sorry, i'm forced to disagree.

The 3 times i have saw them live, and the countless live videos i have saw, he has never "stood there" playing his geetar.

He jumped around stage, sprayed the crowd with water pistols, got down to his leopardskin thong (umm well i though it was funny)

He always invites kids up onstage to play, and has great interaction with the crowd.

And it is my belief that he has written the most memorable punk anthems ever, and continues to plug out great tunes.

I will never deny the greatness of any of the artists you mentioned, nor countless other lead singers, but he takes the cake for me.

I agree w/ NerfYoda, Freddie Mercury is up there...as is OZZY!! Also can't overlook Clapton :) (also, I voted for Serj from System of a Down b/c he can just go wickedly fast)

now for non-rock and roll, Gordon Lightfoot has an amazing voice...happy and upbeat in one song and then cut-to-the-bone sad in the next (he's a folk-sy artist, but has some really amazing songs)

Ringo sang "With a Little Help From My Friends" one of the best Beatles songs by far. He has done some really good solo stuff as well.

yeah like thomas the tank, "hello thomas" said the fat controller

:D

only joking!

he also sang yellow submarine, which is of course a classic

you tellin me none of those are anthems for the nu-punk generation?

ok, i realize we have differing opinions, we should end this here so's to stay on topic. :)

Woohoo punk genres clash yet again! I consider punk "anthems" to be songs like Sham69's "If the kids are united", the DK's "Nazi Punks F*uck Off" and OpIvy's "Unity". Damn you new school fools. :p

We now return you to our thread currently in progress. :D
