Kjølen
Ok I was thinking about saying Microsoft or PCs, but there is no reason why Macs arent Personal Computers, and Microsoft dun hafta be used. Ok whatever, I've come to find that I will have money in 9 months. Sony VAIO laptop or PowerBook G4 (iBook)
Kuuki
Sadly, you'd shoudl stick with windows based mechines, cus thats what your gonna need to do most of the things you can do thats out there... just like about $700 can get you a new and fast puter if you take the time and build it yourself... edlib
I own a couple of Dells, and use Macs at work. I like them both, for different reasons. It really depends what you really want to do with it. There are more games for PC (and I use "PC" as a generic term for "non-Apple IBM Clone") but for just about eveything else you can find software for the Macs. If you are heavy into music production, vid editing, or digital graphic design then the Macs seem to have a very slight edge (although even that's debatable) The new "Jaguar" version of OSX is fast and slicker than hell, and the new Apple web browser Safari is way, WAY cool, as are iTunes and iDVD. But I started out on PCs, so I will stick to PCs at home. Windows has finally become reliable with XP. Macs are so much more expensive too. You can always run most Windows software on the Mac in Virtual PC mode, although I wouldn't recommend that for gaming. So I guess what I'm saying is: If you really have your heart set on a Mac, then get one.
Ne0Max
Do you plan on using the machine more for school/work related stuff?
BCanr2d2
Don't use a laptop, personally I think in most cases a good PDA and a PC do more than an adequate job - depending on what the usage is... Personally, I think the iBooks are better, mainly since they have larger screens on them. Many of them closer to a 16:9 perspective than the 4:3 of the PC laptop mould. Devil Doll
I agree with Scarface, I would save the money for a better computer that I can build (like the one my sis and i built, the one I´m using at this moment) but if you still want a laptop I think the ibook will be better. I use a lot of graphic programs with a friend that has a imac and it´s better than the things I do in my computer

Ok, look around where we are, then guess. As for the VAIO is a waste of plastic, thats desktops. Yes Sony VAIO Desktops are really Plastic computers, but laptops are much better, plus, most laptops have plastic coverings anyways. I dunno about VAIO. And There are still some cool Mac games for Apple computers. Airburst Carbon is an AWESOME game And I'll take heed with all that browser stuff, and I will always get a Mac OS X, but now I know to look out for Jaguar. Thanx, you guys and gals r0x0r. Darth Groovy
Actually about $700 can get you a fully loaded hp pavillion, which is what I use now, and to tell you the truth I am very pleased with it.
Nute Gunray
The HP Pavillion is a place they have concerts and stuff in San Jose, I think. It makes me giggle in ways that shouldn't be legal.
