Ttam legacy
Well, I'm still haveing Freeze problems on my system. Specs are: AMD 1.2Mhz SoundBlaster Live GeForce 2 GTS/Pro 64MB DDR 512 MB SDRAM DET 23.11 drivers WIN XP/Pro I've changed drivers 4 times and still get random freezes with sound looping. Here's something funny though. I installed the game on my other system.....Specs are: Pentium Celeron 500Mhz 256MB SDRAM Creative Soundblaster 16 Creative Labs 3D Annhilator GeForce 256 vid card WIN 98 SE and the damn thing runs great!!! :lol Not a single freakin freeze!! It's great for dueling but awful for large areas as the graphics card is way underpar for this game, but it works. So it's either an issue with the SB LIVE!, DET drivers or XP possibly?? PLEASE RAVEN TELL US IF YOUR WORKING ON THIS PROBLEM.
Phenoman
I use win 2000 and got the same probs, so it cant be a xp issue....it must have something to do with the soundblaster live! or the detonators...
mikroba
Greetings! Well...I have similar problems now. Previously i had a few problems with the rendered cinematics, these were stuttering and choppy at all. But the levels were running correctly (in 1024x768 medium settings) - but I had horrible 10 minutes of loading time when I reloaded a saved game (new game started within 30 seconds). To solve the problems I donloaded the new driver for my graphics chipset. It was relatively ne, and its solution targeted an issue with the ST: Elite Force game. Wow, I tought this will be a dream come true... I was wrong. Since then, I can play 3-4 seconds, then the game freezes and you can only restart your computer - but rendered cinematics are running perfectly, and reload times are within 30-90 seconds. My system is not a "pronounced" gaming machine, but until this time almost everything (Wolfenstein, Elite Force) just performed perfectly, and until the ne drivers, Jedi Knight 2 was enjoyable (except:no cinematics, and horrible loading times) My system: IBM ThinkPad T20 PIII 750 128MB S3 SavageIX 8MB Well, it sounds low, but it can handle almost every game with surprising performance (MOHAA demo didn't started, but Wolfenstein runs perfectly) Do anyoune has some ideas hat to do until the first patch hopefully arrives? Help us Raven Kenobi your patch is our only hope...

Avernus
Recap of my specs: Athlon 650 192MB SDRAM Hercules Prophet DVI/DDR(GeForce 256 w 32MB) SB Live Value Windows ME DirectX 8.1 Various Video drvs(including the recommended 23.11) When I first installed the game I was running latest Hercules gfx drivers, and got to level 3 before the -jk2sp.exe crash to desktop with funky gamma thing got me. Since then, trying different drivers and options and reinstalling the game has gotten me the following errors: 1-jk2sp.exe error msg crash to desktop with gamma 2-crashes to desktop with no error msg 3-total freezes requiring cold reboot-in menus, sp, and mp 4-freezes with sound loop in menus, sp, and mp With each new install of the game or driver change, the nature of the crashes/freezes change but they never go away. Currently I'm running the nVidia 2311 drivers and getting freeze with sound loop after 10-15 min in sp or mp. I have also filled out the tech help form as lucasarts.com and gotten no reply. If anybody hasn't contacted lucasarts support directly yet, do it and maybe increase the pressure for a patch.
white_lancer
ZJX2172, your problem appears to differ from ours, so I will not add you to the list. Here are my test results: Reinstalled 28.32 detonator driver set Removed GeForce 3 Replaced GeForce 2 MX Restarted computer As Windows 98 started, it immediately asked to restart, I agreed On startup, prompted for drivers for "new" monitor, I agreed, drivers found I started Jedi Outcast up, set display settings to fastest with GL Extentions on, started a game on Padawan Able to walk up to stormtroopers, crashed as they were in their second line of dialogue I reinstalled the 28.32 set Retried the game, it locked as I was changing mouse to inverted (my habit) Changed Desktop from 1024 to 800 (kept colors at 16 bit) Retried game, turned GL Extentions off, changed res to 800, started a new game, it locked before i could rush the stormies This GeForce 2 card is not the card from the computer that was able to run Jedi Outcast; it was an old card. Tomorrow I will try the card from the computer that was able to run JO in my computer.
panikinanakin
I'm impressed white_lancer... to update my situation, I went from nvidia driver ver. 27.50 (from Creative's website) to ver. 6.50 (also from Creative's website). I know it's an old driver but my freezing supposedly stopped. I'll play again tonight to see if my claim stands... in the meantime, anyone dare to try this older version of the nvidia driver (6.50) ? panikinanakin
Well, after about 2.5 to 3 hrs. of playing JO I froze twice with the looping sound. The 6.50 nvidia drivers at least let me play for a while before any freezing, but the freezing is still there. This is the only game that freezing happens in. I can live with my situation right now, but I'm hoping raven/lucasarts might be able to do something codewise (i.e. a patch) that would make it so I won't worry about my game freezing at all. For those that have Geforce2 cards, I hope my results may help you at least be able to play JO. It is pretty awesome
Lemmy
I had problems from the beginning with freezing. I was able to open the the language-selection which after I selected English and then it frozed. Every time. Only hard-booting helped. I reinstalled newest detonator-drivers and tried again. It frozed. Only hard-booting helped. Then I changed my desktop-settings from 1024x768 32-bit to 800x600 32-bit (cause installing with 16-bit and then changing to 32-bit causes problems) and tried again. No problems. Installation worked fine. Then I changed desktop-settings back to 1024x768 32-bit and started the game-play with 800-600 with highest details. No problem. Also with my system (Athlon 1Gb, 256Mb, GF2MX200, SB-128, Win98SE) after intro-video is ready and the game-mode begins, the pic and the sound goes very near of crashing for one second and then continues without any problems. Ttam legacy
Ok. My GeForce 2 Pro/GTS is a powercolor card, so, I went and downloaded thier latest drives for my card. I was able to play at least 2 times longer then before but it sill froze with the sound looping. I've tried every freaking video driver known to man for this card and it still does not work. I'm starting to think that this is a sound card issue. Almost everyone in the list is running either a SB LIVE! or Audiology or some other card made by creative. I sure wish RAVEN would at least acknowledge the existence of this thread with a "We know about the problem" or "were working on a fix for the patch" or SOMETHING. jasho
Maybe some of you have seen my other threads, but basically it is the same problem with crashing to the desktop with an error box and gamma problems. The funny thing, is that a couple of other games I own (Retrun to Castle Wolfenstein, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002) worked fine until I installed JO. Once I installed JO, I started to get these errors not only in JO, but also in the other games as well. I uninstalled JO, re-installed SP2 for Windows 2000, DirectX, nVidia 28.32, Sound Blaster Audigy drivers from Creative, and VIA 4.38. I only tested RTCW for about 30 min intervals, but it seemed to work without crashing. This is only for 30 mins, I have not played long enough to actually test this. I also re-installed JO and it runs fine for 30 mins. If I get the chance to, I will try extensive testing and let you all know how long I can go without crashing. The thing that got me curious, was the fact that my other games were crashing as well with the same problem. This lead me to think that maybe it was something to do with drivers or the OS itself. Sometimes I would get the error saying that it could not process the working memory. I still wish that Raven/LEC would look into these freezes and possibly a patch, but it still would not explain why the other games froze as well unless JO installed or did something to the system or system registry. Any ideas anyone? Thanks for being patient and reading all this! P.S. There are leaked/beta drivers for the nVidia Detonator series version 28.35. I have not yet tested these drivers so if someone could, that would be great. You can get them from http://www.nvplanet.com or http://www.guru3d.com or http://www.abitboy.com. I also installed the GeForce Tweak Utility so maybe a little tweaking may fix some problems. mr_mcdylan
Add my name to the 'frustrated with game freezing' list. My stats seem to be the same as everyone except for the graphics card. Specs: Athlon 900 ATI Rage Fury Pro (32mb) VIA sound card (on motherboard) 320 mb Ram Win 98 SE DirectX 8.1 -all updated drivers and such, even for my Logitech Wheel Mouse. Morgon
I'm having the same type of problem. This is pretty much the first game thatI've bought brand-new as soon as it came out, shelled out $55 bucks for it, and it won't run. I can start it up and begin to play it, but the game will freeze at random (I've never gotten more than 5-10 mins into the game). It will just lock up and do the sound loop. I tried the multiplayer, and it can't get past the loading of the level. Right now I'd be happy to just skip to the next level and see if this is an isolated incident (as in freezing just at this spot). Anyone know where I can find a list of level names so I can jump to the next level? Thanks. Or even better, tell me what the hell is making our computers mess up this bad. Maybe a patch will fix this.... I am having a similar problem with freezing at a certain spot. I have all the latest drivers and DX 8.1. I get to the point where I am on the Artus Topside and if I look at a AT-ST for more than a second or two my machine freezes up on me. If I hit ctrl-alt-del. I see the Windows Security options but the buttons do not work and I have to hard boot the machine to bring it back up. I turned all of my video settings in the game down to low and it allowed me to get a little further into the level so now I freeze at the appearance of the third AT-ST. The only thing I have not tried is turning off the GL extensions. I am not a heavy duty gamer but I have been enjoying this one so far and it is very frustrating. I will be trying that tonight.
