Turok Evolution ehehehe

i liked it, it's awesome. only, S1 accidentally kicked the ps2 over, causing it to screw up. but it's VERY VERY VERY VEERRRRRRRRRY HARD!!!!!!! hehe there's like 15 chapters, and each chapter has like 3 stages, we got stuck in stage 2 of chapter 3. there's alot of blood, the intro is funny, multiplayer is awesome, the only thing that seemed to be holding the game back was the PS2. hopefully it's less 'laggy' in mp, mp wasn't THAT laggy, but when u kill someone, it freezes for like a split second, which is an eternity to me. hehe ummmm....the graphics are pretty nice, u can see far, the only things i found wrong with the game were:

a bit too linear, but it didn't really matter to me since the levels were massive.

You get no lives. If you die, you start from beginning of stage. Made it VERY frustrating, expect to cry. :p

You can walk 'through' some of the bigger enemies.

Invincibility code doesn't really work, u can lose health when u jump from high places.

The controls are friggen backwards. i thought i'd get to at LEAST change them, the left analog controls movement, and the right analog controls aiming, it took me forever to get used to. i wish they would've kept the controls the way they were on n64.

The enemies were pretty impressive, u can shoot the gun out of their hands, they'll then surrender, then u can go up behind them and execute them. hehe There's a poison arrow that will make them puke their guts out, best death animation. :D there's also alot of blood. option to turn the blood and gore off if u don't like it.

Graphically, it's not as good as halo, but i've never really been one to complain about graphics. The ai can be annoying, like when the sleg tries to run away, he might get stuck on a texture, running in place.......

well, as u can tell, there's a few things wrong with it, but that won't stop me from buying it at full price.

You can walk 'through' some of the bigger enemies.

o.O Come again?

Invincibility code doesn't really work, u can lose health when u jump from high places.

Ahahahaha :D

Is this with the PS2 itself, or just Turok?

How handy ^_~

Well...correct me if I'm wrong but that would just make him a sitting duck right? Or...is that a bad thing?

it's a glitch (the running in place thing) which makes it a bad thing, for the enemy.

umm. the walking through the dinosaurs meant on some, u can sorta walk 'through' them, kindof like hiow u can walk through a weapon once u have all ammo for it.

i HOPE it's just the controls on the ps2...

also, check out this game

http://www.bigbluebox.com it's going to be better than turok, and better than halo. :D

Robotech:BattleCry. (PS2

For all of those whom are too damned young to remember, there was a series in the late 80's early 90s caled Robotech. The first true Giant Transforming Robot anime. well, US made. legal issues kept Marcross (The Original Series from japan which inspired Robotech, and used almost everything from that universe, inc. the story line) from coming over here to teh States directly, instead, we got a half-assed ripped apart version. oh well.

But if you DO remember, it did, and still DOES kick heavy amounts of ass.from the f-14 like Veritechs, to the massive "Marcross/Robotech Missile Attack" (think 90+ missles being fired at once, then streaming and convergin' on ONE target... hehe) it's been a gamers dream.

Until now.

Enter Robotech:BattleCry, the newest forray into the Giant Fighting Robot Genre. based on the series, it follows a guy named Jack Archer, a member of the RObotech Defense Force (RDF) and follows the series quite well... at least in the beginning. :) It goes off and puts jack into a precarious position against the Zentradi, and follows as he tries to save the day.

Gameplay wise, if you ever watched the series, take than, but put yourself at the controls. same thing. from the "Marcross Missile Attack" to gunning down missles in the Battloid mode, it's all there. Even the animations and sounds are fairly close to the original series. good stuff. The controls are tight, responsive, and easy to learn.

Graphically, the cell shading realy does capture the essance of the original series, making it look somewhat better than the old 80's episodes, getting no complaints from me.

One gripe is the sound. there's a few sound glitches, sound cuts out, like the voices, or the boost sound effects, music speeds up, or slows down, ectt..... but hey, minor bugs.

And the 1v1 mode for multiplayer is laggy. not to the point of unplayability, but laggy to make a noticable different. and much of MP you have to unlock doing the Story mode, which at times is exceedingly difficult.

Summary:

Great game, well made. small sound bugs, mildy steep learning curve (Changes between the three mode of the Veritech must be made QUICKLY. Change or Die. :)) and the extream difficulty of the game drop the score, but overall, a great pick. will take more than a eekend to beat, which is great for me, because games were to easy up to this one. :)

Overall score: 8.1
