Tesla
Well in the uk we don't have signs everywere and people don't really talk about it alot but on the news you do get the report if someone died etc but most news seems to be on the isreal-palestinian events (sorry for going off topic there), but an expert in the uk said that it would die down during the summer and probarly return in winter when a lot of people with have flu or the commen cold could devlop into sars most likely in the asian region which is gonna be bad
BCanr2d2
If SARS was half as infectious as they thought it originally to be, then the death toll would be in the 10's of thousands, and not something as little as 500-ish. Consider that if someone has the flu on a plane, most of the plane will get it, with SARS its very much close contact that spreads it.. A lot of hysteria personally.. It's a case of being very careful and it will not affect your country. Here in Australia we haven't had a single case, and I hope it stays that way. Tesla
Well the countries infected were china and other countries in the asia region and they put some strict laws in preventing people from leaving/arriving the countries and those who had it in 1 country can't remember what the name is were put in confienment so others could not catch it thuse lowing the risk of infection to others that is why i didn't spread completly globally. Solbe M'ko
I live in Edmonton, so we don't have signs around or anything, but you have to look at this thing realistically. Most of the people who have died from SARS were either old people, who a cold or flu could have done in, or sick people, who a cold or flu could have done in. This BS about people selling masks outside Toronto airports is what's making everyone edgy.
Breton
I do think it's being pretty blown up. A disease with 3-5% deadliness and a cure soon to come shouldn't worry many outside of the infected areas.
ZBomber
I think its getting annoying. This is why I have stopped watching the news. Why get all worried over soemthing if it probably won't happen to you?
Darth Groovy
Well people are scared. It would be nice to make these things go away, but wake up and return to reality.
munik
I don't really pay much attention to the news, so overexposure of a news topic doesn't bother me too much. But, at my work we have a lot of asian customers, and they like to joke about sars. A little cough or two, then say "I think I got sars!". Hell, anyone who gets sick at work gets picked on about having sars. No one I know is scared of it, but it makes for some funny jokes.
Kstar__2
actually, we have started to replace "bless you" with "sars" when someone sneezes:p

I have a feeling your from the States. no offense but the media over there loves to make people PARANOID! I live in Canada's capital: Ottawa. Its about 3 hours drive from Toronto and 30min on plane. Internationaly people were freaking out about Toronto. SARS this and SARS scare that. I allmost got a job screaning people for SARS at a hospital (just some precautions) for 15$ an hour. But the outbreak is over here in Canada so the program was droped. When someone asked me if i was scared of getting it i just laughed at them. Everything was blown out of proportions! Just like CNN blew out of proportion the KILLER BEES ARE COMING last year. If you want to help people help the poor souls in Asia, where its truely affected. Dont go make the citizens else where more paranoid and fearfull just so they can give away thier freedoms "so you can protect them from the evil they cannot see"
