I just wanted to see which of the four Dark Forces games everyone likes best.

And apparently there is an unwritten rule that Yoda must be inluded in every poll... :eyeraise:

Personally, I say Jedi Knight. It had the best story, the light/dark options were awesome, the levels rocked, it was balanced, fun, it had good graphics for its time, and it's the first game ever to let you use a lightsaber.

Which do YOU like?

i say a tie between jediknight and JO,

as i love the option of being a sith and the two different endings and the story was great. but the graphics in jo are much better, you're got a round head! yeah i know jediknight had amazing graphics at the time.

Like Sivy B...for me it's a tie between Jedi Knight and Jedi Outcast. They both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Mind you, with all the great mods in the works (such as the conversions of the previous games in the series) that will tip the balance in JO's favour.

Those mod teams are doing some excellent work. *applauds*

JK: DF2.

No contest, really, though I'm sad to say it :(

I hope JK3 is more like the original in spirit (of course I like the eye candy in JKII, but that alone doesn't make the game a classic, unfortunately :()

-Edit-

And of course, we must have Jason Court back for proper live-action cutscenes ^__^

Hiya Wacky! :wavey:

I have a new perspective on cut scenes...ditch them...all of them. If they're going to be rendered in the game engine anyway (which seems to be the way things are going), then it seems pointless to me taking control away from the player. Other games manage to impart information to you via NPC conversations while still leaving you in control of your character, and frankly I'd rather walk around, look out a virtual window onto a virtual landscape, or fiddle with items lying around while listening to the conversation. Also, they're usually more seamless, and the game doesn't pause while the cut scene loads.

The only place I can see cut scenes being needed is showing vehicles en route to a destination...the rest can be done with careful scripting.

Hi Stormy :D

Turn ICQ on, or get AIM/YIM/MSN - then I can pester you :D;)

But there's something so... Human about them that makes you feel closer to the game... Well, me, at least... :D

(And are you feeling all right, mate? ..."Ditch ALL of them"??! O.o)

Hmmm... I can see where you're coming from, and i agree, for the most part...

True - that is good...

I suppose with the new generation of engines that are coming out (eg DOOM3), the in-game stuff will look that much better, and not like some cheap horror flick (eg the horrible eyes in JKII)... Time will tell, but I think it likely that the cutscene will be superceded... :( ...Oh well, that's progress for ya :D
