News
This week we are treated to two updates to the Star Wars: The Old Republic website. The first is a new developer dispatch video featuring the creation of Taris. We also see the final episode of the webcomic Threat of Peace. Quote from BioWare Staff Returning to Taris Once home to a sprawling planet-wide city, Taris [...] Read the full story at starwarsmmo.net... Hallucination
How do we sell the fact that Taris was a city planet and then all these thousands of years later... Aside from that I liked this update, but now that Threat of Peace is gone what will everyone complain about?
Gurges-Ahter
Aside from that I liked this update, but now that Threat of Peace is gone what will everyone complain about? Don't worry - Star Wars fans always find something to complain about. Plus, there was this from Sean Dahlberg: This is the final issue for Threat of Peace. That said, we do have an announcement coming in two week’s related to The Old Republic webcomic. My guess is that Threat of Peace is over, but the next Webcomic series will be starting up soon. Te Darasuum Mandalor
never really got into threat of peace. It wasn't really my thing. I prefer the KOTOR comics with Zayne and Marn Hieriogryph.
Gurges-Ahter
I think the Threat of Peace comic served its purpose as a teaser to the game. When coupled with all of the other pieces of information we're getting from the holonet and timeline entries, it fits in nicely in giving us enough to stay interested this far out from game release. Is it as good as Tales of the Jedi, Legacy, or KotOR as a comic? Not even close, but that isn't the intent either. We have to wait for the game to get any meat of the story. Sir Vougalot
Yeah, I gave up on Threat of Peace a long time ago. I'll probably buy Dark Horse's trade paperback and catch up on it, though.
Web Rider
Yeah, I gave up on Threat of Peace a long time ago. I'll probably buy Dark Horse's trade paperback and catch up on it, though. I got bored of the comic quickly as well, the seeming lack of continuity as well as jumping plots just made me too bored to continue. I hope that the next comic will be a little more directed. RogueJedi86
Give us a comic that focuses on the non-Forcies types. A comic all about Troopers and Smugglers and Bounty Hunters and Agents. Use that to swing people towards rolling the Gun-slingers and away from the Forcies, possibly evening up the ratio of Jedi:Non-Jedi in TOR. Deceit
I might be wrong, but why make another comic for just the year it might take for the game to get out... They might though keep going even after then game is out too
RogueJedi86
Well the comic gives storyline hints and it's an entertaining until release. It also keeps us up to date on this previously unexplored setting 300 years after KotOR, and keeps the story focus that TOR so obviously has. On the hints, we've seen several classes and planets in the comic long before their official announcements. Like the Imperial Agent was in the ToP comic first. Gurges-Ahter
I agree with Rogue - I think that was the exact purpose of Threat of Peace, which is why so many people complain about it because they think it's supposed to be a full-blown comic series like Tales of the Jedi or KotOR. It's really just a teaser for the game and will drop little tidbits of info to provide some backstory (such as the Sith being after Satele because she has Revan's bloodline). BTW, this hasn't been talked about much, but I think it's a HUGE development for the story. #1, it pretty much confirms that Satele is from Revan and Bastila's lineage, and #2, it shows that Revan has a MAJOR role in the Sith attack if he is held so important to have his bloodline tracked and coveted for inclusion with the attack. adamqd
Wasn't Directed at you in particular, just that everyone is making a big deal about Story, and although I know Bioware have said they are all about the 4th pillar, I fail to see how a storyline can be that relevant in an MMO environment... Its all gonna be Gear, Loot, PVP and Bragging rights. I think most of the Work going into Story will be wasted on a majority of the player base. like, "Cool Story brah, Now, lets get a group together and Roll these Jedi lovers!" springs to mind

For now I've turned a blind eye to it and I am just hoping for the best, as story is really all I care about in a video game. I drank the kool-aid. RogueJedi86
Don't forget the elitist raiding mentality in WoW that results in what is known as "lorelol", people who completely dismiss any story or plot without even trying to read or experience it. adamqd
I expect it for the first few months at least, the Elite will come from all corners of the MMO world thinking their niche skills will prevail here, I avoid those sleemo's personally.
Hallucination
Don't forget the elitist raiding mentality in WoW that results in what is known as "lorelol" Is that what "lorelol" means? I remember back when it became popular with The Burning Crusade because Blizzard messed around with their canon.
RogueJedi86
It has a few meanings. I've seen it used by people who are completely dismissive of lore and just say "lorelol" anytime it's brought up, rather than actually talk about it. I bet all them Elitist Raiders from WoW couldn't tell their Ulic Quel-Dromas from their Cay Quel-Dromas.
