MysticSpade
for me i mainly play RPG's on consoles. so mine would be in this order 1. Kingdom Hearts 2. Devil May Cry (maybe Devil May Cry 2 will be here as well) 3. Final Fantasy 7 4. Final Fantasy 8 5. Not filled as of yet also- i just bought DMC two days ago and the game is very sweet. i mainly use Ebony & Ivory cuz i prefer "Style over Substance". those who've played DMC will know what i am talkin about. D&D does NOT suck by any means, Neverwinter Nights sucks ass, when i say this i mean...the graphics arent that great, the game engine is awful...bah i couldnt stand playing that game. i think true role playing games lie in the ones when you make up your characters story such as in White Wolf games, and D&D, the REAL D&D

But there are other reall cool RPG's.....and most of them have been listed already, and i'm not in the mood to list.
Katarn07
Yoda Stories is an RPG?! That knocks Zelda and Pokemon down. I loved that game. Wish I still had it.
Darklighter
The Final Fantasies are the best RPGs you can buy. FF8 is my all-time fave. It has the best characters, most involving plot and the most enjoyable gameplay out of the whole series. FFX comes in close second:D

I've played and beaten FFX like 3 times now, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Breton
Well, I love FF8 too, but the FF series just isn't RPG. You can't really change the character or the story to what you want, and that is what makes an RPG an RPG. FF is more like an adventure-action game. So I am afraid the Final Fantasy series doesn't belong too well in an RPG discussion.

I know RPGs have talking, but he just kept hitting the x button (or whichever it is...) and I had no clue what was happening. I never saw him level up or anything. Tyrion
Originally posted by AcrylicGuitar Do you take drugs? Of course its an RPG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, actually, it's wierd to call it an RPG. It stands for Role Playing Game. In real terms,it's means that it's a character that you creat for yourself, that you set it on a non-linear path or so. However, for genre option,it means any game where you collect items and level up(Warcraft III is an example of that,it's a Role-Playing Strategic Game, since your heros level up and collect items..). Quake could be a RPG,in a dumbed-down sense, since you are taking the role of a character... I'd give the Final Fantasy's it's own genre, ATG( Adventure Turn-based Game) As for my list: 1. Morrowind(Sheer freedom, more than you can ever imagine. It's been over a month or two already, and I havent even gone through the half island, just because of the vastness and non-linearness of it). 2. Neverwinter Nights(not excactly the game itself, but for it's abilities to allow persistant worlds to role-play in, the Single Player sucked). 3. Final Fantasy VII(Abliet, I dont consider Final Fantasy an RPG,but I think it deserves a spot on here). 4. Baldur's Gate 2(One of the best Roleplaying Multi-member games ever to date). 5. Final Fantasy Tactics(It's a good game, same reason as FFVII). 6. Icewind Dale(it's a good hack n' slash, but I'd hardly qualify it as an RPG..). Katarn07
Stories and characters make the game for me. Which one has a girl named, 'Quistess' She is an inside joke with me and my friends. I've seen that one played. Pretty sure it was 8.
