Songs that make you think

Dark Warrior

Recommended Posts

I was going to say that how does this song make you think cause there are no lyrics, but I guess it does make you think. I like the song a lot but I haven't listened to it in about a year so I think that I am going to go listen to it right now :)

Edit: Ahhhh this is nice to my ears.

I like that XTC "Dear GOD" song.

Dear god, hope you get the letter and...

I pray you can make it better down here

I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer

But all the people that you made in your image

See them starving in the street

'Cause they don't get enough to eat from god

I can't believe in you

Dear god, sorry to disturb you but...

I feel that I should be heard loud and clear

We all need a big reduction in amount of tears

And all the people that you made in your image

See them fighting in the street

'Cause they can't make opinions meet about god

I can't believe in you

Did you make disease and the diamond blue?

Did you make mankind after we made you?

And the devil too!

Dear god don't know if you noticed but...

Your name is on a lot of quotes in this book

And us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look

And all the people that you made in your image

still believing that junk is true

Well I know it ain't, and so do you

Dear god

I can't believe in

I don't believe

I won't believe in heaven or hell

No saints, no sinners, no devil as well

No pearly gates, no thorny crown

You're always letting us humans down

The wars you bring, the babes you drown

Those lost at sea and never found

And it's the same the whole world 'round

The hurt I see helps to compound

That father, son and holy ghost

Is just somebody's unholy hoax

And if you're up there you'll perceive

That my heart's here upon my sleeve

If there's one thing I don't believe in

It's you

Dear god

Oh and bellow is a line from a They Might Be Giants song.

Beatles

Yesterday

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away

Now it looks as though they're here to stay

Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Suddenly, I'm not half to man I used to be,

There's a shadow hanging over me.

Oh, yesterday came suddenly.

Why she had to go I don't know she woldn't say.

I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday.

Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play.

Now I need a place to hide away.

Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm.

Tupac sings from the heart, that is why. He sings about real-life experiences, racism, how people trat him. He is not afraid to share his views to everyone. And he stands up for himself. One example of this is the song "Changes." I will try to find the lyrics to the song. Acrylic if you have them, please post them thanks.:)

Death

The world is full of death everyone is constantly dieing. There's alawys war, hate, and pestilence....death is consuming us, surrounding us, controlling us, never fearing us. And it's all your fault. You say you wanna banish movies that glamorize this you say you wanna stop it by killin people be it murderers or abortion clinics. Just face it it's all your fault. Parents, adults you say someone hits you you ingnore it well that's a lie we get attacked whatta ya do you retaliat and start a war what for, so you can breed hate? Well that's what you're doin. You punish your kids for fighting back well it's all your fault. You say to ignore but you don't so why should kids, cuz you say so? Well I say SHUT THE **** UP! It's your fault there's war, it's your fault there's hate, it's your fault there's pestillence cuz your stupid ****in GREED! BUT most of all it's your fault that kids are part of IT!

Nice Insane they are pretty good. I like how you focus on aspects of life. It makes you think.:)

Anyways, here the lyrics to "Changes" by Tupac. Also, mods I am not sure if it appropriate to use the word "nigger" when posting a song. I will leave it there for now in the lyrics. If there is a problem, please pm me or post it in this thread. Thanks.

-1-

Come on come on

I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself

is life worth living should I blast myself?

I'm tired of bein' poor & even worse I'm black

my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch

Cops give a damn about a negro

pull the trigger kill a nigga he's a hero

Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares

one less hungry mouth on the welfare

First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal the brothers

give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other

It's time to fight back that's what Huey said

2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead

I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere

unless we share with each other

We gotta start makin' changes

learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers

and that's how it's supposed to be

How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?

I'd love to go back to when we played as kids

but things changed, and that's the way it is

Bridge w/ changing ad libs

Come on come on

That's just the way it is

Things'll never be the same

That's just the way it is

aww yeah

Repeat

-2-

I see no changes all I see is racist faces

misplaced hate makes disgrace to races

We under I wonder what it takes to make this

one better place, let's erase the wasted

Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right

'cause both black and white is smokin' crack tonight

and only time we chill is when we kill each other

it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other

And although it seems heaven sent

We ain't ready, to see a black President, uhh

It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact

the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks

But some things will never change

try to show another way but you stayin' in the dope game

Now tell me what's a mother to do

bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you

You gotta operate the easy way

"I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way

sellin' crack to the kid. " I gotta get paid,"

Well hey, well that's the way it is

Bridge

Talking:

We gotta make a change...

It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.

Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live

and let's change the way we treat each other.

You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do

what we gotta do, to survive.

-3-

And still I see no changes can't a brother get a little peace

It's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East

Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs

so the police can bother me

And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do

But now I'm back with the blacks givin' it back to you

Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up,

crack you up and pimp slap you up

You gotta learn to hold ya own

they get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone

But tell the cops they can't touch this

I don't trust this when they try to rush I bust this

That's the sound of my tool you say it ain't cool

my mama didn't raise no fool

And as long as I stay black I gotta stay strapped

& I never get to lay back

'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the pay backs

some buck that I roughed up way back

comin' back after all these years

rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat that's the way it is uhh

Bridge 'til fade

That's the song at the end of Donnie Darko isn't it?

That's gotta be one of the best song to make me think to, especially the way it was used in the movie.

(strange, I thought it was "the days in which I'm dying")
