Darth Groovy
First of all I did not vote this year. I tried watching the debate, and all I saw were grown adults talking louder and talking over each other and saying things like calling Lisa Madigan(Illinois) "daddy's girl" and crap like this. I've no respect for any of the candidates this year. They used propaganda commercials to epic proportions. New this year they used automated calling systems. So it's around 6 or 7pm and I get a call, and its a recorded message of Lisa Madigan saying "Vote for me and I will (insert empty promise here)!". Yesterday at work we had recieved in eccess, at least 15 of those recorded messages from assorted candidates, all from the same area code. All recorded messages mind you! Then to top that off day of the election 2002, I just got off work and was checking my email before I hit the sack and somebody rings the doorbell. I go downstairs and nobody is there, however, there is a Rod Blagovavich(spell?) flyer on the door handle. I was so mad I ran out into the front yard and saw this turkey driving down the street ringing doorbells and putting flyers all over the place, yelled and obscenetity and told him this was private property and I'm calling the police. After that, that was the last straw, I didnt vote for anybody. And they wonder why poll turn outs are so low around here. Maybe when these politicians start acting like grown ups I'll pay more attention, and get more involved. Maybe I should just move to a different state, or a another country! Do any of have this same problem?

Jah Warrior
lol, noticed this anyone? in the last couple of weeks bushy hasnt said anything about iraq? do you think this could be that it would jeopardize republican votes? yer damn straight it would. if invading iraq was what the american people wanted, surely he wouldnt have been frighteneed of mentioning it during this campaign season. The onlything this dude cares about is keeping the republicans and himself in power. I am certain he doesnt give a damn about anyone else... he is WAY more dangerous than some tin pot dictator on the other side of the world. Trust me it will be Bush that is is blamed for WW3 not saddam.
Taos
I didn't vote this year either Groovy! I get so tired of the campaign bashing the commercials.......it's not a question to me why more ppl don't vote- They're sick of the politics! Frankly, I am too..... Guardian Omega
Heheh, I'm not too surprised. If a kid like me could think of similar stuff, think of the actual politicians.....No wonder my parents said I have an evil mind. Still, if I were the average voter, I'd do one thing, a background check.
Ratmjedi
The things that I didn't like about this campaign were that some new guy here in California (Bill Simon) Which is basically a rich boy who just wants to show off to his family that he can be real important. He kept attacking Gray Davis which is the present Governor. Simon is just a idiot like Bush. He had people like Guilany (sp?) (former mayor of New York) indorsing him. Now why would you need a person who lives on the other side of the country telling you to vote for someone he says when he doesen't know what we are all about. Davis has been doing a damn good job here in California and I hope that he stays Governor. I am also a Democrat. So is Davis. I also think that most Republicans are old biggots and just are full of themselves and don't care about the people but just the title. Just like Jah Warrior said. I got to vote twice today because since my parent's don't talk much English and really don't understand the politics I got to tell them what to vote for and who to vote for. I felt good but I hope that the majority of the people in the country are smart and vote for what is good and not for what their political party want's them to vote on. I think that it should be about issues and not about what some person did. We are electing officials into a office based on there job performance and not their personal life. People just need to stop playing dirty and just do what is right.

Ratmjedi
I just hope that if he decides to invade Iraq that he does it correctly. All I know is that Bush can't start WW III because Suddam is rumored to only have a Nuclear missle that can only travel 86 Miles or those are his capabilities at least and that is going to be a crude missle because he still does not have enough weapons grade plutonium . I think that he will rely more on his biological and chemical weapons more. But if Bush does decide to attack he better do it smartly and not waste Americans lives because of some half a$$ plan. He better make some good plans and have some backing if we go in.

Jah Warrior
its a bit off topic but it relates to my previous post so... Bush wants saddam not to have nuclear weapons? OK well does that mean the US has no Nukes? Why should Bush and UK have them? Look we all know Hussein is a dipstick but so are Bush and Blair. I dont think any of them are competent enough to have a nuclear arsenal at their command, Is anyone? In other words what Bush is saying is that the US should have nukes and not Iraq... Erm hello.... Nobody should have any nukes in my opinion, since coming to power Bush has invaded Afganistan and is hell-bent on invading Iraq, surely this qualifies him as a far greater danger to "human kind" than Saddam Hussein? oh yeah just remembered this:- Poly = many Ticks = Bloodsuckers go figure... Jedi_Monk
I voted today for the first time, and while the rest of the country seems to have screwed us all over by getting rid of the checks and balances, the Illinois State Government has become almost completely Democrat. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State... and last I'd heard, the State Treasurer and State Senate had a good chance of going Democrat, too. I think that the democrats screwed themselves over--or more precisely, our "leadership" screwed the partymembers over. The Base wanted a unified front against the war--out leaders in the House and Senate conceded to the war (which is in no way constitutional, unless we either exit out of the UN Charter or amend the Constitution... but the Supreme Court is in the Republican's fist, so what does that moldy old document matter?). I had to keep down the bile while voting for Blagoyevich, who voted "yes" to the Iraq Resolution, rationalizing like so: Well at least I'll be getting him out of the House... worst thing he can do now is declare war on Indiana. This is a democracy... the people are supposed to be in control here. But there's this trend out there now, of people "not caring" or thinking that they should "let the leaders lead". The latter, as my sig says, is "morally treasonable to to the American public". A democracy can only work when the people are involved--or else it becomes a dictatorship. "The day we stop believing democracy can work, is the day we loose it." Really, I'm scared right now. The Republicans have the Presidency, the Congress, the Senate and the Supreme Court. At best, our economy is going to continue its downward spiral, most likely, we are about to get into World War 3 and the draft is going to be revived. At worst, martial law is declared and the country takes a fascist turn and begins hunting down Catholics (according to a good portion of the Christian Right, Catholics aren't even Christians, anyway), Jews, Liberals and repressing blacks and Hispanics... and it also won't be a good time to be or even look like you're an Arab. The next two years are going to suck, and that's one hell of an understatement.

Tell you what ZDawg, I will start giving Bush props when I get start seeing some people go back to work instead of watching business close down right and left and unions upon unions going on strike. It didnt take long for me to loose my job do to cut backs not too long after his election. I had a really good income, my own place and all my bills and credit were squared away. About a couple of months after he got elected I could barely afford to keep the lights on anymore. I look at things by the end results. I'm just as sick of Saddam as anyone else, but if you want support from the very nation you lead, give them there freaking jobs back and stop preaching about why its a "good thing to let things recess". As soon as G- dubbya does something to impress me, I will stop ragging on him. Oh yeah, one other thing. For the love of all that is holy will you knock off that "leet" crap and speeeeeeeek de english here? I am so sick of that stupid jive talk around here. Give it a rest, eh? I live in CA also and I know they make seperate non English ballots for people who do not speakie de engly that well or at all. You can sell your vote although it is illegal. Simon is an idiot and so is Davis. Simon thinks this is just a big businees and you have to meet the demand of the supply and what not. Little does he know that you cannot fire the poor or stupid kids in the schools to raise test scores. Davis is an idiot because he has promised to do nothing to make ammends for some of the failures his administration has had. He keeps taking away more and more from schools and what is worse spends more money in major well known cities mainly in the South even though we all pay taxes in CA. I did not vote today because as the old saying goes, "Damned if you do, damned if you don't." I hate a system where we have elected people speaking for us when we do not even get to pick the people we get to pick to speak for us. If that made sense bravo. I know that the party picks the rep and we pick the party but when most politicians are bastards and we are screwed no matter who we choose why does that system work? Ummm I am not a Communist. Land of the free my tookus. Why does everything cost so much? BigTeddyPaul I hate politics.

Got you there. I happen to agree with this statement. America seems like it has to act as a Big Brother for all the other countries even when they don't ask for the help. Do you know why Bush keeps threatening with war? One of the reasons is to make the people of this country forget about all the problems here. CagedCrado
This thread has been the dumbest, most one sided, democratic looney house that has ever been. Not only are you wrong about republicans having a death grip on the senate, you are also wrong about the supreme court, it goes abortion or anti abortion and democrats are all pro abortion, sick little fellows you democrats are, california has screwy people in it, i never like what they complain about and they seem so..... uninformed (not talking about you necesarily, but many people in california are like that, maybe bush did cause your problem) there are many problems in california, all generate by who, you guessed it, clinton. if bush was in office a few months, how much could he have done to hurt you when daschle didnt let him do crap? huh? oh thats right he couldnt. I think that bush is a good strong leader, and lets not forget that clinton also had control of the senate and house, and presidency, yet you didnt see any republicans whining like babies, and that my friends, is the difference. FYI most of this is based of factual information, with some personal opinion thrown in, such as maybe you do have problems in california, they are just to extreme for me to notice them as problems and not just whinyness All opinion: I think democrats lost the senate not because of bush, but because of daschle, daschle is a lame wimp who just stops bush from doing his job, and the senate for that matter. This election shows a new and ugly turn for the democrats, a turn that will most likely break there party up pretty badly.
obi
Well, CNN is the devil, and so is MSNBC. They start an endless amount of propaganda. I say that they shouldn't even cover politics, because they are so strongheaded-democratic-liberalists, it makes me mad. And look at us Republicans, laughing at them. It makes no sense for both sides. And America says we are united? I think we all need a nice websters dictionairy to look up the word. (A word about the democrats. I didn't say ALL Of them are strong headed like that, but just the majority of them at CNN. I never said I didn't like democrats either, I just said I do not like the strong-closed headed ones. Don't blast me)
CagedCrado
I agree with obi, the new democrats are idiots (IE daschle), not only that you know that daschle paid people to sign dead people up and vote under the dead persons names in a reservation in south dakota (i think pine ridge) I am not sure if it was daschle, but i know it was one of johnsons supporters. Johnson is a good senator, but people like daschle are idiots. Most new democrats are not really democrats. The last true democrat was Thurman (i think he was north carolinas 100 year old senator.) If i was living in the early 60s, i just might be a democrat, or in ww2 i might have been, but the modern democrats are just too stupid. If there are any classic democrats left, awesome, but the air heads in the senate are just idiots. Hey obi, watch fox news, its more republican. And i agree, CNN shouldnt even cover politics. CNN is way 1 sided. I usually watch both fox and cnn myself, it takes only about 5 minutes a day to watch both and get all the news, so why not? I think me and obi could actually be friends now...... nah
