TheJackal Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 It was said that it will change transportation for ever! Yeah, make people too lazy to walk IMHO.
TieDefender75 Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 I saw that piece of cr@p! If i bought that i would gain 1000 lb:D "It" was just like in south park!
Clefo Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 Boy every generation is gonna get lazier and lazier.. What the hell is wrong with walking anyway? Walking isn't as bad a running...
Boba Rhett Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 It was a big disappointment. What's so revolutionary about it and why would people have/want two in each household? I'm not going to pay three thoushand dollars for a fancy scooter.
TieDefender75 Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 LOL thats what i thought when i saw it!
Rogue15 Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 stupid!!! it'd be better if it hovered 4 feet off the ground and had twin mounted foreward laser cannons.
Eets Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 Umm, pardon my ignorance, but wotcha talking about?
Jedi_Knight Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 yeah are you talking about a hovering scooter:confused:
Rogue15 Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 i was referring that "IT" would be cooler as a Battle STAP.
Eets Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 *off topic* Jackal, your avatar gets better and better every time
TheJackal Posted December 4, 2001 Author Posted December 4, 2001 For a while now some people have been talking nothing but good things about an invention in NewYork (I think its there). It was said by many to change today's transportation. According to the creator it will replace cars. IMHO: will it be safe from snow? robbers? road rage? etc.... Anyways, here's a picture of it: web site: Segway (the maker) official web site
Rogue15 Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 imaging what'd happen while riding one of those through a thunderstorm!
TheJackal Posted December 4, 2001 Author Posted December 4, 2001 Yeah. It must be pretty useless when it rains (Seattle) and when it snows. So how is this thing supposed to change modern transport if I can only use it 3 to 5 months during year!
Metallus Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 Heh, sorry to go against the grain, but I think it's an interesting device, and the technology involved could be used for much more practical devices. It's a step forward (or a roll or whatever), simply considering the amount of engineering involved for balance and stuff. They could probably keep retooling this to the point where the balance technology could be used for vehicles that flew (sounds a bit fanciful but hey, it's about time we had some personal flying craft).
Tie Guy Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 So whats the big deal?!? Its just a motorized uni-scooter of sorts, they already have those. This won't revolutionize anything, and i remember all the hype about IT a year ago. BTW, how fast does IT go? It would have to go very fast to replace cars.
DashRendar Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 well the one on GMA could go 12 mph but he said there are some that could go faster and the way he said seemed to hint that there were some that could go A LOT faster
darthfergie Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 I saw a special on that just the other day...it is just like an electric scooter exept more comfortable...maybe... Anyway I havn't ever tapped into the scooter rage that is going around...I just laugh at it...

Anyways, i wouldn't think that you could safely go very fast on something like that. I think that it would be hard enough to balance on in the first place.
DashRendar Posted December 4, 2001 Posted December 4, 2001 well from what I've heard its self balancing so its more like a skateboard than a scooter
Guest SlashAndBurn Posted December 5, 2001 Posted December 5, 2001 I saw the Daily Shows little review of IT. Man that was funny. They showed the founder of Apple saying that it would revolutionize travel and whole cities would be redesigned to make it easier to use.....I think the inventor is a Sith and is using mind tricks to make everyone think that piece of junk is good. He was saying it was good bargain a $3000....
Jedi_Knight Posted December 5, 2001 Posted December 5, 2001 how would you transport more than one person around in that:confused:
