Top Game Soundtracks

Since videogame music varies greatly, these are all special to me in different ways, so there is just no way I can put them in any kind of order. So here they are in no particular order:

Tenchu:Stealth Assasins (PS)

Xenogears (PS)

Castlevania:Symphony of the Night (PS)

Chrono Cross (PS)

Final Fantasy Tactics (PS)

Threads of Fate (PS)

Vagrant Story (PS)

System Shock 2 (PC)

Deus Ex (PC)

Zork:Nemesis (PC)

Ecco the Dolphin Defender of the Future (DC)

I should also add Jedi Knight to that list but I didn't because I consider it John Williams, not game music. However, I thought the guys who mixed the tracks up for Jedi Knight did a superb job. The tracks are all the same ol' John Williams we know and love, yet somehow they are completely different.

Anyway, I would like to hear your favorite soundtracks to see if I missed any good ones.:)

I've just realised this is a tad difficult for me to answer...because I mostly play games with the music turned right down, or off completely. Nevertheless, here are a few that stick in my mind...

1. Outcast (not JK related ;) ) - they used a proper orchestra/choir etc, and it was just so cinematic, and added greatly to the game's atmosphere.

2. Jedi Knight (I don't care if it's mostly Williams' music...it's still great).

3. Quake - some really weird (but cool) stuff to go with the weird nightmare levels...

4. Rune - they managed to capture the Viking feel very well in that soundtrack...

5. Unreal - very atmospheric music, and always recognisable.

ahhh yes almost puts u to sleep...until some stupid bird starts attacking you in the atmospheric landscapes.....

Unreal music was great ,but the stupid format in whitch was delivered (.it) kinda ruined it for me. I also hated those techno tracks :bdroid1:

Reguardless ,the game itself was more than enought to knock you unconscious ,sheer boredom ,whitch was a pity for the game was incredibly beatiful (and i don't mean just for the grahpics ,some of the scenery would have looked and felt gorgeous with the Quake2 engine).

Wow man, Unreal was boring? Hmm, I guess you have to play through the game Co-operatively like me and my bud. I never played it alone.

Even so the game was clearly far from finished ,titles like JK and Hexen II danced circles around Unreal.

Even Quake II was received better ,and that says a lot :)

Thank god they handed the sequel to Legend :jawa

yes, the outlaws soundtrack was amazing.... and speaking of quake, was that all NIN stuff? so it had to be good right? or did NIN do Q2, and Zombie did Q1, arg, i dunno, its 3:40 in the morning, i cant think now dammit!!! anway, off to count sheep...

Trent Reznor did the sound track for Quake 1 ,whitch wasn't that good if you ask me .people speak of art of landascaping but i thought a action game needed something more than that ,at least during fights.

Quake 2 music was done by a non too famious band whitch name i can't recall right now ,only one song was written by Zombie (i think it's the one you ear in the very firt level).

The way they tried to blend both types of music in Quake3 was interesting ,but the result failed miserably ,Quake3 sounds track sucked huge time ,just like the game :)
