Weapon Model Overhaul Texture Rework

Recommended Posts

Toasty Fresh recently released his Weapon Model Overhaul, which replaced nearly all the low poly weapons with pristine new models and textures. However, I liked the idea of the textures for the weapons matching the game's original icons more closely than they did (or, in some cases, weapons being more varied than they were) so I set about editing Toasty Fresh's textures to make them look more like the original game's icons. And, with Toasty Fresh's permission, I am now releasing my work.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NOTE: THIS MOD NEEDS TOASTY FRESH'S WEAPON MODEL OVERHAUL IN ORDER TO WORK PROPERLY! DOWNLOAD HERE: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=213484
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

» LIST OF CHANGES

- Replaces all weapon textures with variations of Toasty Fresh's textures.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
» INSTALLATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

An installation which involves the TSL Patcher has been made ready for your use and is the simplest and easiest way to carry out installation.

If you wish, for whatever reason, to not use TSL Patcher it will require you to manually copy and paste files from the tslpatchdata folder into the specific folders they need to be placed in.

Note: I am not responsible for any incompatibility issues that may arise (whether the mod was installed with TSLPatcher or manually) from the use of this mod in conjunction with other mods. Though I will do my best to fix any legitimate bugs.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
» TSL PATCHER INSTALLATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1) Double click WMOTR Installer.exe found in the main directory of the Weapon Model Overhaul Texture Rework Folder.

2) Click the button labeled "Install Mod."

3) Click yes to the box that'll pop up... if you wish to proceed with installation.

4) Watch as all the little file names and progress reports scroll by and wait until the installer is complete.

(NOTE: This will replace any files that have the same names as the ones being installed.)

NOTE: THIS MOD NEEDS TOASTY FRESH'S WEAPON MODEL OVERHAUL IN ORDER TO WORK PROPERLY! DOWNLOAD HERE: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=213484

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
» MANUAL INSTALLATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1) Go into the tslpatchdata folder, then into the KotOR 1 Installation folder.

2) Copy all files not named info.rtf and changes.ini into the Override folder found in your KotOR 1 main directory (Default path on Windows 7 is C:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR\Override).

» SPECIAL THANKS

A huge thank you to Toasty Fresh for creating his Weapon Model Overhaul. Basically, he did the hardest work for this mod, making the models and textures, and he allowed me to use his textures, rework them a bit, and release them.

Thanks Toasty Fresh!

As you can see, this one says it has a custom icon. The reason being Chuundar's bowcaster wasn't very unique looking in-game, even though the item description said it had very heavy modifications by Czerka. Now it has an appearance to fit that description.

Both the Mandalorian repeater and the Baragwin repeater shared the icon and texture of Ordo's repeating blaster in the vanilla game. As such, I created unique icons and textures for them.

Originally, Ajunta Pall's blade shared the Krath Double Sword's icon and textures and this yellow sword icon was left unused. I put it in use as Ajunta's blade, as the Krath Sword's bluish texture is more in line with the rest of the Krath items color-wise.

Edited slightly from the original icon, all I did was make it slightly paler so that it was more easily discernible from Sanasiki's blade.

Both Mission's vibroblade and the prototype vibroblade shared the texture and icon of the Krath Blood Blade, so I made unique icons and textures for them.

The Baragwin Assault Blade shared the Sith Tremor Sword's icon and texture in the vanilla game, and this icon was left unused. Thus, I assigned it to the Baragwin Assault Blade.

If the pictures aren't working you can look here for the melee weapons, and here for the ranged weapons.

first another thumbs up here to Phildevil for those links ... :thmbup1:

I think I will take "borrowed" a bunch of these FGs' mixing them with Toasty's textures ... possibly leaving a ... 60% Toasty's 40% FG's final distribution in my Override ... :brow:

if you both (FG/Toasty) allow me (& agree with the 'distribution'), that is :lol:

haha ... thx a lot, "again" ... :golfclap:

P.S. wait a sec ... wasn't this a textures mod? why all these utis and models? utis required for all these "additional" txis probably, FG?? :raise:

Yay for collabs!

Yes! That's just what I was looking for - Toasty Fresh's models combined with vanilla-esque textures. Great job FG!

Great idea for original enthusiast

Nice job buddy. :) Really nice stuff.

Really nice work FG!

Thanks all of you!

Thanks for the link Phildevil.

Wow this is top notch stuff!

Did anyone ever know about Teta's Blade? First time I've ever encountered that melee weapon. Where in K1 is it located? Same goes for Massassi Brand.

Thanks! I've never actually seen Teata's blade or the Massassi brand, if I remember correctly. I'm doing a run through of KotOR right now actually, so I'll keep my eyes open.

Waiting on you to upload it to Deadly Stream, FG!

Uploaded it now!

I cannot see any of these pictures. Any alternate link?

Nevermind: these seems to work:

Huh, didn't realize the pictures weren't working for some. I'll add those links into my original post.

Haha, thanks. As for the models, UTIs and TXIs, they're needed to work in some of my changes and new variations.

I think I once got the massassi brand ... but it was SOOOOO long ago :p

just edit a merchant file (utm) and add it/them to the one of your preference ... according to when u want to "find" these items in your playthrough ...

or ... if u have time ... check each utm file to see if one of the merchants actually does sell one of these ... :raise: (I'm too lazy to do it right now :xp:)

hope that helps :smoke2:

I don't post that much here anymore, but I wanted to come in and say that this mod is fantastic. The weapons looks great, and they all look really good! I look forward to the TSL version.

Thank you to both Fallen Guardian and Toasty Fresh for your hard work.
