I dont know if I've even played 10 FPS games. Here's a few I would put on my top 10.

Not in any order cause it would take too long to figure out which ones I liked better than the others.

1. JK2

2. Deus Ex

3. Ghost Recon

4. Clive Barkers Undying

5. Rainbow Six series

6. Doom series

7. Duke Nukem series

8. Dark Forces series

9. Half Life

How bout that, I came up one short. Actually it's a few more than 10 since there were 2 Dooms, 2 DF games, etc.

in a vague order (it would take too damn long to figure the exact one out):

  1. Jedi Knight II
  2. Half-Life (to be precise: Action Half-Life)
  3. Deus Ex
  4. Jedi Knight I (+Mysteries of the Sith)
  5. Serious Sam (let's get serious!)
  6. System Shock II (the game rox, the grafic sux :/)
  7. Thief II (if you can call that a FPS)
  8. Aliens VS. Predator
  9. Quake III
  10. Doom I/II

on second thought... i think this is indeed the exact order

This is completely a 'Single Player' perspective.

1. Jedi Knight II

2. JK1 & MotS (I bought them as a set, and play them that way)

3. Dark Forces

4. Duke Nukem 3D

5. Castle Wolfenstein 3D

6. Return to Castle Wolfenstein

7. Medal of Honor Allied Assault

8. Star Trek Voyager Elite Force

9. Quake

10. Doom I & II

Deus Ex I didn't care enough about from the demo to buy,

Half-Life never grabbed me ... I played and played, but never cared. I tried, I really tried ...

SoF was fun, but only as an outlet for locational damage and gore - when it came time to battle the 'boss' I was thinking 'who cares'.

Quake 2 lost me at some point ... I got pretty far into it, but just stopped wanting to play.

Unreal Tournament was novel for a bit, but mainly for the graphics. Killing bots in a confined map bores the heck out of me.

Quake III I bought a few months ago because the 'Gold' version was so cheap, and I wanted to see the Q3TA engine.

Not in any particular order:

Wolfenstein 3d (the granddaddy of them all)

Doom/Doom2

Justin Fisher's Aliens Mod for Doom 2

Quake/Quake2

Half-Life/Team Fortress Classic

Aliens Vs Predator 2

Dark Forces

Dark Forces 2 Jedi Knight

Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast

Medal of Honor

Although Justin Fisher's mod was not a game by itself, but it sure felt like one. Don't play that mod at night in the dark...

Im suprised that System Shock II didn't make more lists. I really thought that game was excellent. It had more flavor than... something that is really flavorful. Which is to say it had A LOT. I mean... if you were to rate it on a scale of one to ten... one being the most flavor .... thing... you can imagine then SSII is like... a solid four.

Seriously though... I thought it was great. Lovely, creepy atmosphere... and nice character customability for an FPS.

And Deus Ex... liked it because you could take several approaches to the same problem and they would all work out.

I have System Shock 2 but it never really grabbed me. Sure it's more or less the same as Deus Ex, my #1 choice. but I prefer my games to be a bit more realistic, and Deus Ex was a more realistic RPG/FPS at the time so I played that and SS2 was relegated to the attic. May dig it up actually....

Hmmm....

So many choices....

In no order really...

Deus Ex

System Shock 1 and 2

Rise of the Triad

Duke Nukem 3D

Doom 1 and 2

Quake

Jedi Knight 1 and 2

Unreal

Thief 1 & 2 (I miss Looking Glass Studios. )

Tribes 1 and 2

All exceptional groundbreaking games in their own rights.

Whoops! S.h1t O.utta L.uck=SOL. Yeah, it was sprite based but there was some actual rendering being done as well. But it was an incredible game. It was scary as hell. You really can't find it anymore, which is a pity. It was along the lines of Ultima: Underworld. Which was also a FPS type of game. Sprite based but still well done and years ahead in technology of anyone else at the time.

There are probably too many for me to count...but my top 10 would have to be...

1. Jedi Outcast / Jedi Knight (there are pros and cons to each, so I can't put one before the other)

2. Return To Castle Wolfenstein

3. Deus Ex

4. Half Life

5. Unreal

6. No One Lives Forever

7. Aliens v Predator (haven't played #2 yet...)

8. Soldier Of Fortune

9. Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force

10. Clive Barker's Undying

Subject to change without notice. :)

System Shock 2

AvP2

Deus Ex (didn't like it all at first, came back about six months later and loved it)

As you see I prefer darker, more atmospheric games then plain old shootem ups.

Picking my top ten favorites would be tough, I don't play enough FPSs to even own that many.
