I know that we all love Star Wars. I also know that there are many of us that enjoy other fantasy stories, such as a certain saga involving a particular piece of hand jewelry. So, who do you think would win?:D

No offence to die hard LOTR rings fans, I love LOTR too but Sauron would have no chance whatsoever against Sidious, If the lightning doesn't get him, Sidious will just slice and dice him with the saber without even breaking a sweat.

He would of done what he did to Gandalf look like a gentle hit on the shoulder. Sidiouse would just throw Sauron high up into the sky or possible into orbit. And the Force Lightining would just turn him into toast.

That was Saruman(not sure on the spelling), Sauron is the Big guy at the beginning, the one that had his Ring finger cut off by Isiador(Again, not sure on the spelling). Either opponent, Sidious wins no problem, Ring or no Ring, IMHO.

Yeah, I agree. If Sauron is able to concentrate his power via the Ring, it would be a tough battle. I believe that ultimately, Sidious would prevail.:)

as for sauron, he is like seen in the movie, much more mortal.

Sauron and Saruman are both Miar... they're the angels in Tolkien's world. Saruman was sent by the Valar (archangels) for a specific purpose, to keep an eye on Sauron, and therefore he doesn't have as much power... Sauron has his full abilities, he's a demon, a fallen angel. As powerful as Sidious is, he's still mortal, he's still restricted by what he sees as possible and impossible and therfore cannot use the Force to its full extent. Saruman can die, but only because he's assumed a mortal shell... if the shell were destroyed, he would return to the Golden Halls. Sauron can only be destroyed by destroying the Ring because he's poured his whole essence into it. Sidious can die from anything that would kill a normal human.

With humans, the Force is something learned, with the Miar... well... they're virtually MADE OF their brand of magic which is almost exactly like the Force. Force against Illuvitar, they're the same thing. Human vs. cellestial being... I'm gonna have to side with Lord of the Rings, here.

Jedi Monk, I would love to see the library in your home.:D

Isildur taking Sauron was nothing more than pure luck, in my opinion. Sauron reached down, no doubt thinking that the knight was defeated, and in a desparate lunge, Isildur took the ring from Sauron's hand.

*COUGH*. . .resembles another scenario I can think of.:D

Now that is certainly something to contemplate.:)

You shoulda put the "I dont know" option. To be honest I have no idea who would win. Saurons got that cool septer and hes 3 meters tall but Sidious has that lightning. I dont know of any combat powers Sauron has himself besides his physical strangth and his septer. And well Sidious has the Force. Sauron cant do much himself as a spirit besides see everything. So now that I think about it I think Sidious would win. Ya Sidious. Hes got the Force.:D I mean Sauron cant shoot lightning or move things with his mind can he? And how fast do you really think he could move? Ya its Sidous.:lightning

I'm gonna go with Sideous......primarily because I don't know who in the hell the other guy is......

I think I'm the only person on these boards who hasn't seen LOTR  oh well...

That and the fact we know Vader was afraid of him.

I think Sideous must be one bad dude. Hopefully in EP3 we will get to see him in action other than using force lightning.
