Episode 3:Uh-oh

I read an interview just a couple of weeks ago that put some of my worries to bed. Lucas said that he was going to try to cut back on the amount of special effects used in Episode III. He also said, now this is the interesting part, that once we saw Episode III it would completely change how we viewed the rest of the prequel trilogy. He stated that he knew he'd lost quite a lot of fans due to Episode I/II, and that they'd just have to trust him and that it'd all make sense come Episode III.

I'll try and trust him, and let's hope once I've seen Episode III I'll have more tolerance for Episode I and II, 'cause let's face it, they just aren't in the same league as the classic trilogy. At least not now, anyway :p

I'll try and find a link to that interview for those that wish to read it.

I'm putting my faith in George Lucas this one last time, and I sincerely hope he'll get everything just right for the final prequel. I trust he'll pick out, condense and include all the relevant information for Episode 3. I also don't think he'll need to rely purely on special effects this time to make the movie look good, not like Episode 2. I'm mainly looking forward to Anakin and Obi-wan's duel:D

After all, AOTC bucked the 2 and bit hour trend, it was 141 minutes, closer to 2 1/2 hrs........

Anyway, the thing with the prequels is that they have to show how the Republic came down, and you had to know it was going to be something political, which isn't what people like to think of in a SW movie. Agreed that GL did make them a bit of a visual feast to the eye, but it is his vision, and he liked it grand, just never had the freedom and budget to be able to do it.

Also IMO too many people expect GL to deliver a clear answer to things in the movies, if you watch the first two movies with the originals in mind, many more things in the movies are more significant than you think. So much of it is the original movies, but with usually a different outcome to almost the same situation, showing how similar Anakin and Luke are, and it was their choices that made them the way they were.

From all reports Ep 3 will still leave about a 20 year gap to ANH, so not everything is going to be told, but you would hope what was mentioned in I think the ROTJ novel is what we get to see (I wont tell those that don't know what is mentioned there). I would also hope, or assume, it is more of an Anakin-centric movie, that shows his slide into DV's suit.

There are so many things we know must happen, but it is whether they are placed into the movie. So many who knew LOTR were disappointed with TTT since it changed what was expected from the book, and changed the significance of certain events....
