towards Tyrannus.

Following Tonatius' instructions, Kalla moved to the left, and continued to protect Iyav and Andorra. "Not much further, I can see the ship from here." Iyav pointed out.

"Besides, it is difficult to ascertain numbers when it is difficult to infiltrate enemy ranks."

Even from where they were Alriana could hear the sounds of battle. She could faintly hear shouts and screams in the air. We must be close to the battle by now, she thought.

"So...what do you propose we do once we reach the battle site? We should come up with some sort of strategy before we rush into the battle."

A sudden, disturbing thought came to mind.

I think that someone remain behind just in case we don't make it back in order to alert the republic of our failure to stop the sith. Then they can send more jedi and more troops to stop them."

She looked back at Garja who was still trying to catch up and smiled slightly before turning to Tavaryn. "And I believe I know the perfect man for the job."

In the air

Lead pilot Hira grinned at he watched the sitting sith ship come into firing range and he opened up a communications line to the other two dropships. "Alright boys and girls. The sith ship will be in firing range in around ten seconds. Remember, open up on it with everything once we're in range. We don't want the sith to escape."

Before the two pilots could acknowledge the sith ship came into firing range and Hira and the others began to open fire on it with everything they had.

Tavryn halted and grinned at Alriana's implication. "We do need a strategy and we do need someone to get back." He looked at Garja. "The former Imperial might be useful. Though I think we need to wait for him to catch his breath."

**********

Tyrannus saw the movement and reacted quickly. He flashed right in front of Komad and gave a glancing blow to the shoulder with his sword. "Too slow."

The wound wasn't designed to be deep but to hurt enough to make a point.

**********

Tonatius nodded then frowned, "The pilot isn't there. We must stay with the ship then."

"We do need a strategy and we do need someone to get back." The former Imperial might be useful. Though I think we need to wait for him to catch his breath."

Alriana frowned and looked back at Garja who was now steadily catching up with them.

"I do have a plan for the battle but I'm not sure if it's one you will agree with which is why I haven't mentioned it beforehand. I propose that we attack their weak point and then fight our way toward the where the others are fighting."

She shrugged her shoulders.

"I didn't say it was a good plan but so far it's the only plan that I have. If I could get a good look at the battle zone I could probably come up with a better one."

She smiled at Garja as he finally showed up. Apart from being slightly sweaty and breathing a bit heavily he seemed fine. He looked at the two of them suspiciously.

"Listen Admiral. We may need you to go back to warn the republic in case we don't make it out of here. Once you get back, you need to report the location of this planet to Admiral Belina so she can bring more troops."

She turned to look at Tavryn.

"If thats alright with you of course."

"At the very least, we should still be able use the gun turrets and the shields to defend it." Kalla commented.

Despite the searing pain, Komad remained calm and resolute. He flipped his lightsabers around, then blocked another swing from Tyrannus with one, while striking at him with the other.

"That is a logical point," Tavaryn conceded, "But judging from the sounds, the batttle has already begun. Perhaps we may have to charge in and carve a swath. What say you Alriana?"

***********

Tyrannus flashed back before the strike could hit him. "As I said too slow."

"Too slow for whom?"

It was too late and Tyrannus barely got away but with a burning sensation on his arm. Andros had managed to make his way to Komad after catching sight of Tyrannus flashing forward. He had his lightsaber out and was challenging Tyrannus. He said, "Too slow for you perhaps?"

Andros managed to sidestep and get next to Komad and he said, "Are you all right?"

Tyrannus growled and held his sword up.

***********

"Yeah Sis. Just as long as you don't scratch the surface," Kalla's brother Andros stepped down the ramp. "It was easy to stow away despite Master Jun-la saying it was safer on board the Ackbar." He then motioned Iyav to follow him to where the med bay was and had him put Andorra on the bed.

"I'm fine." Komad replied, dodging another slash and managing to graze Tyrannus' leg in response. "An enmity of ages, but not mine."

"There's more we can do here. Once Andorra's condition is stabilised, we need to get this ship up and running." Kalla explained. Then, turning to Iyav, she asked, "Iyav, do you know to fly a freighter like this?"

"Yeah, I used to fly something similar, back when I was a smuggler." Iyav replied. "What do you have in mind?"

Kurt tossed a plasma grenade at a group of enemies, causing their bodies to go flying once it went off. He pulled out his rifle an began to go to work on the hordsemen. He quickly dove behind cover to reload his rifle. As soon as he popped up he was met with a sword coming towards his face. Kurt dove under this and shot the wielder in the face with his pistol. He started backing up when he noticed Komad and Andros taking on Tyrannus. This left the Blood King, which Kurt couldn't see at the moment. He crouched down on one knee and took aim at Tyrannus. He exhaled slowly before proceeding to fire his blaster rifle at Tyrannus.

Wrath nodded at Tonatius and did as he was told. He relaxed a bit once they finally got Andorra to safety. Seeing that his mission was complete, he saw no reason to stay here.

"Well you seem to have things under control here, I should probably go back and help the others unless either of you need me for something." Wrath said to both Kalla and Iyav.

"It would be a good idea if you stayed. Plus we shouldn't leave the ground yet. If we hold here, we at least provide a means of escape for everyone else," Tonatius replied.

Andros had been checking the systems and came back with a report, "Most of the damage is minor and has been patched up by R4. A sort of defensive perimeter had been set up the moment everyone left the ship."

"Matton's work," Tonatius supplied. "We have a defense. We just have to hold it."

**********

Tyrannus growled at his opponents but then smiled. He reached out with his hand and into it flew a rifle. He turned to the one who tried to shoot him and said, "Predictable of you."

Andros took the opportunity to try and get in a slash.

Tyranus promptly defended and went after Komad giving another blow and then about faced to give a nasty slash on Andros' arm. It was followed by a kick to one and a handle butt to teh other. It was too fast to be seen. Then as if adding insult to injury, he flung the weapon he had taken back at the soldier he had taken it from with all his might towards the soldier's knees.

*********

Matton managed to make it to the fringes of the battle. He scanned the clouds trying to find Jun-la. He managed to spot Komad and Andros fighting the one who caused grief at Bastion. Even though they looked pretty beat up, they were holding their own. He looked and saw Republic and those wierdos he met before fighting until he came upon Jun-la. She was still alive and delivering a sting even though she was moving too fast to fully take in what she was doing.

Jun-la delivered a glancing blow to the Blood King who roared in frustration. She then brought her sword in a downward swipe only to have it hit his shoulder and not do anything. She backed away quickly to avoid being caught. What is this? The cuts I gave were superficial yet the more serious ones didn't even cut him. Why?

"Don't look so suprised," the Blood King said, "You of all peopel should know that those who truly love battle for battle's sake never die."

"If that were the case, then the Mandalorians would still be strong," Jun-la replied. She hid her heavy breathing well.

"Bah! They may relish war but they lose their resolve too easily."

"And I suppose you don't?"

"You really don't want the answer to that."

"If we're staying put with the loading ramp shut, it's a three person job: one person needs to man the dorsal gun turret, another for the quad lasers, and one last person needs to control the remote turret below the cockpit. And lastly, someone should keep an eye on Andorra, and administer any additional medication if need be." Kalla explained to everyone, "I'll take the dorsal turret."

"Live by the sword, die by the sword. You're no different." Reyvan added, approaching the Blood King as he fought Jun-la and Matton. "Even if you kill us, you're going nowhere. I've ordered the Republic Guardsmen to destroy your ship, and we'll be off the moment we've got everyone on board."

"Everyone's predicable in the end. Even the so called unpredictable ones. I can easily predict that you'll be defeated, and then somehow escape, unless of course, we remember to cut off your escape route." Komad commented. "Did you predict that?"

"Rhyme and reason. You truly have adapted to my people," Tyrannus grinned. "Much of what you speak of is merely tactics, things that I have to teach the other two. Possibilities are endless which is why there are those that study battle."

"Yes our people study battle," Andros replied, "Yet we are enlightened to know when to use it and when not to."

"Hah! No wonder the Jedi are weak. They got their philosphy from our bleeding heart brothers."

"True we shared ideas. Yet there are things that one cane be strong in without turning," Andros said.

"Oh and what is that?"

**********

"Stand down Master Reyvan," Jun-la held out her hand to stop the master's advance. "Do not interfere."

Matton stood there where he was occassionaly dispatching an enemy who decided to take him on. He recognized the gleam in her eye, the resolve. he knew she wouldn't lose. He shouted, "Do what she says."

The Blood King chuckled, "So you want to take me on alone and not with help?" He then looked at her closely. Liking what he saw he said, "Alright then. You and me. That is if your partners can stand to stay out of it."

"You're alone, Tyrannus. We've always strength in numbers, and in trust, but you? When was the last time you trusted anyone? I know you never trusted Virul, or Peelal, or Dar, or even Mortis, and I doubt you really trust the Blood King." Komad said to Tyrannus. "Do you really think he won't try to dispose of you once your usefulness reaches its end?"

"I hope you know what you're doing." Reyvan replied, stepping back. He then said to Matton, "We should get back to the Hawk. Tyrannus and the Blood King are the only real threat here. As long as they don't get too close, the Guardsmen should be able to make short work of that Horde."

"When they have outlived their usefulness, then I move on. Simple as that," Tyrannus replied with a shrug. "After all what is buried in their souls is never truly gone."

**********

Matton would have gone but he said, "I'll stay. I won't interfere but I won't go back. The ship is well guarded anyway."

Jun-la gave no indication that she heard Matton. Her eyes were focused on the Blood King. He grinned as if he had a sudden showering of gifts as he raised his blade. "So you aim to fight now. Just for fun I'll let you give the first strike." Then to show he was serious, he opened his robes to reveal his bare chest and give a clear target.

Jun-la paused not sure what game he was playing. From their talk about fighting for battle's sake, she had the impression that he was trying to show her she was weak. She knew that elementary science came into play. When two forces collide, the impact is absorbed by the weaker force. She surmised that he was trying to taunt her. She wasn't going to leap into that so easily so she said, "Follish to reveal yourself to wounds unless you know something."

"That's for you to find out. Since you won't strike, perhaps that insolent Jedi master who tried to interfere would like to take a swing?"

"But judging from the sounds, the batttle has already begun. Perhaps we may have to charge in and carve a swath. What say you Alriana?"

Alriana's eyes closed shut for a moment as she thought of the option that had been presented to her.

"I agree. But we should be careful. We have no idea of the suprises the enemy may have in store for us."

She turned to look back at Garja who had finally caught up.

Garja looked at the two of them before nodding. "If that is your wish then I will head back and inform Admiral Belina of the location of this planet. But I warn you, she may still be locked in combat with Velerc."

Alriana motioned for him to go and he turned around and began running back toward the ship.

"If Belina can't come, the Ghostriders will," Tavaryn replied before Garja left. He watched him go before turning to Alriana. He thought it unfair to thrust her into a serious battle but then she had been battling ever since she woke up. If there was one thing his enemies underestimated, it was his compassion.

Taking a breath, he asked, "So weapon of choice?" It was his way of asking if she was ready to go.

"An obvious trap." Reyvan commented, still cautious. He turned to Matton, and whispered, "If I'm right, he's only expecting a melee attack."

"This talk doesn't change the fact that you're stuck on this planet." Komad replied. "Win or lose, you're going to rot here." He then charged at Tyrannus, keeping one lightsaber in a defensive position, and the other on the offensive.

Tyrannus was on the balls of his feet and he flashed forward disappearing from Komad's view and showing up behind him. He turned to strike but was blocked by Andros, who had moved the moment he did. He jumped back and moved again.

Anrdos was ready and concentrated his power. He moved in front of Komad to deflect the blow and aloow him to maneuever. Tyrannus replied, "You've improved. Perhaps you think you can defeat me?"

*********

Jun-la countered the move by teh Blood King. They were moving so fast that Matton had a hard time keeping up. He said to Reyvan, "I don't think it is going to be all melee. For some reason, I think it is a battle of wills."
