The EU is an alternate reality from the "reality" portrayed in the movies. An alternate universe where a lot of effed up stuff happens! Fett might be alive in that universe--and they can have him, just like that can have Callista! But as far as the canonical SW universe goes, Fett = Maybe we should start calling it the AU, the Alternate Universe

And hell, if you were going to die in that thing, you'd take it with ya! I would blast a huge hole in that thing, and at least try to escape. Anyway, read expanded universe. He DOES escape!
